Tead's Indoor-ish, Winter, Hempy, OGK, SOG

My water has chloramines in it, and that doesn't dissipate by evaporation. I have to add organic matter to it. I'm pretty sure in this case it'd be better to treat the water with a smidgen of compost or peat moss (is peat moss an acceptable option? :hmmmm: ) instead of using molasses.

hmmm.... I dunno. I tend to shy away from any idea of introducing any sort of organic matter into the neutral medium. Seems like it might be bad juju. Does molasses work? I've used that in hempy pots before with no apparent negative impact.

I know peat moss lowers ph not sure what it would do to chlorine. Think you could boil the chlorine out?

skimmed real quick so maybe i missed it but everyone looking to start hempys should atleast have a ph meter if ya don't already. I would suggest a ppm meter but frankly i don't really use the one i have lol.

I've never ph'd water. I grow in LOS - very lazy and spoiled. :laughtwo: This is Greek to me. I'll seek one out. I don't recall seeing any at Lowe's while I was there today. Looks like a rain forest Prime purchase.

It might be easier to start with distilled water from the grocery store and all all your nutes. That way you know exactly what is in it.

*DING!* We have a winner! :laughtwo: Thanks AKgramma. I don't know why that didn't occur to me.

So I still need the containers, I still need the ph meter, which means I need some natural way to raise or lower ph, correct? And I still need to review the Osmo threads. What else? Will I need Cal/Mag, or can I substitute something natural? Tead, you use a foliar of milk and Epsom salts? At what ratio?

I have some packing to do for the next culling pickup on Friday and I have the insomnia info to process. Then I can focus in on this. The two little ones I have growing now :yahoo: can get their feet under them, then I'll introduce one plant every two weeks from then on in hempy buckets. I think I'll return the MG perlite and go ahead and order a big bag from Home Depot. It'll be here in two weeks. Better yet, hang onto these bags until the new order comes in. Then I can't be screwed over by finding all the perlite sold.

Well Tead, this turned into an interesting month, no? :laughtwo:

I use apple cider vinegar to lower ph and i use baking soda mixed into some water in a dropper bottle to raise ph. Distilled water is what i use and that's where i get some of my containers to grow in.

Sweet Sue and Tead, please go look at my journal, post #380. The transplant was a whole lot easier than I thought it would be!

Already checked it out. Great job. :thumb:

Check the swim pool supply isle.

Not foliar. I just add 2tsp milk and 1tsp epsom salt to every gallon. The only foliar spraying I ever do is for bugs. Way too lazy for that noise.

Sure has. Nothing like some new hempy growers to keep your interest level up.... it's a good thing.

I'll be running out to Lowe's again to return the perlite (ordered 2 cu ft of unpolutted) so I'll look for the meter before I order on line. Buckets should be easy enough to find in black. I have a Dollar General right across the street and I know they carry them. If I'm careful about moving them I can use the totes I use for drenching to catch runoff when I water, so that means I've almost gathered all of my supplies.

I have to say, this will be one of the most inexpensive runs I'll have attempted. It has the potential to be less work than LOS. If it can match flavor and potency.....

Alright, you've distracted me enough for now. I really need some breakfast. Start with the brownie. :battingeyelashes:

That exceeds the height of my 'lazy bar'. I limbo under that one by just using a bit straight from the box. It seems to immediately melt into the water and shows full effect on my ph meter after a touch of shaking my jug to mix it.

I only do it that way since i read to much baking soda can be bad lol

Man... way behind. Didn't even get my feeding in this morning.

So... toys in the mail.... very nice. I decided to give a bottle of CalMag a try for a while... call me crazy.

And finally....

The peat pellets have shown nothing yet. I'm starting to be convinced that peat pellets work in winter, and perlite works in summer.

For PH, I use an aquarium PH testing kit, with the tubes and the drops. It's more accurate than the strips, and a whole lot less expensive than a good digital PH meter.

I'd be a penny or two that you're going to change your stance on this idea.
Can your drops tell the difference between 5.5 and 5.8? You kinda need that granularity. Double check that your kit even indicates for PH down in the 5's... many made for pools don't.

Can you sprout the seed right in the perlite Tead? Tell me it's this easy. :laughtwo:
