Brown sugar is made with molasses, but that doesn't make it a substitute. For one thing, it's not simply molasses you're looking for. It's blackstrap molasses, unsulphered. Blackstrap molasses is a more intense production technique and the end result is much more than a sweetener. The final product, blackstrap molasses is rich in micro nutrients the plants can use. Regular molasses is just sweetner, and isn't useful to the plants or, more notably, the bacteria that eat it and make it available to the plants.
Thanks. Wasn't sure if there was a difference. Thought all sugars worked the same way and helped produce fatter buds. Glad I asked before I dissolved some brown sugar in water and added to my soil
