The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

Looking good Sue. DD is looking to swell here in last few weeks. Solo cup twins have a great structure going already. You'll be running perpetual again in a few weeks when DD gets cut. Have a great day Sue.

C'mon Sue, you know some little ole Hempy pot won't scare me away. Was a little disappointed, but I understand why you would give it a shot. I tried a few rock wool runs when I was about 19, trying to rebel against my old man, but I learned that it was better to stick to my roots and grow pot like my granny grows tomatoes. Compost, EWC, some amendments, minerals, a few compost teas and some fermented plant extracts.
20151226_195958-1.jpg

Can't ignore the results. Pretty much effortless if ya ask me. I have a feeling that your ph meter will eventually make an awesome paper weight on your desk one day. That's just the opinion of an organic terrorist. Take care Sue, and may the force be with you.

I couldn't agree with you more Cy. Those LOS no-tills have been supplying me with top-notch harvests all along, almost effortlessly. I'm really interested in seeing if I can taste the difference between LOS-grown and bottled nute-grown.

Sweet plant Cy. :high-five: Is that your dad's strain?

I caught it at less than 1%. There were two giant buds in that jar. Sometimes I'm convinced the universe steps in and moves me. This was a chore I wasn't going to do today at all. I can't tell you what prompted me. I was doing something completely different when suddenly I simply got up and went out to check the jars.

It was Karma moving you to the jars, just a payback for all the help you freely give to others.

:thanks:

Keith

Why yes Sue, that is the "Family Tree" so to say. Grown in a no till ClacamasCootz style soil with a few of my own specialty touches added to the mix. Taken all the way to harvest with mostly water, coconut water, fresh aloe, lactobacillus, and the occasional tea. Can't get much easier than that. Wouldn't mind seeing one of these plants in your garden one day.

Hope alls well SS. Have a good evening........Cy

I just stumbled onto a journal that shows how someone with more talent than I can make the Med GOM shine. This is his specimen at day 60. Geez. :thedoubletake:

IMG_367913.JPG

You can find this magnificent specimen and its companion, an impressive Massive Midget, growing here:

Med Gom 1.0 & Massive Midget In A Chilled Aerogarden With Mars Hydro Reflector LED

I know you guys follow me because you love the passion and you keep hoping I'll translate that into the ability to consistently grow plants like this, or better. :laughtwo: I love you for your devotion. :battingeyelashes:  It's my plan to learn to do just that. I'm just taking longer to get there than the rest of the class because I keep getting distracted. That's not a bad thing, considering the distractions, but it'll be grand when it finally clicks, won't it? :laughtwo:

In the meantime I'm glad we're having so much fun. Somebody else should go and tell CMJJMC2000 what a bad-ass plant he grew.

Oh Cy, what a tease. To do the strain justice I'd have to learn to hone the craft a bit more. I have to remind myself I've only been growing cannabis in containers and indoors for just under two years. I still have so much to learn.

Growing plants are easy Sue. You're a natural at this. Give it a solid environment, and the plant will take care of itself.
LOL Sue, I want to chime in on the Hempy pot experiment, but all I can come up with is perlite has no cation exchange capacity... No help, I know.. I'll talk to my buddy at work tomorrow and see if he knows anything about this method. I asked him why he was such a badass grower, and he said it's because he's made every mistake imaginable.

Thanks for the shout-out. I came to have a look at your Med Gom - she looks happy and healthy! It's possible that the topping and LST may not be something that this strain tolerates very well. Mine has been very nute hungry through the grow, pulling in about 1000ppm per week on average during flowering. Either way, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the end results on your Med Gom. Quality always trumps quantity when it comes to MJ :thumb:

The Dark Devil is beautiful. I may have to grow one of those in the future just to see the color in my tent!

Thank you for the gracious compliments. It means a lot, coming from someone so much better at the art than I. I accept that my quality will be exemplary, my last harvest of the strain cemented that reality for me, but it was only 19 grams dry, so this ones already a dramatic improvement. Next grow I'll let it run more free and control lighting better.

I also understand that your method of cultivating has much to do with the size of the plants. Even accepting that fact, your Med GOM is impressive as hell and I stand in awe of your talents. It's tremendously satisfying to watch one of my virtual neighbors do it so right. :adore:

I was getting ready to do Callanetics when I stretched out across the bed for a moment and ............

I just woke up to go to the bathroom and get a drink. Apparently my body hit the end of energy reserves and I'm recharging. I'll see you all tomorrow.

Goodnight.

Daily Update: Sunday, August 7, 2016

Good evening everyone. Seems like a good time to get the update posted. The only action they saw today was a light watering of the hempy pot and the start of the neem/kelp tea that'll bubble until tomorrow morning. I'll be checking the Med GOM regularly for any more signs of mites. I have to assume there're eggs in there somewhere. I'd be foolish not to, so I'll be giving the whole plant a thorough spray with the 50/50 ISO.

Starting off in the auto tent.

Industrial Plant (Day 20) Look!!! She's starting to stand up!!! :yahoo:

image15505.jpeg

Her color's improving too. :slide: Whew! I wasn't prepared to kill two in a row on this public stage. :laughtwo:

image15506.jpeg

Dark Devil Auto (Day 48) She's determined to be a budcicle, so let her be a nice, fat one. She certainly is beautiful enough.

