Tead's Indoor-ish, Winter, Hempy, OGK, SOG

I got a little over an oz on the last 2L. The 2L form factor is the driver behind my PVC pots. Love the way they fit in the garden, but I need more output. Hopefully the taller form will be a sweet spot. They're only about 2" wider than the 2Ls and I can make them any height I want.

A little over a oz! That's pretty good for a 2L lol. I kinda thought the 2L was the inspiration for the new PVC hempys.

Yup... stole your 2L ideas and ran with them. Thanks!
I'm a touch concerned about the height difference, but I was shooting for more root room. I may have slowed my normal grow time by a few days while the roots work down to the res, but the increased root space should be well worth it.
If these tubes work for me, they'll fit just perfect in my veg tent and bloom room. I can fit at least 9 of them (3x3) in the veg tent and I believe I have room for them to spread out in the bloom room.

Time will tell. I've got another one ready to go and I'm gonna cut a clone from the Pineapple Chunk and do some final-pot cloning.

A little update on the Osmo Seedling.

I dunno... she's still green, but she's sure not going anywhere.

Random rant...

So... I've got nothing but complete bitterness for Mr. Nixon and his ilk.
My sweetie is 10yrs my junior and only remembers the event as spoken of in the media. She didn't hear the childish Nixon talking about "The Jews", "The Niggers", or "The Waps". She never understands why I'm not willing to forgive him. Of course, she's not read the transcripts or listened to the tapes... because it's just not a big deal for her.

I mean... Holy Fuck... how can a human being reach that pinnacle and maintain such completely dysfunctional an self defeating concepts.
Oh he was a completely miserable bastard.
After Agnew was indicted, his choice for Ford was driven simply by the idea that nobody would kick his ass out of office with a perceived looser like Ford in the wings. No thought of what might be good for the country... just what served him best. Of course, then Ford pardoned him (don't get me started!)... but the stupid fucker couldn't understand that his acceptance of that pardon was very legally (and logically... why would one need to pardon an innocent person?) a real admission of guilt.

Sorry... there was a show on PBS about Dick Cavett and his Watergate interviews. Brought all the hatred right back into the crosshairs.

Hmm... I bet I've ranted about him here before... sorry.

Hey brother, just swinging through hope you are doing well. What's the latest on the storm? We all gonna die or what?

I really gotta quit thinking about them 'til they hit the gulf. I think I learn that lesson most years. One in the gulf, but headed over the panhandle rather than the bayou. No need to drag out the generator yet.

So... tragedies in the garden.
Big CF died... gotta order a new one. Picked up a T-5 fixture for $20. Never run T-5s before.
My PVC tubes have all developed leaks. Sealant is the issue. One might assume 'waterproof' means 'waterproof'. One would be a touch off. A close review reveals the words 'not for submerged use' in the microscopic spewage of words on the tube. Picked up some marine caulk today and will re-do them.

Speaking of PVC... cutting a straight/square line on a 6" piece of PVC turns out to be a challenge. A touch of internet research reveals some ways. I used the paper method. Wrapped a piece of drywall tape around it making sure the paper was perfectly aligned where it met. Drew the line with a sharpie. Hand hacksawed carefully around it creating a channel for the hacksaw to set it, then cut around it following the channel.

So much work going on in my world. Crazy. And we just closed on another unit that needs plenty of love.

Hang in there Tead, easier days are ahead. That's why you're putting in all this time now. Congrats on the new project and may it be a profitable venture both monetarily and socially.

I certainly would have assumed the words "waterproof meant...... yeah, I'm pretty gullible. Lol!

All your little ones look eager to get on with growing. Glad to see it. :battingeyelashes:

I know. I see it every year. Amazes me how different my garden is during the 2 seasons.
Man... I just can't wait for the heat to break. November will be here soon enough. I get 3 fingered leaves because of the heat and humidity... can't wait to see some 5 fingered ones again.

I'm not sure the PC will continue in my garden. It's not looking like a very good fit in my hot/wet world. The Afgann on the other hand.... might be a keeper.
I've still got about 4 more varieties of seeds to try from my previous seed order. It will be interesting to see which genetics stick in the garden and which fall to the wayside.

