The Joy Of Growing - SweetSue Goes Perpetual

Lowes is hell. Here's a pro-tip fer ya. Wear that reflector on your head and it won't be so bad.

Now there's a fashion statement I'd never considered PeeJay. :laughtwo: Lowe's and I have always gotten along just fine. I do small projects though and I smile a lot. Maybe that helps.

When I was rebuilding my house one of the Lowe's clerks offered to set up a cot for me, smiling usually gets good results.

You are always on the move, SweetSue! I love it. I will shop vicariously through you, I love Lowe's! I have no new projects planned, just Sweetleef finishing up the tent. Maybe I'll drop a bean...

Fell asleep right after that last post and got about 2 1/2 hours of uninterrupted. Woke up to darkness and for a moment couldn't figure out where I was in time and space. I have hope that later I'll be able to sleep again. Think maybe I'll do some sewing to pass the time until sleep calls again. I still need a couple more tiny pots. I need 6-8 for the SWICK trays and 2-4 for the Tiny Closet, and I'm not planting until they're all done. I have 2 one gallon size Geo Pots that can be set aside for the tiny closet, so that means I need at least three more handmade ones.

Start with a bite to eat and a sweet buzz.

Love grows great stuff!
Seeds grown with love, plants will be awesome. just say'n...:)

I couldn't agree more DrZiggy. It's a formula that's served me well through three harvests. Wow! I've already had three harvests in 9 months on the site! How time flies when you're having fun. :laughtwo:

Hahaha! I swing through there most mornings on my walk to hit the water fountain and pick up one thing or another. I'm on first name basis with some of the staff there. $27 of what I spent was covered by returns of incidental stuff left over from previous projects.

I have to keep moving Magic. It's part of my DNA. :laughtwo: The last year of Dale's life was particularly difficult because it kept me housebound as well. I feel like I'm trying to make up for lost time. LOL! I'll have to swing by your yard later to see which bean you dropped.

What a cute language we have here - "drop a bean", "crack some seeds". Ahhhh, I love it.

Buzz time. Expand my sense of awareness. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I forgot to share this earlier. One of the challenges of becoming widowed by someone on Social Security is this crazy system they have of paying a month back, so when your spouse dies in the middle of the month you suddenly find yourself without any income, since the next deposit to hit your bank will be returned to the Administration. The same thing happens with the deposit from the VA pension that we received one singular payment for. The irony of that one makes me smile. That one payment saved me, so you get no complaints from me, only gratitude that I'm not destitute right now, in great part to that pension payment.

I was feeling rather frustrated that there are thousands of dollars in my checking account that I cannot touch, but decided it was counterproductive to worry about things I have no control of, and decided to trust things would work out. The rent is paid, I have money set aside for food. Everything else can be held off until money starts to flow again and it's retroactive.

The mailbox was full of heartbreak today. No cards or notes, but four letters from the VA dealing with death benefits and spousal pensions. All those reminders of his death. Then I opened the one that informed me that although I can't touch the deposit already in my account, as the surviving spouse of a vet on pension I am entitled to the pension for the month he died. Somewhere in the not too distant future I will receive the deposit and everything levels out nicely.

I will admit, I stood at the bus stop reading that letter and sobbed. Just let myself sob in relief and let it all out.

Isn't it sweet when the universe remembers to play nice? :battingeyelashes:

I'm very glad the universe is playing nice right now Sue. You've been quite a pillar for yourself through this, I'm surprised you've not had more 'down' moments. They'll pass in time and you'll get to focus on how lucky you were with him, and still are without. :Namaste: I know I'm not alone saying we're here for you if you need us though. Your shares are so personal and deep, it must be therapeutic letting it out here, though there's also people to share with in your 3-D world I know.

The ladies are looking lovely, and I'm excited to see you make use of your new cabinet space :) I know it will be very Sue, completely planned out and efficient, with flare :laughtwo:

You are so sweet Baby. This cycle should be just a wee bit more on the ball. :laughtwo:

Oh right and Super Silver Haze is a favorite of mine from stores. Just amazing bud, though I know a lot of growers here aren't too fond of Arjan and GSC. I bet if you did it next time around in your HB it'd be spectacular, or LOS, of course. :) I've seen some Amazing SSH plants grown here. I've never grown one though. I'm dying to.

African Buzz too argh. Lol let me look that one up. 2.53$ on Midweek Song you kidding me? Thats a steal! I'm down to do either or both :) :slide:

Let's go sativa then and make it African Buzz. I'll do it as a photo in the Tiny Closet. Try to get one of those bushy little wonders before flip like Graytail trains. I'm determined to learn to grow like that. Every grower develops a particular look, or so it appears to me, and I'm interested in seeing what my look is after a couple more cycles.

The look I'm really after is jars full. I miss jars full.

Hey Sue,

With the three lights durected to the main floor of the tent, are you sure you need supplemental light for the seedlings and the rack shelves?

It seems like you will be getting a lot of light there anyway.

The footprint put out by those three light arched over the right side of the tent won't really give me what I want for germination and vegging. They'll be like two separate, but not entirely separate spaces.

To be honest, I'm not actually sure Rad.

The cups for germinating will be under the CFLs , so close that this should be the dominant light source for them. The same should apply for the veg shelf under the T8s, which will be close enough the fixtures will shield the plants from much of the LED light.

More light is a good thing. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I've been sitting here cross-legged on the bed for a couple hours now (never did get anything done, but didn't have the energy for it anyway) and just noticed it's 1:05 AM and I haven't had anything to smoke in about six hours. What's that all about? Let me right that cosmic wrong. :cheesygrinsmiley:

For the past 35 years almost every single time I got high it was with Dale. That's probably why I don't think of it that often. Hmmm.

Is it as muggy where you are? Geez, it feels like you have to have gills here. Maybe this would be a good time to close it all up and turn on the air conditioning. Yep, sounds like a plan.

Awesome Sue. I think I'll order a couple of those at that price haha. Might start one asap. But I'll save a couple to go when you want :)

... and, done.

:) I figured why not get 5 at that price when I'm mostly paying for shipping anyways. I'll probably screw up a germination or two as well. Plus a super silver, why not. :passitleft:

I've decided my next seed order is going to be ACE seeds. I've been watching the grows and salivating. My little African Buzz will be my first sativa smoke, discounting one time in the late 70s that I suspect may have been a Columbian. I just know this is what I'm chasing. Right now I'm more concerned with getting the basic techniques somewhat mastered and increase my experience level so I can feel confident that I know what I'm doing.

I'm curious SoilGirl - how long have you been growing?

I'm a sativa fan myself. I don't like couch lock unless I am planning on sleeping. :circle-of-love:

Sleep? What is this sleep you speak of? :laughtwo:

My daughter asked me today when was the last time I actually slept a normal cycle and I was shocked to discover it was back when they amputated his foot on Feb. 13. I haven't slept longer than three hours straight since then.

I have no idea how I'm pulling it off.