In the Kit tent, the Carnivals are on Day 12.

image15516.jpeg

#2 is the top specimen, #1 is on the bottom of this picture. Interesting how different they look, isn't it? #2 has just a little more punch to the leaf definition.

image15517.jpeg

Working on the 4th nodes. #1 is on the right.

image15524.jpeg

image15519.jpeg

I left the flap open for a while to get some of the heat out. I completely forgot to pick up another small fan for floor-level intake. That's helping the other tent hold reasonably well, and this tent doesn't have the big light on yet.

It worked. Tomorrow I'll get a fan and fix the problem.

image15523.jpeg

Med GOM 1.0 (Day 50) What can I say? Such understated beauty. The structure's worked out better than I imagined, and I got the canopy under control and super low to keep from having to mess with the light. It looks like I might be capable of learning to keep the closet babes low and full.

image15520.jpeg

Yeah, I'm real happy with how this one's going. Watching arteekay has helped tremendously. It's becoming instinctive to manipulate her. I could get used to this. It really wasn't much work to get her to this point and I've probably tripled the potential yield

The inner colas rising to the occassion.

One last look into the beauty that is the Dark Devil Auto. I'm really hoping to be able to make this one into oil. Keep beefing up baby.

Well, that's my brood for today. I got out to the labyrinth today and got a nice sunburn from being out there too long. A consequence of being fair-skinned and less than careful about protecting myself from the intense sun of the late morning. I ran into Bigwhite1970 while I was out there and we had a chance to sit under the tree and catch up. That gave a sweet sparkle to the day. On the way home I actually spent money on some basic things that will make the apartment more of my own space - new curtains for the bedroom and a new bath towel so soft that when I picked it up I couldn't put it down. Lol! Bit by bit it's coming together. This rediscovering yourself after 35 years of a good marriage is scary shit. Don't let anybody fool you into thinking otherwise. It pleases me though, to watch the place evolve. It's more open and airy, just the way I like it. :battingeyelashes:

Thanks for stopping to visit. Now, get out there and spread the joy. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

I'll be seeing you around the yards. :Namaste:

I have a Dark Devil completing 3 months today, seed was dropped on 05/10.

There's a couple of weeks in the middle where it's a bit of daily adjustment, but after that ya get to really just sit back and see how ya made out. I make new mistakes every time, but it never seems to really fail to improve yield.

Our buddy Pigeons and the entire family were over again this weekend and we had a few minutes to chat about his re-entry into the auto world. Sweet Seeds Red Poison, but I'm sure we can convince him to do a Dark Devil as well eventually. :)
Just harvested a Red Poison...

Morning Susan! Top of the morning to ya Witchy....gotta take a couple minutes here to offer up a big warm welcome to the "Mag". It's no surprise you found Sue....she has been busy these last many months getting very valuable experience growing using a variety of methods...and is having great success with them all! She is an extremely valued member and you will soon find out why.
Just a small reminder sir, to please always leave your EGO at the door and try and enter these rooms with a smile...it will take you very far around these parts. May I suggest doing some reading of other DBHBB users journals...Doc Bud is presently doing a few right now including his "in the lab' thread and his Q & A thread for DBHBB users. Bottom line Witchy , is you found a very special place filled with lots of very experienced growers....here's the best part...as people ,...they are even better! Cheers and once again Witchy...welcome to our place here at the "mag"......:circle-of-love::Namaste::high-five:

Oh ya ...nice poison BTW....lookin yummy!

OMG witchy, you gave me no warning!!! :laughtwo: What an auspicious way to introduce yourself. You need to show these babies off on the Dark Devil Auto thread. The guys and gals will be thrilled to share in this joy.

First off, let's dispense with the niceties. :welcome: to my joyful journal. I see you've been with us since April, so I'm going to assume you've already made yourself comfortable. Sit a spell, get to know the fabulous crew. We look forward to getting to know you better.

Your DDA is the phenotype that doesn't go dark purple. If this is the first time growing for you I encourage you to let her go as long as you can force yourself to wait. My first was this phenotype and it didn't turn the buds purple until the very last week or so. They never got dark purple like the others, but the buds did swell significantly and darken up right at the end.

The Red Pioson....... Yummy is the best descriptive. Well done on both plants. Where have you been hiding? :laughtwo:

FYI...Many strains won't turn purple without some cold temps during the last week or two of flowering. There are also some additives available that will help "purple" strains turn purple, but I don't recommend them. Finally, if my memory serves me correctly, I think a K deficiency during the end of flower will also cause purpling (I'll confirm that but wouldn't recommend it, either...purple is just for "bag appeal" IMHO!).
:Namaste:

EDIT: It's a P deficiency that will cause purpling, not a K deficiency!

I'm curious as to whether this was the case with my first DDA. My memory is that the temps weren't that low at night, coming into Spring, but that time of year that would have been the norm. I'll have to jump back into the journal and check that out. What I do remember is turning around one day about two weeks before harvest and noticing the buds had darkened.

I'm sorry, didn't mean to step on anyone's toes. Just wanted to show plants I'd grown of the same strains. They're great plants and I wanted to show the end product, what to look forward to.

Good luck with your grows, everyone! :)

Yes, I don't think DD will turn red or purple at all. But I was delighted that the Red Poison did. :)

I started growing early this year and come here through 420, but was having problems with this forum until recently. I couldn't sign in so I kind of gave up on it.

You have a lovely garden, and a beautiful mission helping others. My Red Poison has been fantastic for anxiety, it's like taking a Xanax. Now, the Dark Devil is indeed a little devil! She'll make you feel like your head is floating.

Enjoy! .
