The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

ok, possibly, unhealthy, ok, possibly,, oh btw,,

you looking for healthy??? best stay away from mj then,,

a list of the toxins in mj smoke,,

"Cannabis smoke is similar to tobacco smoke in that it is a mixture of very small particles and a gas-vapor phase. Both the particulate and vapor phases contain many identified and probably some still unidentified constituents that, based on clinical experience with tobacco smoke, must be assumed to be potentially harmful. The amounts of some materials in tobacco cigarete and marijuana cigarette smoke are compared in Table 3. Toxic substances, such as carbon monoxide, hydrogen cyanide, and nitrosamines occur in similar concentrations in tobacco and marijuana smoke; so do the amounts of particulate material known collectively as "tars"."

I did a fast read in just what we exhale when we smoke. I think if the plants could they wood run.... Not sure if this makes sense but shows all the same bad shit we get outta cigarette, is in a joint except the nicotine and one other. Very little co2.

thanks to norcal for that list,, ewww indeed

the tinfoil ball,, probably does give off toxins,, once, one light,, then it gets covered in tar and toxins and is good to go,, i think new research will show that at this point, the tinfoil ball is mega healthy,, actually improves health and fitness, i think,, ha

Did you ever read the cautions that come with a bottle of aspirin? You'd think twice about taking another after reading that. It doesn't cover the whole story though. For instance, there's a crapload of cholesterol in eggs, but eggs also contain components that make that cholesterol usable to the body. I'm not saying that's the case with cannabis, but it is scientifically proven fact that smoking cannabis will prevent cancer instead of cause it. There's waaaay more in your tobacco cigarettes than you think there is. A habit I managed to avoid, thank God.

Looking over that list I couldn't help but wonder where they got that cannabis they tested and under what conditions was it cultivated? That would have great bearing on what they found in the residue, wouldn't you think?

Thanks. I'm confused on whether or not to trim some of the bigger leaves. She's a bit bushy and not sure if the lower buds should receive more light

I have some personal feelings about this. Those are solar panels. Nature designed them to feed the plant. In the same way that there's little, if anything, that you came with that can be easily eliminated, leaves grow on the plant because the plant needed them.

Now, to some extent, you can remove some, and the plant will restore balance by growing others. So a little judicious pruning is helpful if you have air-movement concerns. But the flowers bloom because they get energy from the chlorophyll factories in their leaves, not from their exposure to the light. Certainly, it's not beneficial to shadow them, but I don't believe this concern we express about lower or internal buds getting light exposure is valid.

I've noticed that the most trichomes are growing beneath the canopy, under the shelter of those bigger fans at the top. This is just a personal observation, and I offer it only as fuel for thought. I don't hesitate to trim here and there. I try not to do too much on any given day and to let the plant recover. I pretend I'm a wandering deer, having a snack. Then I move on, deeper into the forest. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I have done drastic defoliation and had the reward of the most potent trichomes of that strain I'd ever grown. Another thing to consider. That trick pays bigger dividends when it's timed closer to harvest. It's riskier, so you want to insure you'll still get some decent return for your efforts.

The plants reward our abuse. That thought makes me uncomfortable, but only because I insist on thinking about it improperly. The plant adapts. In almost every case you'll be rewarded with some unexpected benefit. What a delightful way to learn about life. :laughtwo:

Still, it is getting harder to justify smoking cannabis when there are less harmful and arguably better delivery methods.

I like joints but I try not to smoke them all the time.

Best

I wholeheartedly agree Canyon. If I smoke a dozen joints in a year, that would surprise me. I think my count is less than that this year. It's more about loving that curling smoke and the lingering magic of the perfume. :dreamy:

There is NO better room freshener IMHO.

Thanks. I think for this grow I will allow nature to take its course and see what I'm rewarded with. Yes I do notice that most of the trichomes are on the lower portion of the buds. I'm thinking this has to do with heat exposure from the light is burning off the top ones. Thanks again. Very informative

This whole toxins in MJ smoke is really bothering me.....:thedoubletake:

Take a breath Duggan. Stop and remember that the most important thing here is how you feel. I'm not getting good-feeling vibes here. That's your cue to choose to think something other than that disturbing thought. Do it now........

You obviously think there must be a better way. Focus on the happy thought of there being a better way more than thinking this disturbing thought that takes you away from your core. Deliberately choose not to go there for a moment. You'll catch your breath while you're feeling good and a better way will present itself to you. You'll find a way to promote better consumption choices without the concern attached to the message.

The way things can be. The way we all know they're moving towards. Choose to be part of a joyful solution instead of part of the unhappy chorus.

It starts with that calming breath. Go ahead. Take another. Doesn't that feel better?

My skin has a Vit D appointment with the sun, but before I dash out the door I wanted to drop some pretty pictures. Just because it makes me feel good, and I thought it might make you feel good too, which made me feel better. See how that works? :battingeyelashes:

Hectic days but manageable. Hope all is well.

All's well here Birdie. Good to hear things are well in your nest. :hugs:

I couldn't resist.

Now to figure out how to make the best use of it.

Scary stuff...not good!:(....:thedoubletake:
My point exactly dig dugs. Soooooo, if you realize something you've been doing is unhealthy, Why add to it, something even more unhealthy, making it twice as unhealthy? That's all I was saying. It's just my opinion but, why not reverse your karma, and head the other way? Find healthier ways to ingest this plant, which, in reality, is the reason I'm here! I'm not a heavy smoker any more and one of the main reasons I follow This thread is this; Sue is a medicine woman and I was looking at being enlightened to a healthier way! So, let's walk forward on this journey, hand in hand, facing the wind in defiance of the ignorance that forever taunts us as mortals! I truly have nothing but love for ALL my fellow growers. And that, is the truth!

Bumble's Humble Hive! It's Alive

Thank you Bumble. That was beautifully eloquent. :hugs:

Sue, looks like some of the girls have the claw, are these DBHB girls? Some of mine get it as well. I stopped by the callanetics thread and it looks like you are doing quite well, very glad to hear it.

Good morning BrixNewb. :hugs: How delightful to see you here this morning. Another hug. :hugs: Yeah, Callanetics has turned this aging woman into a saucy little firecracker. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I'm excited. My bale of Pro-Mix HP is waiting at the post office. :yahoo: Time to start over.

Yes, no one was able to figure out what caused it. I've noticed It's shown up in a few of our grows recently. It may be something we all need to come to grips with. Sooner or later it'll all pan out and we'll be better trained. I figure I mismanaged the soil at some point. Starting over gives me a chance to track better. I had a couple emergency teardowns with this soil and apparently I mixed something wrong.

I'm out the door to grab my bale and get some soil started. :slide:

It's a wonderful day guys. I'm off and running into joyful expression. Join me? :battingeyelashes:

Good morning all. I have a question. Has anyone here tried using brown sugar to feed their plants. Does this work the same as molasses.

Brown sugar is made with molasses, but that doesn't make it a substitute. For one thing, it's not simply molasses you're looking for. It's blackstrap molasses, unsulphered. Blackstrap molasses is a more intense production technique and the end result is much more than a sweetener. The final product, blackstrap molasses is rich in micro nutrients the plants can use. Regular molasses is just sweetner, and isn't useful to the plants or, more notably, the bacteria that eat it and make it available to the plants.
