The Quadsquad Thread: A Community For Quadlining

Here is my first quadline plant. Growing in coco and curious what size fabric pot do you recommend?

TIA

Beautiful work my friend 😎
I’m a big fan of air pots and coco.
But I’m currently running 2-200 liter and 1-100 liter bags of coco.
I have grown some big girls in 3 and 5 gallon bags.
If your veg time is short you can get away with 3.
If you are still training I’d go 5 gal bag.

@Bill284 is who I'd ask about growing in coco.

Nice looking plant. I like to leave more of a stump when I top to help minimize chances of splitting later on.
Thanks Azi:ciao::thanks:

I sooo agree!
I let them grow before topping . Inside grow works, but outside quads will still need some bracing.
Once the colas get heavy, thgy tend to splt so I tie them. Just had my 2 banana jealosy split after a rain and they were tied with nylon strings.

So as Azi said, the longer the better.

What are the groups thoughts on defoliating ?

I've seen quads where there is nothing left but the growing tips o_O

I just hate to remove fan leaves until absolutely necessary :yahoo:

My plan was to wait until the branches were long enough to take off the least dominant lower branch on each node and top the end, 3 cola's per branch, 12 cola's total.

This should keep the width of the plant(s) under 20"..

Day 33, Acapulco Gold at day 33.

I'm only a fan for specific reasons like air flow. The fan leaves are a nutrient bank the plant can call on in flower so I like to leave as many of them as I can.

I'm trying a modified version of that now. I left 5 nodes coming off the main and removed all of the growth nodes along each branch leaving only the end one. I took only the growth tips though and left the fan leaves on.

I do a little when the plant is about the same age as yours- just to let the light get to
the growth tips to encourage more branch growth...I remove all leaves on the topside of the branches, because they tend to shade everything else..
Then, about 3 weeks into flowering, I defoliate the bottom 1/3 of the plant...(sometimes)
Everything else gets to stay...
like you, I figure those leaves aren't there just to look pretty... 😁

Ahhhh..... The crew that likes it on all fours is still at it I see.... .
Hahahahahaha....(Ol skool 'Quad' liners joke).....

Good to see you guys still preforming bondage on plants and calling it an art form....just sick and twisted.... See I'm in good company then.
