Tead's Indoor-ish, Winter, Hempy, OGK, SOG

An observation....
So, when I grind up my own herb, I get like frickin inches of powder from a few good sized buds.
When I grind up anything I've ever purchased, I get like a light sprinkling from a quarter... and I always tend towards quality.
WTF?!?!
How does so much get lost along the way? Is it purposely removed?
It's just such a glaring contrast....

Nice to have my own little version of a snow storm!

Very interesting observation that I can verify. I wasn't growing for a while there and had a new grinder. Ran smooth as silk and the kief compartment was mostly empty. Right after my first crop it was so jammed with powder I couldn't believe it. On the house smoke it requires constant cleaning of kief and the bottom compartment fills quickly. Purchased herb is nothing like it sadly.

I also notice that people just don't know how to cure but that is another gripe.

Im just a weeee bit fried mentally lol. But hey since you picked my brain on the 2L bottle grow, i need to pick your brain again on how long it takes to root in perlite roughly? So far my vlones.are like day 8 since i took em and they are yellowing a bit that usually means roots are growing atleast it did when i put clones in jiffy pellets but anyways i really would like to avoid taking them out of the perlite to check for roots until there really are roots lol. Pretty sure we.talked about this before i just am drawing blanks lol

No worries... love chatting about things.
I start looking for signs of rooting around 2 weeks. My garden is not your garden and your times may vary substantially from mine of course. If I get to 3 weeks, I get real worried. At 4 weeks, I'd call it done and kill it if it was not rooted.
One technique I use to try to find roots... I use my sprayer with my usual spray mix to move the perlite out of the way and try to peek down the stem. Then, when you're done looking, float the perlite back into place using the same spraying technique.
I also include a touch of nutes in all my spray water and I use the spray water to water the clone medium.
My spray mix - 1/8tsp silica, 1tsp epsom, 1tsp milk, 1/8tsp grow nutes. Ph'd to 5.5.
I spray the clones pretty much any time I'm in the garden... the opaque solo cups I use for humidity domes have a hole in the top that I can spray water thru.
I spew all the spray words thinking that maybe you should incorporate some minor foliar feeding program into your clones. I feel this is what keeps my clones alive and green so long.

Hmmmm ya i just spray with plain water. When I was cloning with jiffy peat pellets I'd see roots around 10-14 days with this method. I thought nutes would cause the cuttings to focus on growth instead of roots?

Ya know... that's a school of thought I just don't subscribe to. I get it... kinda makes sense.... I guess.
To me, what makes better sense and what I seem to see, is to keep the cut babies as healthy as possible while they work to create roots. Starving a plant and causing it to consume nutrients stored in the leaves doesn't seem to work best for me.
I have seen some impact on the situation caused by clipping the leaves... especially removing any less than optimal areas. My wheels turn really slowly when it comes to incorporating new ideas like this one. I've been trying it out some lately.

What do you mean by this? Do you mean clipping the tips of the fingers cause I do that. Sorry like i said mentally fried lol

Photos and feedings...
Temps were at 33 outside. Cilantro and strawberries were well frosted.
Veg tent staying above 65 at night. Not great... but the best I can do with the available resources.
Flower room got down to 60. Again, not great.
I took some clones and put them in perlite the other day. They sure could use some heat. Put them on top of the light fixture to add some heat to them. That should keep them above 75.
10g to Osmo2 bringing her to 40g total. Left OsmoGirl at 50g. I'm going to ramp up more, but I'm breaking new ground and I'm being a bit touchy.

Betty up first...

Phew!
Weather should be warming today and further over the next few days.

Everything is looking great tead! About how tall is your 2-liter girl?

She's about the height of the 2L container.
I considered converting her to flower already, but I think I'm gonna stay with my 2x container size goal.
Normally, I raise nute levels slowly based upon the color of the new growth. She was really big in the clone cup and I didn't start her feeding schedule until I put her in the 2L container. Just trying to get her up to full strength before I move her to flower will be a challenge.
Next time I take clones, they'll go right into a 2L container for cloning. I'm not gonna bother with smaller containers for cloning when the 2Ls are already so small.

I'm really beginning to wonder if my large plant goals are valid. I'll be pissed if I've been barking up the wrong tree all these years. I can see producing more mass in the same footprint. I mean, everyone loves a big sexy mamma, but several smaller hoochie mammas just might be the way to grow.
Oh damn... I'm callin them hoochie's from now on.

Damn you Lex... I'm blaming all these fluctuating thoughts and feelings. I'm in a pretty flippy-floppy kinda way at the moment.

Hahaha well tead why dont you try one 2-L clone in a budcicle and another one as a christmas tree and one more that has been lst'd i figure if you try those and hate 2-L bottles atleast you tried it! Lol you are why i converted to hempy and i might just convert you to small containers lol. Your welcome lol

I was planning to say those exact words... great minds and all.

I'll be trying several routines.
Natural grow
Single topping
Multiple topping
Tie downs
Droop plant - topping with branches tied down the side of the container about 1/2 the height of the container.

My "droop plant" thought needs a few more words.
This is really a small take off of LST ideas where you bend the branch down below the height of the bend. Just ramping that idea up a bit and doing a similar function in a larger design. One big ring of wire around the container holding all the branches down.

These are my thoughts and logic on the idea. Logic is often not your friend in the grow room.

That oughta keep you busy lol. Im curious what exactly has peaked your interest in small containers? I mean your bushy big girls are really nice, do you think the small plants would better or worse in your space? I know why i grow in small containers just curious about your reasoning's.

Veg tent size has a large impact here. The 5gal girl really hit that point home for me. She completely filled the veg tent and I really wanted to keep vegging her, but just didn't have the room.
I ripped some 10ft 2x4's down to 1x2's the other day with my neighbor's table saw. I've got about 15 of them I was planning on using for a flower chamber, but now I'm thinking about an upsized veg chamber.
