The Mars Hydro FC4800, Prescription Blend And Weed Seeds Express 3x Sponsored Grow: The Amazon Pt I: A Flowering Paradise

Well since my autos were ran on 24-0, I'm definitely leaning towards the topping being thr culprit...but it could be the back and forth from one tent to the other and the light intensity being a factor
I looked at Liv since she’s an auto and I topped her; so far no signs of hermie! If she doesn’t hermie on me I would lean more towards genetics.

Good!! The BJW is an auto that has been played with a lot during its creation. They kept ending up with small plants so they tweaked her to make her the Big Jack part of Jack Widow...maybe it had something to do with that
Environmental and stress factors are very important. Also, autos are very highly hybrid types and possibly more prone to hermie (?).
Yes...I did read autos I'm general are prone to hermies. I thought it was the opposite originally
Wise reasoning.
Well..it's me...lol

So far with Onyx, still a girl...don't want to get my hopes up yet though...still too much time

Were the autos ever in a tent with the seeded photo fems?

The only photo fem that caught seeds was G and hers were those white immature ones...but yes, they were all together. I never topped autos before idk if it stressed one then caught the others and late in flower, it hit G but she was about done so hence the immature seeds

Moony. I don't know what screen hash is

What is screen hash?
71qpPST7OuL._AC_SL1500_.jpg

Something like this. They cost a little bit but you'll get it back in hash. You just need to fully bone dry the buds (don't bother trimming just remove all fan leaves without resin) then put in bags and freeze. Then you just rub it in your hands over the screen a bit at a time. You'll be surprised how much you get back. You can use them every crop too. I wouldn't suggest bubble bags as you will husk the seeds and contaminate the hash.
What do you think caused your hermie, C? And @Moony And @StoneOtter , what about you guys? Just trying to prepare myself better. Honestly knowing this really has happened to so many and you all weren't just blowing steam to help me calm down is very helpful to my current mental state :thanks::rofl:
I'm pretty sure it's to do with the moving around. Even if you are careful there's a good chance the roots are being damaged by being moved twice a day from the impact. Also if they are being moved there's points where the light won't be there. I could keep going but it all comes back to the moving lol. You've already said your gonna make things easier which I think will make your life easier too. No more twice a day alarm :). I'm having to do this ATM too because I've only 1 dehumidifier so every 12 hours I have to move it between the tents lol. It's annoying as hell.
So I like scrape the buds into that screen and save the trichs and resin underneath? And then what do I do with it? I may do this to BJW because from looking at her, I think she is the one that started this all. She has the most out of the 3....If she starts being a pain in the ass de seeding maybe I'll order a screen to do this
You can press the resin into a ball using aluminium foil and a pair of hair straighteners lol seriously. Not too long just a second with the heat and pressure will form into a nice bar shape and you can just break it off and smoke it like hash. Or keep it as a dust and add to your joints as a sweetner. Or it's really easy to bake edibles with. Depending on the screen it can be as strong as 40% THC even higher depending on what you put through the screen. If you have a hydraulic heated press you will get the smoothest lightest creamy wax ever but the presses cost like 600 dollar minimum lol

Here’s why I say genetics:

Mephisto has been around quite some time and they document their strain creation process very well. Additionally, they package their seeds very well, Their seeds are shipped IN seed vials with cotton to keep moisture at bay and then those seed vials are sealed in mylar/foil ziploc bags that have the strain information printed directly on them and are fully sealed (not just zipped) before shipping. IMHO, this goes to show that they take pride and care not only in the creating of their genetics, but also in the storage and delivery of their seeds.

I have to say that I was VERY disappointed in what I received from Weed Seed Express in contrast to the above. I have no idea how long they’ve been around, but there is NO info on the development of the strain on their website; and the seeds were packaged as if the packaging was an afterthought. Loose seeds in a micro-sized ziploc bag with a teeny label on it that couldn't even fit the full name on it. Thats IT! Doesn’t show much care or pride in the product if you ask me!

This is scary to me. You need to be positive everything is clean and check them pot to tip. Make sure you change your clothes etc when interacting with the seeded and the others. Even after being cut down the pollen is active.

