Tead's Indoor-ish, Winter, Hempy, OGK, SOG

Way small... but my clippin finger's gettin itchy.

That pot is big enough to do a series of ground layering clones. Go ahead and top her now, to get those side shoots growing.

Sink a ring of solo cups around the rim, then when the baby has long enough side branches, pin them down to the medium in the solo cups. In about 2 months, you'll have rooted clones that can be separated from their mother.

I've seen the chat about ground layering. Seems problematic in a perlite medium. I could see trying it using sub-surface stakes. Thanks for the idea!

You could add something like vermiculite to the solo cups to provide a sturdier medium, then transplant to the full-perlite medium on up-pot. In my case, I am adding a light soil to the perlite, then will change mediums at up-pot.

Good to see you are staying dry man.

While I realize my brethren just slightly to the north or west are seriously swamped out, our local rainfall has been minimal really... only a few inches.
Of course, as with many situations, irony sits in on this round of poker. If that rainfall fell within our city, our pumps would have handled the issues and, while our days would have been rainy, flooding would have been minimal. Crazy.

Yeah, it's tough seeing friends over there going through it, but it seems to be drying out a bit, so that's always good. We caught enough to make some roads a bit deep, but no real issues.

It's never pretty. We're taking care of a buddy's pup for a week or two while they strip and rip the lower 1/2 of their house. I got away easy... most of his other buddies have been recruited to help in the strip and rip.

I've tried to avoid the news coverage myself. I'm surprised by the flood of emotions that seems to flow when I view it all.

I decided I was coming at this all wrong. I moved the little one into a smaller container and I'll transplant when she outgrows this.

I'm feeling bad Tead. I'm making hempy look harder than it is. I'll catch up one of these days and it'll all settle into a routine. I really want this to work. I can't get the experience if I can't get them to grow. I'm thinking I may be a soil girl. I'm not giving up, just trying another direction to the goal line.

You probably are making it look harder than it is... I suspect you may look back and chuckle at yourself over this comment some months or years from now. I'm already smiling about the idea of that moment. I have absolute and total faith that you will find your way thru the hempy jungle to the tropical fruit filled interior. We're all here to join you on the journey and watch you whack at the vines with your machete as we dance along the canopy.
Gee I'm feeling lyrically picturesque this morning.
How big is that container... 2L?

So I'm seeing signs of life in my little osmo seeding experiment. She's not looking great and is barely growing at all, but I have noticed forward progress. I think she popped about 2 or 3 weeks ago.

It's stretching every fiber of my being, but I've resisted cutting a clone from the Pineapple Chunk.
Soon little girl... I'll have my way with you. While I'll not use the phrase "defloweration", she's at least gonna loose her top soon!

Note empty peat pellet tray weighted by old padlock being used as a wind deflector. Serious jackleg action baby!

Maybe you have already done this, but have you tried adding fenders to the bike? They look like hell, but should do the job.

I've looked at the bolt on plastic one-piece molded variety. Small... subtle... effective. Seems the way to go.
On the other hand, a huge rooster tail in a rain storm is a good bit of fun.

Speaking of which... the storms are moving in. Morning spent heating the air and causing a lot of convection and evaporation. Spots of storms pop up in the afternoon feed by all the water from the previous day's rain. Wash, rinse, and repeat. It's the standard pattern that plays out daily this time of year unless some other weather event intrudes. Got the lawn mowed and jungle weeds sprayed well before the water will fall. I'm just constantly intrigued by storms and weather in general.

I am always interested in the weather as well. I have a friend who is a meteorologist and he explains or debunks my thoughts. It seems that south of 10 the Gulf will keep the weather to the north, he said I was right with that one, something to do with the air I think. It's all a bit over my head.

Rooster tails are fun, I guess it's a choice we make. Personally I like to just roll with it if I am caught in the wet. Back of the shirt dirty and drenched, needing a good wash. I am on a motorcycle versus a bike though.

Ya know... you're spot on about the I-10 division line. In the summer, the air mass over us is the gulf air mass. In the winter, the air mass covering the land moves down and covers us (usually). There are some really creative times when the two air masses battle it out over our heads. Of course, large storms can really edit that for a day or three... but generally it's a very predictable configuration.
