The Deep Water Culture Home

miller162. You are running your nutes too hot. 2 sets of leaves say you should be on 1/4 nutes and not 1/2 nutes. Take out about 2 gallons and put 2 gallons of ph'd water only in. You want to be very careful when upping the nutes when they are young.

I work it this way. Start with 1/4 nutes when you have 2 sets of leaves, grows well and gives you another set of leaves go to 1/2 nutes, grows another set of leaves and it goes to 3/4 and so on. That not a hard and fast rule because a lot will depend on if the plant likes nutes or is a little shy when it comes to needing nutes. It's more of a general guideline to help a new grower with starting them from babies when they are the most sensitive.

I am! I am!, That plant has been flowering since the beginning of Jan ! what do you want I'm still waiting for the trichs to either turn at least cloudy , I havn't seen any sign of cloudy or amber yet !!. :peace:

Alright then! Other than that MMM MMM MMM! May I stop by? When the trichs turn that is!:yummy:

Hey BH's! I understand that we need low humidity for flowering stage. Should I lower the humidity right away, or wait until that first week of transition?
Thx!

Good question Spy, I'm waiting for the answer too.:thumb:

Well it was 1/4 nutes for like a 5 days....so i upped it...and the Girl seems to be doing fine now all the temps are Down now...the roots are like 1/2 inch from hitting water...Im excited to see the explosion of growth. Yesterday there was just 1 little root poking out, looked this morning after they slept and now there are about 15 little roots comin through the netpot, i feel like once they hit the cool 65F nute solution they will explode im gonna wait and see what happens..

Alright fellow BH's here is a shot at what my new set up looks like im only goin to post one but i posted 7 in my journal if anyones interested.

Here is a post by Roseman on Temps and Humidity. Maybe something in there can answer your question?:smokin: I'm guessing it wouldn't hurt, but then again, why do something right away, maybe better to gradually change over a week? Growing this plant, I've found out the only thing that happens right away, is me making a mistake!

So in Deep Water Culture, it is normal to Not see explosive growth until the roots hit the water? My Res temp is finally the ideal mid 60s and my roots are just about to penetrate the water...im hoping and excited to see explosive vegging once the roots that are poking through the netpots, find their way to the water. :)

One other concern...ive seen a lot of journals where peoples roots hit the water in a week or so. i planted mine on 3/23 and the roots are just about to hit water...is this normal, thanks guys

Congratulations, OBXGardener

As it turns out postal scales suck. I put a nickle and it said zero. I ended up putting all the stuff in one jar and I think the real weight is 30 grams...tis ok for first grow. How long do I have to wait to smoke it?

I had other questions that were ignored if on purpose let me know if I am being a pain, no issue.

I use a digital postage scale all the time and find it very accurate. Do you zero it before you use it?

In my opinion, yes, you're in the ballpark time wise. Patience, grasshopper, patience. Variables that could affect growth are all over the board; temp, nutes, light and bubbles.

Hello from Doctor Who!:surf: to all of you that are new to the Deep Water Culture! hello to you again and welcome to the group an one of the best ways to grow! an that's with bubbles.

HELLO an :peacetwo:

Thanks bro!
Your ladies are looking fineeee. I dont know how I'm not subscribed to your grow!

That is some intense growth for 5 weeks dont you think?

Thanks for the rep... I just want every one to know yes I have cfl lights and yes I am in the process of adding more cfl's with a ghetto hood... However I have a 400 watt duel/digital ballast 19" cooltube light in there and a ghetto 150 watt hps also... So Yes I think for watts vs size I am right on track... Last time I checked i was pushing 90,000 lumens in 3 different K temps... :smokin:

Wait until you see the 48" cooltube with 3 400watt lights in it, duel ballast, I can move all three lights in the the 48" tube to "zone in on a plant"... And up and down of course on yo-yo's... :peacetwo: Bro reps when I can...

hey guys i was just checkin up on my girls and i noticed one of my rockwool was completely dried up to a crisp so i took out some hydroton and reajusted everythign. what i wasnt planning on was finding a BUNCH of little roots that i pulled out (didnt damage them) but i was concerned that i like crushed them by setting them down under the hydroton in horizontal kind of way instead of threaded through the hydroton like it was. idk maybe im just paranoid, all i did was try getting the rockwool moist with the feeding tube. hope i didnt stunt its growth :(

Don't worry, miller. They are tougher than that.

On the humidity question, The purpose of the lower humidity is to not make a bud suseptable to mold. You can crank it down slowly or do it all at once. It doesn't matter all that much. When you get some buds growing the humidity should be under 45 just to be safe. The bigger and denser your bud is the lower the humidity should be. Increased trich developement can also occur as the plant uses the trichs to sort of protect itself when things are relatively dry.
