The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

FYI...I had this posted in my first journal and have posted it several times since. It's not the method I use (I would if I was having real problems, though!) but it MAY help some who are having problems germinating:

The slow faucet drip in the sink is interesting, never saw that before. I have seeds in storage now so I could use some helpful info Thnks :thanks:

When I first grew back in the 80s, I didnt know any-thing, i would cut a clean sponge, stick seeds inside the cut stick sponge on a plate and pool water around the sponge. Now I am too lazy for even that... Such a lazy bones is me. Thanks for the vid Mr.K.

Let's give this another try. I have Rapid Rooters this time. Maybe it'll improve my germination rates.

Rapid Rooters is great, a lot of people I know use it and love it. . .

Thanks so much, guys. :)

I ended up posting my grows at another forum, but the one I started here prior to login issues is still going, sorta... the mother plant didn't make it, but her clone is glorious. I'll get the link, but it's not that great a journal, since I couldn't access it for a long while.

The Red Poison is really great. Very relaxing and not debilitating, you can go on with your day, just anxiety-free and very relaxed.

By the way, I'm not a man, I'm a woman. ;)

How long I'm going to let her go? Probably anothrt week or so before I start flushing, which I do for a week to 10 days in fresh water, I grow hydro.

Sorry about missing that you're a woman. I'm usually quicker than that. :laughtwo: It's wonderful to have another woman in the group.

Everyone is looking awesome, and I love the babies. Also hate when seeds don't pop, but sometimes they're a little slower and it pays to wait, I've killed a few slow one trying to check on them. . .

I'm planting this new seed and I expect that once I've done so the late shower will pop up overnight. :laughtwo: I promised myself I wouldn't go digging for this one.

You and me both baby. It's no secret how lazy a gardner I am. :laughtwo:

Thanks for the confidence booster. Germination of seeds puts me a bit off balance, and I have to keep resetting the positive expectations. Lol!

This is the link to my thread. :)

Already subbed. Your clone is a beast. You thinking about entering her into POTM at some point? You gotta start somewhere.

I use an AeroGarden, it works well. :)

I like the size of this one. If I ever get to cloning it's only going to be a few at a time. I don't have accommodations for a massive cloning setup. This size looks just my speed.

I'm sitting here thinking, I'm going on vacation for a week in February. My plan, so far, had been to take everything down and do a new start when I came back. I don't like leaving my daughter responsible for my garden. It makes her anxious that she'll kill something. I wouldn't be heartbroken if such a thing occurred, but there's no sense putting her through that if it's not necessary.

But I'm growing two Carnivals, and I WILL be cloning them, so this means I need to come up with a plan to keep the clones alive while I'm gone. They'll be in kit soil and they should be fairly well along by then, so I may be able to get away with setting them on a SWICK for the week. I'll be gone a full 7 days, so the foliar schedule will only be slightly off and I can catch up on drenches as soon as I get back.

Ok, that sounds like it'll work.

@SweetSue

Thanks! The AeroGarden is great and I use it for germinating and clones, it's also my infirmary. You can cover the spaces you're not using with card board to keep the light out, like I do. And I also added a small pump and air stone to it, idea of someone from another forum I go to. It works very well.

And don't feel bad, everyone on the forums thinks I'm a dude. lol

Thanks also for subscribing, Clona is a real beast! I don't know what POTM is...

You could do the Swick and just have your daughter check in on them. I wish I would have cloned my Carnivals. I have 3 more seeds though. Not worried.

Daily Update: Thursday, August 11, 2016

Maintenance notes:
* Both LOS no-tills got an aloe/coco drench.
* The Carnivals got a light Transwater drench.
* The hempy pot got lightly watered.

Let's start with the Kit tent today. The Carnival twins are now at Day 16.

#1

#1 is on the left.

image15714.jpeg

Same here. This was while they were getting drenched. I nest the cups so that the runoff can be wicked back up into the medium.

image15715.jpeg

#2, asking to be topped. Tomorrow. :battingeyelashes:

image15716.jpeg

#1 isn't quite as far along, but by tomorrow she may be ready too. I'm gonna have to keep them low. This tent is just over 5' high. I don't want any trouble with the lights bleaching the Carnivals. I'll train them heavy, if need be.

The auto tent.

Industrial Plant (Day 24) I'm still waiting for this one to do something dramatic. I'm not convinced this is a technique for me.

image15725.jpeg

Dark Devil Auto (Day 52) She's getting downright chunky, isn't she?

image15726.jpeg

Still no sign of the seed I planted in there.

The next attempt at a DDA.

The tiny closet, home of the Med GOM 1.0 (Day 54)

Fat, substantial branches on her.

The apical buds are measuring 3" long x 1.5" wide.

Nicely frosted.

Well, I didn't make my midnight deadline, but I didn't miss it by much either, so I'm good. :laughtwo: I had a delightful evening visiting with the daughter and her partner, who came over to join me for dinner. Yes, you heard that right, I actually fixed a meal and had company over to join me. I know, it surprised me too. :laughtwo: A nice pasta bake with buttered Italian bread. Mmmmm..... Now the place smells of garlic and parmesean. Life is sweet. :battingeyelashes:

I hope your day was filled with joy and wonder. I know mine was. I'm going to have a snack, fix a cup of tea over at supergroomer's virtual coffee and bud shop and do some visiting, now that most of my responsibilities are done. Time for a break. I'll be seeing you around the yards. :ciao: :green_heart:

LOL, looks like a friggin' pineapple ... !

 Give that man the prize!!! Hahaha! I was waiting to see who thought that too. Lol!

Nice to hear, but it is true,, cooking for one is a bummer. It is a good excuse to invite people over so you have a reason to cook.. then make more food so you can eat left overs the next day :) :circle-of-love:

If you look closely, what he does it to slice the rockwool cubes so they open like a book, then he places the seed inside with the seed husk sitting just above the top of the cube and closes the cube. I've seen the cube re-closed and held together with rubber bands, etc. but not sure what he uses.

This way, he doesn't have to try to "force" a new taproot down the cube and risk breaking it.

Sue, don't give up on hempy!

You obviously have a very slow starter (it maybe slow throughout its whole life and may make sense to replace it). The growth rates in the hempys are usually much more rapid than soil and MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more rapid than you're currently experiencing with yours! :)
