The Sauga Ends Here

Hey everybody!
Just an update on where I'm at with my new run. I've been prepping my pots since I'm reusing my soil. I added 1.5 tbsps per 5gal of dolomite lime to bring the pH up a bit. I should have them ready to go into their final home this weekend.

Hi Mr S! How do you remove all the old roots from the mix?
I pull the leftover bones out first. The first pic shows it's gone but also shows the hard shape left of the dirt ball from the pot. As you break the dirt ball down the roots naturally want to stay on the top surface. I just gather them as I go. There's not a lot after the bones are removed, and you're only trying to remove any mass buildup of roots. The rest just gets mixed in.
Nope :nerd-with-glasses:

You are the lesson keeper or the glue, if you will. :battingeyelashes:
lol, OK thanks Konk!

Good! Before I retired I really enjoyed working with people who were always smiling for the most part, in one way or another. It inspired me and we worked together to do some really good things.
CNN, it makes my heart hurt a lot these days. I haven’t worked on mastering the insert of music like @InTheShed has, but I really feel like I’m living a life of illusion a lot lately. I’m struggling with the acceptance of rampant hate and non responsibility. And that’s all I have to say about that.
My week has been good so far: fire in the wood stove all day on Monday; Tuesday voted early and took a beautiful drive on the Blueridge Parkway; Today was with my mom most of the day. Pretty boring week actually, but there were bong hits and time spent looking at the plants too. Lol. :peace::cheesygrinsmiley:
I have learned I can’t control how people act, or are. I can only control how I respond to it.

My advice, not that you asked, turn CNN off. You smile more, and you will be surprised how many people smile back. I truly believe the good outweighs the bad. And sometimes as hard as it is, we need to role model the change we want to see.

I think life has always had huge level of injustice/hatred/cruelty but it has been balanced with love/kindness/compassion, you just need to choose which side to focus on. I’m currently reading a book set in the Middle Ages. What fucked up time that was, particularly if you were a woman, without wealth, super sullied and with a bastard child, all of the things I am coincidentally Lolling.

I think we all live an illusion to a point, the fact your illusion involves a wood fire, a beautiful drive, growing great plants and the love of your mother makes me super happy for you.

Sending you smiles and sunshine.

I know this makes me a growing oxy moron but I hate handling dirt so much!

And if a crumb of dirt gets under my fingernail I am violently soapy nailbrushing it out like its toxic waste!

Finally got around to getting the NextLight Mega installed. It's running at 30K lux at the top of the canopy which is 48" below. I have to thank a Bootiful friend for helping me out in getting it up here. They do ship to Canada, but there were other reasons why I went the route I did. It's a great light, and although it never came with the dimmer as promised, the fine folks at NextLight are sending me one out at no charge. Something slipped through the cracks but it's all good now.

Hey everybody. It's been a while since you've seen the Candylands, so here's a few shots of the transplanting process and some other stuff.

They are currently being fed the following:

Since they have started taking nutes, they have consumed the following main nutrients that I try and keep track of.

And here's the growth over the last 26 days.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Congrats on few matters actually. Time to get busy Sauga!!:yahoo:

@MrSauga How the heck do you test for K and N. Kjeldahl nitrogen testing is a lab only thing. The K I have no idea and I’m a chemist. The rest can be fairly easily done but good grief that sounds like work

Wait, what...? Is dolomite the only additive to the used soil, or is it not the whole story :hmmmm:

I don't. Earlier in this journal I mentioned that the PPM levels of the nutrients that I feed may not equate to what you find in a tissue sample. Cannabis requires certain ratios of nutrients, like the K:Ca:Mg, or the N:S ratio, the more important one being the former.
You can see that in the chart above the K:Ca:Mg is 4:winkyface:1 which is what I shoot for. The N:S should be around 15:1 which is close also.

Not at all. You should use a combination of calcitic and dolomite. I use dolomite as I don't have the calcitic.

The two most common forms of limestone incorporated into growing media are calcitic and dolomitic limestone:

Calcitic limestone is calcium carbonate and it neutralizes acids in the growing medium. It provides some calcium, but almost no magnesium. Calcitic limestone dissolves faster than dolomitic limestone so it quickly adjusts a growing medium's pH within one week, but it has a shorter residual effect of up to 1-2 months.

Dolomitic limestone is a combination of calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate and serves two purposes in the growing medium. Primarily, it neutralizes acids in the growing medium but also provides some additional magnesium and calcium for plant uptake. Dolomitic limestone dissolves slowly in the growing medium, resulting in longer term pH adjustment (up to 2-4 months) and buffering to improve pH stability.

Most commercial growing media manufacturers rely solely on dolomitic limestone and vary the particle size to control release rates. Some use a combination of both forms. Together, dolomitic and calcitic limestone create a more even and consistent growing medium pH.
When using both forms of limestone, better pH control can be achieved; calcitic limestone quickly releases and adjusts the growing medium's pH while dolomitic limestone slowly releases over the course of the crop, resulting in limited pH fluctuations during production.
