IMO it doesn't matter if you are using one of the "drenches" or using the Trans water, I give them the same way. You still want to go from the dry end of the cycle to the full soaked pot end of the cycle. You learn quick enough how much water that takes for a given pot and plant. I water or drench top down and bottom up every time it is possible, letting the plant soak in the water/drench for 10 minutes. Really, the "Trans watering" is a drench - just no Tea and at the reduced concentration.
FWIW, I find a full Trans or GE drench to be 0.5 ml per gallon of soil.
Great explanation of the wet/dry cycle, PJ!
In truth, when I do a drench I start with a gentle top watering to get it all started and then let it soak up from the bottom, periodically adding more from the top as I wait for it to finish drinking from the tray.
I also try to stick to that .5 ml per gallon. Despite the fact that I initially overdid it in application rates the first few times, my inclination is to try to err on the conservative side rather than try to overload. The same principal applies to my LOS no-till. As I've gone along the application rates have become less.
I'm catching on guys. How could I not with all this assistance?
