The Quest For Midnight Sunshine: Dabber Begins Breeding Bodacious Botanicals

See I think there was a bit of confusion for users and the albums for sure... but I had a "wtf experience " and a "dabbers designs" all these cool ones pre made so I just would hit existing albums then boom top of my list was my most recently used albums! It took me a while to figure it all out, but man once I kinda had the groove it was cool. This way is fine too! But I like the idea that I could find a pic fast cause it was in its labeled folder....

But anyways, I stayed up wayyy too late with the neighbors. They're pretty damn cool. Garage full of quads, sleds, fishing gear, every tool known to man, oh and 50 some odd rifles pouring out the safe. Needless to say we immediately became bffs. Took the quads for a midnight run around the 30 acre property. Good times!

Sorry rambling a tad. In a good mood cause I got the call!

Start orientation tomorrow at Big Leaf Alaska, tomorrow. Pretty exciting!!!! I think part time to start but it's all about getting my foot in the door. They do packaging and trimming for a lot of companies around town, so it's a great opprotunity to see and work with multiple businesses from growers and concentrate folk to retail.

Yay! Congrats man. That's awesome. :thumb::theband:

Remember that epigenetics can play a big role in producing phenotypes. Epigenetics involves the plants environment and the changes in the plants chemistry due to environment. Take seeds from a plant grown in Afghanistan and plant them in Iowa and you would swear they are 2 different strains.

congrats sir, know you really wanted to work in the industry.
Well when u have customers willing to shell out 200-300 bucks for a pack of seeds that aren't worked to stability, why would they bother to stabilize the strains?

Hmmmmm....cash in now at 200-300 bucks a pack, or spend 2-5 years stabilizing the strain and hope someone will pay close to that amount? What to do, what to do.

Ace seeds spent 10 years working on their Kali China strain, all to charge about 10 bucks a seed. Who would u rather give your money to?
I see your point and how much the market is oversaturated with subpar seeds. I am naive when it comes to others, because I wouldn't be ok with putting out an inferior product and think everyone is like me.

I brought that up in a different thread somewhere yesterday or the day before. I just can't remember where it was. The environment will open up a whole different can of worms!

I am not putting down any of the companies that might be doing that. People have to make a living. But getting into growing and seeing how many of the seed companies operate really motivated me into wanting to do it for a living and doing it the right way. I see so many people out there that have health issues and pains that they need to deal with but who don't have money to be spending 200 bucks a shot for a pack of seeds that may or may not start throwing nanners at any given time.

You won't always get 4 phenos types. The number of phenos depends on what was crossed and how stable it is. New crosses don't show all phenos until you get to the F2 generation. Then again depending on what was used to create the cross and how "worked" for stability it was prior to the crossing. New F2 crosses can often times have more than 10 distinctly different phenos.

As far as what makes an ATF x ATF any different will depend on the parents of the cross. Were they from the same parents or does the breeder use multiple mom's for a little genetic diversity. If they came from different parents, could be a whole new can of recessive genes that could surface. Interesting stuff for sure!
I typed a reply to that post and posted it over in Light addicts journal. Thabks for tackling that van!

:high-five:

Thank you all very kindly for the congratulations.

Yeah I'm not sold on 300 dollar f1s. But in a way I am..... heres why. The owner of that 10 pack of seeds can pheno hunt and line breed to their own liking. So I am intrigued by that part of it.

Someone had a meme about "breeders" taking a purple punch male and hitting clone only stains. Claiming it's not breeding. But the same meme in the comments the person replied to me trashing people who line breed F1s. Idk. Like you own the gentics... who cares if you line breed it. I find that more respectable than Making crosses and calling it a strain.

I agree that those prices are ridiculous. Even 15 a bean for a 5 pack isnt too bad imo for a good quality seed. But anything more is dumb.

I got some pics. I'll drop them today at some point. They're trying real hard and I gotta give them props for resiliency.

I guess it all boils down to getting what you want. Most seeds I wouldn't pay the money they're asking but if I see something that looks good to me I'll pay more than I should for it.

Well ever since the Bitcoin crashed I haven't had any chance to buy any more beans but that's okay I have plenty. Now I didn't mind over paying for some strains since I made out like a bandit. I mean hell, I bought a pack of Triple OG from exotic genetics for 400 bucks, but the 3 grand I spent on seeds all came from 350 bucks of my initial bitcoin investment. I didn't mind that at all, but I can assure that if it wasn't "house money" I wouldn't have bought anything over 10 bucks a seed.

I don't mind paying afew bucks for seed. I kind of figure they,, least we hope they do, have the room to pheno hunt and stabilize a strain for us. That's what I pay for.. Least I hope.......... Then it's up to me what I do with it.
If someone enjoys making their own stock,,, cool. I know for now,, I'm done making my own seed. I did that for 30 years,, and now with the net, I don't have too. Use to there was never a good place to get seed, so you had to get your own stock. But I do see some crazy prices people are paying. Maybe I should be growing seeds instead of product??? Sorry to jump in the middle of a convo.

Exactly. Nail on the head! I've been tempted by the fruit of the alien gear. But by the time I save up enough they will be gone or there will be some new flav.

My next purchase will be some more strawberry kush maybe some cough. And then some regs from exotic genetics. Apparently they're far more reasonably priced.

Hey woody good to have you. And please feel free to chime in at any time. You be been doing this longer than I've been alive brother.

But yes you are 100% correct. Genetics are going to be very very valuable in the coming years. Who knows what the feds will and wont allow, and how it can further mess up prices. Best to stock pile, and chuck pollen. Maybe not but why not?

So I meant to drop these yesterday. The first pics are all the topped stankberry. It has that killer blueberry pheno. The aft backcrossed beans could be a very interesting pheno hunt!

Anyways here they are....

I'll probably be busy the next couple days, getting the wife ready forTexas. But after wards I'll have a bit of free time. Hopefully get some new tutorial threads rolling!

Green days to you all
