Tead's Indoor-ish, Winter, Hempy, OGK, SOG

You just have the flower rooms on opposite 12 hour schedules. If vegging in the flower room use a single CFL one hour in the dark period to break the flowering signal.

Well doesn't that just make perfect sense. I like the touch of GLR tossed in.

There are some further twists that cause this to be problematic. I really run on the very bleeding edge of the heat boundary in the summer months. July-Sep are usually times where I can only maintain temps within the veg tent. I shut down the grow room during that time.
I really have tried many, many things over these many years to avoid the problem, but have settled on just not flowering during those months. My recent words about creating new chambers really has it's basis in the heat problem.
Adding heat to this configuration (even led) would really push me hard towards that heat line and cut a month off either side of my growing window. Running big lights during the day is a tough pill to deal with as well.

My current plan is a foam insulated flower box with the AC unit or heater and fan mounted at one end. Kind of a rectangular wind tunnel. This will exhaust into the veg tent, then out.

It's a touch of a zen balancing act.
Timing and flow of plants from veg space to flower room... always a tricky issue to keep on top of. Especially so now with the plan for 2Ls to hit the flow.
Size utilization and height planning.
Heat dissipation and airflow.

These are just some of the larger knobs on the "variable machine" I call a garden. Twist one knob just a touch and all the others can spin crazily.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again.... growing in a tin shed deep in the swamplands is one of the largest equations equaling failure that I can even begin to imagine.
Perhaps someday I can convince the spousal unit to allow some change in that arrangement.

So... I got a regular little side gig that walks me thru the French Quarter and some of the biz district.
I stopped today to use a restroom in a hotel lobby. Stolled in... took care of business and was drying my hands when I noticed a sign on the wall...

"Pregnant women are cautioned against drinking while pregnant... yada yada yada... birth defects... fetal alcohol syndrome..."

In the men's room.
Man... there's just way too much drinking going on around here.

Perlite clones... not doing so good. It's been too cold for them.

OsmoGirl... looking quite good

Osmo2 has a big stretch in the middle of her. She was getting some light blocking from 5gal.

2L looking good. Still ramping up her feeding.

Temps were up into the lower 70's yesterday and the day before. Freezing before that. Now back to chilly. The fluctuations cause me to dance a bit adjusting my grow room ventilation. The cooler temps are really screwing my clones.

The 2L is at 1.5tsp. I want here to get to 2 before I shove her out into the grow room.

I decided to visit here before I got lost in exercising.

I feel for the clones. I can't believe the cold weather followed me to the southwest.

Back from Vegas and had more than two pages to catch up on, but the conversation always makes me feel like I'm sitting at the feet of greatness. :laughtwo: Some really good ideas floating around here.

On the topic of small vs large: Dr Ziggy ran small pots on a SWICK tray last year and got 1 gram a day for the effort. Pretty damned impressive, if you ask me. I need to focus on growing for oil production, which brings some different considerations into the equation, but if I was just growing for recreational use, that'd be something I'd be seriously considering. It was my intention last grow to mimic his approach, but grief threw a big wrench into those plans and I never got up to potential.

B A R's discovering something akin to this with his own grow. He recently switched from the 2liters he'd been running to 3-5 gallon pots and immediately discovered that he was taking up more space but harvesting about the same amount. Yeah, that surprised and frustrated him, but he's chosen to continue the experiment to see if he can learn training techniques to maximize yield in those larger pots. If that doesn't pan out I'm fairly certain he'll go back to smaller containers.

OK, it was so nice to stop, but I really must be responsible and get to work here. The trophy wife body requires actual work to get there. :laughtwo:

I've kinda got a plan going for a "growing machine" kind of approach that may allow me to maintain the flowering tent during the summer heat. Stay tuned...

So far it seems like osmo is a win win product for you Tead. And fits into the lazy grower style as well. Will you top dress when they go 12/12?

Oh yes... I'm kinda just watching her grow out and see how her nutrient schedule go. Before I push her out, I'll try to get a nice flat top on her.
Feeding them is a bit odd. I've been jumping them up in 10g increments. The Osmo I add probably doesn't hit full release levels until a few waterings after it's been put in the medium. I'm trying to push them along gently and stay on the safe side.

70 sumthin later today. Probably see lower 80's this weekend. Sure is a challenge for cooling a tin shed. I may have to drag out the AC.

Of course, stunning parade weather. If you're up for a road trip, this weekend's round of parades should be warm and fun. I really like the weekends before Mardi Gras. Much more low key... many less tourists... fewer drunken idiots.

I grew up down there and we always did a trip to New Orleans a week before Mardi Gras and took off just before it started. We had all the best places to ourselves and gorged on oysters like pigs at a trough.

Mmmmmm

Tead's lazy secret bean recipe...

4 cans Blue Runner beans... I use the creamy creole style. The big cans... about 2 soup cans worth.
Pig parts... doesn't matter much. I use ham hocks. Usually 2. Any pork bits will do.
2 cup cajun trinity mix. Finely chopped bell pepper, onion, and celery in equal amounts. We can buy it in the stores locally... you may have to make your own.
Some sausage. I use Double D Hot Sausage. Use whatever floats your boat... but go with something with a little kick. It's your main source for spicy-ness.
Lots of garlic.
1tsp (ish) tyme
A dash of cayenne.

Cook sausage to remove fats.
After cooling, cut the sausage up and put it in a big ass pot on the stove. Assemble all the other ingredients in the list and dump it all into the pot. Stir it all up and set it on simmer. A crock pot works well, but mine just isn't big enough.
Simmer it all for at least 12 hours stirring it often enough to keep it from sticking to the pot.
I cook mine low and long. Usually about 24 hours.

Serve hot over white rice. A little french bread goes well with the mix.

I was saying "Beans"... the proper phase is "Beans and rice".
It's a very traditional meal. Usually cooked on mondays. Back in the day, little spanish ladies did their laundry down at the banks of the Mighty Mississippi every monday. They'd put beans on the stove monday morning so they'd have something to serve for dinner.
Any restaurant in the city will have it on the menu every monday.

There you go making me hungry again.

LOL! I can smell it from here Tead. I'll be right over.