So... ya know how it is when you're writing some large post and have to scroll up and down to review and reference?
It drives me nuts that the edit window is only a few lines long.
I discovered today that you can easily stretch it right down.
While I'm happy I found it, I'm ashamed it took me so long.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I didn't know this either, you wonderful man. :kisstwo: Look at the number of posts I've done with the tiny screen. Lol! God, I'm glad we're friends.

:( That function apparently doesn't work on the iPad. *sigh*. Oh well, it was a delightful moment of whimsy while it lasted. :battingeyelashes:

I love the tall PVC idea to get the roots some room but minimize the side to side space. Would work fantastic in a drip system too.

It's amazing how awful people can seem less awful with time. New people are born whom only see someone from what they are told. So some will think Nixon was a hero.

People see Ulysses Grant on money and don't know that his whole strategy during the civil war was to force contact with the confederacy. He had more soldiers so if they lost equal numbers that was considered a "win." Not a great general in my opinion. It will be interesting to see what we think of Trump and Clinton after 10 years...

Sue when I'm writing a longish post my words end up filling the screen and disappearing down offscreen. Is that what you're talking about? In a moment of inspiration I figured out that I could go down to the end, hit return a bunch, and that brings the precious words up on screen again. Confusing? Try it.

I loved Hunter S Thompson's descriptions of Nixon. No mercy.

Never realized the tid bit about Grant. To be fair, that was the prevailing tactic at the time. Amass an army larger than enemy and launch them as fodder towards the enemy. It was a very different kind of warfare really designed around the musket and pig sticker, and smooth bore artillery. Guerilla warfare techniques were introduced and used during this time and really form some of the basis for today's various forms of effective movement and fire ideas.
Man... once a grunt, always a grunt.

I've seen in many of my hempy postmortems a tendency for the roots to spread out both high and low with large connecting roots between. It's my hope that the PVC tubes will provide a more even root mass thru the entire pot. Time will tell. Diggin it so far tho.
I saw some 10" PVC at a water line construction project. Considered picking up some scrap pieces but decided I had enough toys to play with.

I have a Hunter secret.... don't tell anyone!
I knew a dude... you've met him... you know... you open the dictionary to 'douche bag' and see his smiling face. He used to love HST and as a cig break buddy, he spewed about him regularly. As such, I was just kinda turned off when any thought or words about HST floated around. Thus, I'm mostly unfamiliar. My hatred of Nixon significantly outweighs my irritation at the douche bag smoking mate (a lawyer.... of course), so I'll choke down a touch of bile and read HST's words about Nixon.

Did he speak of Reagan? He got his political start writing for Nixon.

Off to dig. Thanks for the tip!

So.... I got some breathing room this morning and tackled a lighting problem.
My large CF bulb died. It served well beyond it's intended term and needed to be replaced anyway.
I decided I'm just not a huge fan of the bulbs with the ballast built into their bases. I kind of suspect that building the ballast into the base is a bit of a hack that might cause more heat generation. Since heat is so important in my world, I decided to try T5s. I picked up a small 2 tube fixture as a test. If I like them I may add 1 or 2 more fixtures.

The need....

Burning it in a bit before I hang it.

I was a touch blown away by how good everything was looking in there this morning. Perhaps my dead flouro was way past it's prime.

The PC. Note small lower growth up main stem.

Southern Decadence hits town this weekend. The sweetie and I are going to paint the interior of a house over the upcoming long weekend. No doubt we'll find a chance to witness the craziness in the F.Q. I'll be sure to snap a photo or two that can be shared in public.

One of these days I'm going to invest in a PAR meter to check the CFLs. I keep meaning to mark them, but I never do, so there's no way of knowing how effective they really are without a meter.

I think you'll be pleased with the T5 unit. Kuddos on finding it so affordable. :high-five: The light heat should now come a non-issue for you. :yahoo: The plants will enjoy getting more light too. I'm excited for you Tead. :yahoo:

Haha! I had to share. I just checked my User CP and I have exactly 420 notifications.

I didn't check them at all yesterday. That's a lot of catching up to do. :laughtwo:
