Tead's Indoor-ish, Winter, Hempy, OGK, SOG

This will make you smile. I just realized I could fit a 2L hempy off to the side in my closet under a refector of CFLs. :laughtwo:

Let me get back home and work this out. What do you feed a plant in this medium? Oh damn! A million new questions to answer. I need to be responsible and get other projects finished first. The insomnia thread calls to be posted.

Let's talk Tead. Guide me. :battingeyelashes: I need to get out of this restaurant and get my groceries. Later. :ciao:

Awesome! You're in the right thread for some hempy love.
What are the average temps of your grow area? What nutes do you have in mind?

Check out the trigger discussion for the recent conversation over on this thread. I took to the pulpit in rare form. It was fun.

That was priceless! :laughtwo: I had to hit you with reps for that one my friend. Rare form indeed. I was reading the discussion between you and AKgramma at the precise moment I was thinking I need to order another bag of perlite for my SWICK reservoir. That was when the flash hit me that I have that tiny space off to the sides of my closet grow area. It gets wasted, but if I place a couple 2L bottles there, right up against the reservoirs, they'd benefit from the light too. The panel will easily accommodate that side addition. I can put some CFLs out there to supplement.

In fact, if I put the no-tills on the smaller reservoirs I was using in the tent I have enough perlite on hand to plant as soon as I clean up the perlite and figure out nutrients.

Oh Tead, I don't know nutrients at all, or their use. That's why I'm an LOS no-till gardener. I don't have to think about it. This is where you step in. Where are the posts that show you pulling them together? What should I look for in nutrients? What organic lines are best for our purposes?

I have room for buckets instead of 2L, but I'd have to get more perlite.

Sweet Sue, you are asking the very questions I have! Tead just got two disciples! I'm going to sacrifice one of my 3 gallon bins that has yet to have holes drilled. I'll drill the one hole in a corner. The bins are 12" x 15". will that be too much area for the reservoir, Tead?

Tead can correct me if he wants but you usually put the hempy hole around 2inchs from the bottom. Very rough estimate just so you know i usually go about a inch to inch and a half but im doing 2L and milk jugs

I'm honored to be learning next to you AKgramma. It's about time we met, don't ya think? We've bumped into each other here and there, but this gives us an opportunity to get to know each other better. This lad's been after me to try a hempy grow for the better part of a year now, making it look so tempting and all. He is a smooth talker, isn't he? :laughtwo:

How deep is your planting container? You know, this is completely foreign to me, and other than admire Tead's plants I never gave this more than a cursory glance because...... I grow in LOS no-tills. I had to start over again and I need something extra. How nice of you and Tead to inspire me like that. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Sad to say, I've never checked any of your own work out. I'm completely wiped out tonight, but tomorrow I'll track you down.

What size milk jugs lexort? I'm going to have to purchase something I don't drink to get the bottles. Lol! I should check out your journal tomorrow as well.

I'll see the two of you tomorrow. :Namaste:

One of these days I may take your advice and try the 2 ltr bottle grow. I have scads of perlite on hand. It's a matter of space and planning. I'll be growing for oil production, which means I need to be more attentive to increasing yield within a more restrictive space, now that the tent had to come down.

Cute attempt at subliminal messaging there. :laughtwo:

Evidentally you're more powerful with those subliminal messages than you thought you were Tead. Does this method require clones? I don't clone. I have no one to clone. I have a ton of seeds, so tell me I can do this with seedlings.

Disciples... sacrifices... We're getting old school religious up in this joint!

The 12x15's would probably work fine... probably. Kind of spread out tho.
I believe you'd be better off with a taller bucket with less 'spread'.
Restaurants are a good source of ad-hoc growing buckets. They often have 3gals (pickle buckets) that are a nice form. Construction or someone doing home repair can be another good source... lots of various adhesives come in nice 3gal roundies.

I was thinking exactly the same. Been seeing her posts here and there... then I decided to whip out my fish-o-matic (Ronco... you know it's quality!) and lure a new victim.

What size milk jugs lexort?
He's doing 1gals... and they really look good.

Not powerful... just patient. The power lies in the obvious advantages.
No... no clones needed. I use clones because I'm too cheap to buy seeds (usually) and too lazy to make them.

What are you two ladies planning on for a nutrient source?
The options are really myriad. I've even seen human urine grows (yes... it works.. but do ya wanna smoke it?).
If you want to steer clear of the liquid nutrient regimes, you could always go with the Osomocote+ or Dynamite options.
I go both ways (oh my!). Got an OsmoGirl going along side my DynaGro fed girls.

Hey Lex....

The larger pots were all still quite wet. There was a certain 'clumping' feeling when I wiggled my finger around a touch.
The 2L was notably drier with no 'clumping' feeling when I wiggled my finger around.

... and they felt exactly the same today. I really feel that the wicking action from the perlite up from the res is the reason for the moisture stability.
Might have to pick up one of those soil moisture level probes. My impressions and observations would be better described with actual numbers.

Ya i grow in cut down 1gal milk jugs they are technically water jugs since i buy distilled water i figured misewell make use of them

Theres my current one she's sally the sour diesel lol. So its not even a full gallon anymore.

It always makes me chuckle to hear your digging the 2L's cause your the reason i grow hempy and i know i pushed ya to consider the small containers lol

There's always some new angle to try. I mean, that's why we're all here after everything is said and done.
I'm waiting for you and Weas to try Osmo+ run (wait... have you guys done that yet..)... or get creative with other nute sources.
I often feel very limited by garden size and wish for more space and more electricity. When one is feeding a need, coloring outside the lines can be ugly... but one always wants to try things.

Ya know i might try osmo in the future i do like the concept. Is that still the first 2L girl or is it another? I forgot lol things blur sometimes lol

So I need a start-up list and I've some questions.
- Will I need to ph? If so I need to order a meter. Any preferences here?
- I'm thinking Osmo + is the easiest to acquire. Please direct me to the posts that explain how to begin.
- Water jugs! Thanks lexort. :hugs: These I buy to use. Hadn't thought of them. :laughtwo::
- Do I sprout the seed in a solo and then drop it into the perlite after it establishes roots?
- The Osmo + is all I'll need to feed it? I suppose if I wanted I could figure out how to get one through using bioaccumulator teas. That's a future exploration.
- I'll be running autos exclusively while confined to the tiny closet. I can't think of any reason that should make any difference. I have some nice Sweet Seeds autos they sent me as a gift that'd be a nice way to start off the adventure with. One's called Blow Mind Auto. :laughtwo: Its a cross of Amnesia Haze and Seeet Seeds Sweet Afghani Delicious Auto. Yummy!

Here and ready to learn Tead. I'm shooting for a start in about two weeks. I'm going to attempt to restart a perpetual and I'd like to space it out every two weeks from here on out, like arteekay and Jay do. I got a little excited here at the beginning, starting two at once, but that can be adjusted as I go.

Yes... and I highly recommend you use a pen, but have no guidance on brand. I went for the cheapest one I could find at Amazon. It's lasted at least a year now and it was only ~$15. Don't forget to pick up some calibration fluid. I use just the PH7 stuff... others test and adjust at various PH's... but I am lazy after all.

Water jugs! Thanks lexort. :hugs: These I buy to use. Hadn't thought of them. :laughtwo::

Be sure to wrap them in a couple layers of duct tape or paint them black. You don't want light anywhere under the medium.

Do I sprout the seed in a solo and then drop it into the perlite after it establishes roots?

Whatever routine is working for you. It doesn't really matter. Sometimes I cut clones and put them into the final bucket covered by an opaque dixie cup to maintain humidity while they root. I'd stay with what works for you.

The Osmo + is all I'll need to feed it? I suppose if I wanted I could figure out how to get one through using bioaccumulator teas. That's a future exploration.

Yup. You may feel the need to supplement with whatever... but that depends on too many variables to touch. You'll have to observe the plant, but as a soil grower, you're quite familiar with how they should look and how new growth is lighter green.
Experience will help you here.

I'm thinking Osmo + is the easiest to acquire. Please direct me to the posts that explain how to begin.

I went back digging... but it's way spread out. I was back at page 30 something and had Osmos going way back then.
Depending on your container size, you would feed more or less when you put the medium in the pot. A 2L, I'd probably mix in 120g of Osmo+ to start with. One can use additional standard nutes if issues arise. I don't think you actually can overfeed with just Osmo+... it releases thru the membrane until an equilibrium is hit. I suspect the more you put in, the longer it will last as opposed to burning your babies.

I'll be running autos exclusively while confined to the tiny closet. I can't think of any reason that should make any difference.

Me either... tho the smaller grow pots might be a really good fit for Autos. I've never done any autos... I'll be curious to watch. Lex and Weas have both done Hempy Autos I believe.