Well when I make this, I'll ask you lol...I really don't think it's the roots though...I don't think it was the act of moving, I think it was the difference in light intensities before that or the topping. The roots are hearty, I didn't fling them around lol I was delicate. I don't have Sasquatch arms, not far from my arms to the floor...buuut something did it and I'll just be more cautious moving forward and more aware...that's all. For now. I need to buy a screen and I'm still confused as to after it's frozen and I scrape it and roll it into a ball? Hair straightener? So it's in crumbles on the screen catch and then I use the foil to what scrape it up and form it? Then use the straightener to heat it and make it pliable to form?

I mean I used i49 who packaged the same way and I have not had a single issue with them. Beautiful buds and plants. I have ordered twice from them. I know Mephisto had a great lineage but I wouldn't discredit WSE just cause of their packaging. You have to hunt for their genetic info...not easily accessible in the site, I will say that!!

I try my best to. I know it is, up to a month they say. I spray the outside of the tents down with water too...idk what else to do

No, I’m not discounting them just based on packaging - its more that Mephisto’s info is right there, no hunting for it. And I am - unfortunately - one of those who feels that quality in presentation shows quality in the product (which is why I’m so totally anal about how my cookies look when I package them!).

No you're right, that's why there is "Marketing". Mephisto has one up and Barney's Farm I think, although I never used them, in that regard. Always the pretty packaging and the attention to detail. Your cookies need no marketing other than sampling!

Dry sift is easy peasy ! you'll love it after one sitting making it. after todays cut I'll be making some ! the screens aren't all that much , should be under $100 for all three. I split it with a buddy and we share :green_heart:
I do need to invest then. Thank you!! If you post when you do, tag me please and thank you! :green_heart:

Although I agree it is nice to know which F1 2 3 etc it is and if there's other phenos etc. I'd say 90% of seedbanks don't give this information. And the ones that do you pay a massive premium.

Most companies will never use the first set of cross breed seeds as they tend to be unstable. They grow the first cross then fem those and then clone the seeds using coliadal silver.

As for the bags this is common practice for counties where the seeds are illegal. (USA is at federal and federal laws cover all US postage) I get my seeds the same way from Herbies. They also say souvenir on the seeds as they can be sold in UK as long as not to be grown. (It's weird legal loophole lol) I even requested the original packaging and was refused because of this reason. I wouldn't worry about the genetics personally. If you do a single search for weed seeds express you will find hundreds if not thousands of grows here sponsored by them and even more online.

Btw if you search any, literally any, "seedbank and Hermie" on Google you will get results. Basically there's always a tiny chance if you do everything right it can happen. There's also alot of people who blame the seeds rather than themselves. You'd be surprised I've heard of a tiny light off a led on a dehumidifier causing a Hermie. They are fickle girls. There's alot of factors in Krissi's grow that could have caused this. Unfortunately we won't ever be sure. But you can be sure the genetics aren't the issue as long as they where definitely fem seeds. I think one thing we haven't considered is heat difference. They like a nice steady temp. I'm guessing moving from one tent to another would have a cool air hitting them between twice a day isn't fun for plants that like it quite hot. As I say there where a few things which wasn't ideal, but it feels like I'm going on about it. Krissi is sorting it out now :) I just wanted to explain it really isn't the seeds

Lol ok.

1. Trim all fan leaves off the buds. Do this in a non ventilated room away from your grow room. (When done wash all clothes body and hair before going near the other plants. Do this today too. Pollen sticks to you and can brush against the other plants)

2. Dry the buds on the branches. Just leave for 10-12 days. Don't worry about hanging or anything else like saving the bud structure. Just make sure they aren't piled up so get moody etc. Move around daily. Dry away from your grow room and make sure they can't blow pollen onto girls or your intake etc.

3. Once bone dry you can strip the bud off the branches by hand. Just start at bottom run hand up to strip. No need to be gentle. Just make sure it's into a box or something so the dust gets collected as will be full of trichomes.

