The Beauty Of The Changing Seasons

This is the reason I wear gloves when I'm working in the woodsy areas of the property. I was getting some compost ready, and these girls are always crawling around and hiding in the leaves. That's an egg sac on her behind, and when they are dragging those, they are very aggressive ladies.

A creepy crawly to start 'yer morning off right. LOL

I can also see Snails queuing to throw themselves into a pool of beer

Honeysuckle reminds me of my childhood when daddy taught us how to suck them

I now remember the Old Folk teaching me that too :thanks: :high-five:

Poor Poor Canna, we demand more pics and then complain about what the subject is
I don't like spiders and snakes...:thedoubletake:...:circle-of-love:
:rofl::rofl:

The Honeysuckle looks beautiful, perfect surroundings for a cappuccino :thumb: Are the roots holding the bank together?

I don't like spiders and snakes...:thedoubletake:...:circle-of-love:

I remember when Mary Lou said
'You wanna walk me home from school'
And I said, 'Yes, I do'
She said, 'i don't have to go right home
And I'm the kind that likes to be alone
As long as you would'
I said, 'Me, too'

And so we took a stroll
Wound up down by the swimmin' hole
And she said, 'Do what you want to do'
I got silly and I found a frog
In the water by a hollow log
And I shook it at her
And I said 'This frog's for you'
She said...

Chorus:
'i don't like spiders and snakes
And that ain't what it takes to love me
You fool, you fool
I don't like spiders and snakes
And that ain't what it takes to love me
Like I want to be loved by you'

Well, I think of that girl from time to time
I call her up when I got a dime
I say, "Hello, baby'
She says, 'Ain't you cool'
I say, 'Do you remember when?
And would you like to get together again? '
She says, 'i'll see you after school'

I was shy and so for a while
Most of my love was touch and smile
Til she said, 'Come on over here'
I was nervous as you might guess
Still looking for somethin' to slip down her dress
And she said, 'Let's make it perfectly clear'
She said...

I don't like spiders and snakes
And that ain't what it takes to love me
Like I want to be loved by you'

Another first this year, besides the first time blooming, the Wisteria are now giving me seed pods! These are so cool, they look and feel just like velvet.

Wisteria_Seed_Pods_1.jpg

I didn't know for sure at first, so I cut a small one open and there are two seeds forming in it. Now I have to research when to harvest them, they are supposed to be dark and you can shuck them just like pea pods:

The whole pod turns brown and starts to split and the brown seeds (sometime) rattle around and (usually) the pods fall off the vine.

My tiger lily plants gave me lots of seeds this year. I actually got out there for them kind of late, some had already dropped in the dirt.

Anybody know how I should store these? Cool dark place? Sealed in a baggy or not?

{{singing to the tune of Sir Mix-A-Lot's "I like big butts"}}...........

"We like....Bee BUTTS..and we cannot lie!"......

Good guess AJ, I think that one was a bit easy. LOL

I couldn't get this honey bee to take his head out of the middle of the flower, he was so deep in there he almost disappeared.
These are my Mom's Tea Rose bushes, they went wild this year and the color is awesome.

Thanks on the seeds AJ, should I put them in a plastic baggy and seal it or just a can or something so they get airflow?

I'm going to post this here and on my grow thread to see if there are different opinions.

I've been reading about stinging nettles being a deterrence for animals around the garden. I am putting some serious consideration into transplanting some that I have here around the outdoor girls too keep the raccoons away from them.

Anyone know if this works to keep animals out, or if there are any major downsides to doing this? I'm sure I'll have to keep them trimmed down so they don't get ten feet tall. LOL

What'cha think?

I wouldnt touch those with a 10 foot stick! I hear they are annoying little buggers!

Annoying is a mild word for them. You do not want to touch them anywhere with bare skin! They are called "stinging" for a reason. LOL And they will keep stinging like thousands of needles for hours on end.

I have a pair of elbow high work gloves that I use when I have to yank these things out of my lawn and around the property.

Outside work today provided a couple pics.

This little weirdly winged moth made the cutest faces at me. Rabbit/chipmunk and nice "ohhhhh" face.

Did you tear the leg off a dragon fly, Canna?

Oh Heck no. I couldn't harm these things, they're just too pretty and comical.

You were right on it being a dragonfly, butt....I mean but...it's another bug butt shot.
I finally got a clear shot of one of these needle thin variety.
