The Perpetual Healing Garden - SweetSue's Joyful Return

I ended up with just shy of the 8.25 cups.

image15596.jpeg

It tested out at above 180 proof. Not bad, and right in keeping with what other oilers have gotten, so I'm pleased. That was effortless. I hate paying for all that water, but it is what it is.

image15598.jpeg

Now I'm set for the next batch of oil.

I went out to do a quick overview of the inventory and get a general feel for what's on hand, reached into the back of the top shelf to retrieve the vacuum jar I'd put the last buds of the Dark Devil Auto into for long-term storage (hoping to stay out of it for another couple months) and found MOLD!

image15599.jpeg

No doubt about the call. I carefully cut out any and all affected parts and looked over the buds to convince myself I got it all.

image636.png

Into a clean jar with a Boveda pack. Everything that came in contact with the mold got scrubbed and sterilized. I got off easy here and I know it.

image15601.jpeg

How ironic that the one jar I was convinced didn't have oxygen sufficient to mold........ Complacency. Sooner or later I'll learn that a good cultivator avoids complacency at all cost. Thank goodness I felt compelled to do this today and not next week. What I lost was minimal. I swear, that guardian angel of mine's due for a bonus. :battingeyelashes:

The dreaded mold on cured bud ... glad you found it early. It really sucks to loose a good harvest, but it does happen. I smoked so much moldy weed as a teen, years later when I would smell mold, my brain would get tickled and initiate a bud craving!
So did it mold while under vacuum?

Nice catch. I am glad you see it in the right light as you saved 95% of what was in there. That's a hard loss if you lost the whole jar. Because when you ran out you would know it was laziness that killed it. I am often guilty of that sin.

I caught it at less than 1%. There were two giant buds in that jar. Sometimes I'm convinced the universe steps in and moves me. This was a chore I wasn't going to do today at all. I can't tell you what prompted me. I was doing something completely different when suddenly I simply got up and went out to check the jars.

you knew... you just didn't know that you knew. Our minds can be amazing sometimes.

I've lost a jar or two for mold myself. But only when I rushed drying. I'm with you on knowing with out knowing. Spider sense tingling.

good catch sue you lost nothing uou saved everything , bloody lucky girl !

Guardian angel that joyously works overtime. :laughtwo:

Hey Sue, with that mold. get that lid off that jar...ya gotta let that one dry out . Trust me...if it was mine i would let it dry out at least overnight...forget about "curing" it ..ya gotta get it dry. Cheers:Namaste:

Already done, at your instruction Duggan.

Thanks. :hugs: I meant to do that earlier and got distracted.

I cure and store my buds in mason jars on the lower shelf of my refrigerator. I have been lucky enough not to find mold.

There's no way I have that kind of space in my tiny refrigerator. This is actually my first occurance. It doesn't surprise me that it was with the DDA. Dense buds hold the moisture.

Don't you sometimes think the plants call to you? :laughtwo:

Weird though, isn't it, when it happens? I sure am glad my intuition is so finely tuned. That had the potential to be really bad.

Stopped in for some DDA Zen... I am feeling quite intimidated right now. One of the top breeders in the world just joined :420: and headed right to my journal documenting his seeds! Please everyone welcome Santero to the forum!

:)
Sweet Emm.. be proud not intimidated :) you are so deserving this

Hey Sue, mold sucks. You might want to try giving your cabinet a spray down with some of your lactobacillus serum. The microbes will set up colonies and fight off things, such as mold.

Thanks Cy, I didn't think of this. Unfortunately I have none on hand (note to self: make that happen today), but I'm not too concerned about the mold spreading. It was contained inside a jar that was vacuum-sealed and opened away from the cabinet. Everything that even came close to it was immediately disinfected. when I get the LABS done I'll be sure to remember to do this on a regular schedule.

Good to see you Cy. I thought I might have scared you off with the hempy pot. :laughtwo: Take heart, I'm limiting it to just the one for now. There's all this PH adjusting that has to be done Cy. I don't know how growers deal with this on a larger scale without going crazy. I'm getting the hang of it, but this seems like a lot to go through for someone accustomed to working with living soils. At least this one is beginning to grow.

You were right on time with the reminder on LABS. Thanks. :high-five:

Daily Update: Tuesday, August 9, 2016

Good morning everyone.

Let's take a gander into the grow spaces, shall we? Starting off in the auto tent.....

image15612.jpeg

image15613.jpeg

Still waiting. I send thoughts of strong intention many times a day. I choose to believe the seed is viable and will, in fact grow. I'll give it a couple more days before I drop a backup. Seems every time I do that the first one comes up right after, so let me practice a bit more patience with this one.

image15614.jpeg

Dark Devil Auto (Day 49) Her core is just coated with trichomes.

image15615.jpeg

Growing thicker by the day.

image15616.jpeg

image15617.jpeg

Industrial Plant (Day 21) Working on the fifth node. :slide:

image15618.jpeg

Better color every day. There's hope for me yet. :woohoo:

image15619.jpeg

Into the Kit tent. While I'm out today I'll pick up that fan.

image15620.jpeg

The Carnivals (Day 13) #2, in the back is almost a full node ahead of the game. An aggressive grower.

image15621.jpeg

Isnt it intriguing, the way #1 reaches for the light while #2 droops?

They em are starting to look more alike. I'm hoping they're both the same pheno type so I can do the defoliation comparison.

image15622.jpeg

In the tiny closet, the Med GOM 1.0 (Day 51) is still busy beefing up.

image15623.jpeg

image15624.jpeg

The larger buds, at the tips of the branches, are so dense it surprised me. Her smell's beginning to take on a more mature tone. Difficult to explain, but deeper than it was a day or two ago.

image15625.jpeg

image15626.jpeg

Trichome development appears to be progressing smoothly. Nice helmets on the ones I can make out. Let's fill them up to bursting now.

image638.png

image639.png

Let's close out with a Dark Devil Auto shot, why not? What a beauty she's become. I'm figuring at least another month from this point. I've had at least one go a full 90 days.

image637.png

A few more weeks and I'll be harvesting again. Not as much Dark Devil Auto as I'd have liked to see, but I've ways to stretch that harvest out and I'll be grateful for what she gives me.

Alright, time for a run of Callanetics and then I think I'll do a quick run to the store to find some fresh Italian bread and bake a pan of pasta for dinner. It's time to remind my daughter that her mother still has it in her. :laughtwo: It'll be one of my little joyful shares today. What special joyful expressions are you planning? Whatever they are, fill them with gratitude that you're enlightened enough to realize the importance of the effort and motivated enough to follow through.

Have a wonderful day everyone. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

C'mon Sue, you know some little ole Hempy pot won't scare me away. Was a little disappointed, but I understand why you would give it a shot. I tried a few rock wool runs when I was about 19, trying to rebel against my old man, but I learned that it was better to stick to my roots and grow pot like my granny grows tomatoes. Compost, EWC, some amendments, minerals, a few compost teas and some fermented plant extracts.

Can't ignore the results. Pretty much effortless if ya ask me. I have a feeling that your ph meter will eventually make an awesome paper weight on your desk one day. That's just the opinion of an organic terrorist. Take care Sue, and may the force be with you.