4. Bag it all up and freeze it for at least 24 hours. Can sit for months in freezer though. Just keep away from anything smelly or use very good bags.

5. Stack the screens on a table and grab a pair of rubber gloves. Then just above the screen get a good handful and rub it between your hands. Get it to fall onto the screen. Then use a piece of card or a business card etc to move the bits over the screen. Then move what is on the top screen to another box. Repeat until full frozen bags are all used. Then you can refreeze the results and give a 2nd pass.

6. After you have done all the frozen bud. Carefully remove the top screen. Then you use a brush (usually supplied with the screens) to collect the hash on the next screen top then pick it up using a piece of paper or card and the brush (don't use your hands!). This is your first screen so it's the worst quality. Still as strong as bud but will have some plant matter. Brush it to once side and place in a tiny jar. Then remove the top screen and do the same with the hash below. Each step down has stronger/purer hash. And as you collect using the brush you will help add to the screen below. (Brush from the outside to the centre to collect the agitation helps move the resin to the correct screen as each screen had smaller and smaller holes)

7. Once you have done all the screens you should have 5 jars of different strength hash. You can either dump it all together and mix then press or keep separate. Alone you can just add to joints or bongs it smokes really well and its strong as fuck. Or you can press etc as I mentioned. Personally I either use foil and a iron or I'll just add to joints to end the day lol.

I should say this technique is ideal because you have seeds. If you don't have seeds I would use the bubble hash machine we talked about a bit ago. Because of the seeds you don't want to be bashing the frozen matter. It would result in too much seed matter being ground up.

Hope this helps :)

Could have been anything. Note to be more aware. No sense in trying to figure out something I can't. Just know there were many factors both environmental and genetic that could have caused it. It is what it is now, guys and gals..I took a hit. Could have been worse. And hey, I'm learning about dry hash now, too and so are all of us that didn't know before so yaay!

Aww thank you for the step by step! Do I need specific bags to put them in or will freezer ziplocs work

You'd be surprised I've heard of a tiny light off a led on a dehumidifier causing a Hermie. They are fickle girls.
Personally, I have a very hard time buying into that for the simple reason that in nature, NO PLANT is ever FULLY in the dark … there’s this thing called the Moon, and she reflects the sun’s light for a darned good portion of a full moon phase. If itsy bitsy amounts of light were to blame, wouldn’t every plant hermie?

There's alot of factors in Krissi's grow that could have caused this. Unfortunately we won't ever be sure.
Totally agree … 420%!

I think one thing we haven't considered is heat difference. They like a nice steady temp.
If thats the case, brother I am screwed; you dont even want to know how badly my tent has fluctuated some days!

I'm guessing moving from one tent to another
This is one I was wondering about … not just because of temp differences but because of multiple factors: temp, light type, light intensity, etc. I think if a plant is in veg, then she should stay in that tent under that light until she gets moved to a flower tent and stay in that tent under that light for the duration. Personally I dont see a need to take them out and switch them around (@Krissi1982 - PLEASE DO NOT take that as a criticism of YOUR growing style; its just MY opinion and those are like azzholes - everyone has one). Also, by not doinking around with them its one less factor that COULD become a problem.

None at all taken. I had to move them because of the amount of plants I kept in the amount of space I had and having some on 12 and some on 24. My intensity of light changed upwards of 200W before the new Veg light came. That could be an issue. I have heard of light leaks causing issues in other grows although, I too have argued the light of the moon. But, the tents are designed to block light for a reason. You know, here it is guys...

As anyone here will and has attested to, hermies happen. Period. Whether it is genetics that caused it, stress, environmental changes, lighting, heat, whatever. These plants are used to environmental issues. Put in the wild, nothing is consistent yet they grow! It's probably genetics or by the stressor of my hand in that topping. Or is it? Who knows for sure??!!

All we know is that it happens and apparently WILL happen to everyone. It's a matter of catching it. We can debate what causes it all we want, we will just be going in circles.

Yeah it's over now. Onwards and upwards :)

Ziplocs are literally ideal. If you dry it all first it makes life easier but you can just instantly freeze. If you dry first then freeze I think the results are better though.
