Tead's Indoor-ish, Winter, Hempy, OGK, SOG

We got a break in the weather today, 75F with 60% humidity (much better than the 95F and 85 RH yesterday,) so I've been laying pavers in the back yard -Trying to lay a doughnut shape around the fountain without having a good center point to inscribe a circle.

My wife came out and said, it's just for us, no need to be perfect - once she said that things sped up quite a bit :) I still am taking breaks after an hour or so in the sun, so probably only got 5 hours of actual work in today :)

A/C that stays off sucks! Can you find a non-digital A/C unit or override the unit with a mechanical thermostat?

Did you just compare Tead's legs with chicken legs!!!

No such break for your southern brethren. The best I can hope for is clouds blocking the sun... usually with an inch or two (saw a 3 the other day!). Frequent smaller breaks with tons of water is the best one can do. A cool shower at the end of the day will bring some energy back and a good night's sleep does wonders too. I sure am happy it's not my standard fare.

I have a smaller AC with a mechanical mechanism, but installing it causes a chain reaction of other things that would need to happen before installation, and I've not been able to tackle the other jobs. I've been tempted to pick up a UPS and not worry about small bumps, but those suckers are spendy and the heat really kills batteries quickly.

Man... that reminds me... gotta get to work on the other backyard fireplace bench some day soon. 3 wood 4x4s mounted into round brick piers.

Now if you really were a lazy dude, you can just use coconut oil and make big batch of budder. Take a 1/2 cup add whatever extras you're using give them that,,,, and eat the rest. That budder is an oil. Great for skin care,, and for massages I'd think? Hopefully it all works for ya.. But I have friends that uses our budder as a topical.. Keepem Green

Man.... the PVC tubes need to get into the bloom room. The 2Ls are wearin out quick. Down from the usual 13 plants to 3.

Tead,
I used to work an Amplifiers and almost every electrical appliance has an electrical schematic available. Find the timer circuit and bypass it. It usually is clearly defined within the schematic. It usually involves either unsoldering and then re-wiring, or just re wiring. If you do it and it doesnt work just refer to the pic u took before you did it.

BTW is it turning off because the condensation collector is full?

Seems like everything is electrically connected. I attempted to put truck transmission into park this morning. Shifter went into Park, transmission into Reverse and shifter was stuck. Seems that there's a A/T Shift Lock Actuator in there that may be farcked.

One more time I got to use my Roadside Assistance.

Ok so I came over here to let you know that I stepped out into the abyss. So I took a one gallon vinegar jug and cut the top off SweetSue style. Then taped it up with black Gorilla tape. So I know I'm supposed to drill a hole about 2 inches from bottom.

Is that right? What size bit?

i have a sack of perlite and Osmo+. Osmo+ is couple years old been in shed. I guess it will work. How much of that stuff is spread throughout the perlite?

Gotta wash perlite too...Is that right?

Do you germ the seed in the perlite?

Does this make you happy?

With all the warm water around us, we often see afternoon thunderstorms. As an added bonus, it's hard to run utilities underground in the swamp and our power is mostly above ground. This leads to a lot of lightning hits and power blinks. The AC is not designed to power back on after an outage while everything else (lights) comes back on. Thus the overheat... a power blink I was away for.
Damn heat.

I often go with a slightly higher res... like 2.5 or 3 inches. I do a 3/4" hole.
In my 2L grows I ran 5-7g Osmo+. In my 6L pots, I used 14g. If I were doing a gallon container, I might start at 11 and work my way up. Sometimes I really feel I'm underfeeding. I'm sure you'll find your own sweet spot.
Check out the Osmo manufacturer's website... they have a chart that somewhat addresses nutrient level change with temp changes... they express it as longevity rather than nutrient levels... but at least it's a rough indicator.
I layer the Osmo as I put it in. I start with a slight layer of perl in the bottom, then toss in a few balls of Osmo, then fill with perl to the hole, then another thicker layer of Osmo right at hole level, then fill in with layers of perlite and Osmo trying to distribute it fairly evenly. There are many thoughts on the best way to layer or mix your Osmo, but Tead's settled into the laziest way of course.

I generally don't rinse my perlite unless it's especially dusty. The Miracle Grow stuff is very fine and dusty. I use the Vigoro stuff without rinsing. I do give new pots a flush (initial wetting really) with tapwater followed by a flush with my PH'd water.

I do germ or clone in perl, but I live in a very unique world. Use your own techniques here... unless they involve soil.
Repeat after me.... soil or other biologically active mediums should never be mixed into the perl... bad things can grow... this IS a hydroponic method after all... it just feels a lot like soil.

Lookin great MagicJim! And yah.... I'm smile'n. It's such an easy thing. Fun to spread it around. Easy for soil growers to pick up on, and super easy for hydro folks.

Well, this brought a sweet smile to my face. Good work Jim. :high-five: I've been using the bottled nutes Jim, the ones that don't require pH adjustment. I find they work better than Osmo. Osmo works, don't get me wrong, but that tree I'm growing in my closet is a testimony to the RX Green Solutions line I'm using.

Bipalium

per wiki:
Bipalium is a genus of large predatory land planarians. They are often loosely called "hammerhead worms" or "broadhead planarians" because of the distinctive shape of their head region.

They eat earthworms, a lot of earthworms.

Some species found in the southern USA emit neurotoxins. They are invasive without natural predators, so think earthworm eating, potentially toxic, silver carp.

Ewwwww!

Anything that eats earthworms can't be good. Those worms are hard workers, thank you very much.

I knew Rad would chime in... I'm just too lazy to research and count on Rad to jump on those... he's really good at it.
Thanks baby!

If I catch one in the open again, it'll most likely not survive the encounter.

Shots from the morning garden. A good bit of head damage all around and some side effects from all the spraying (light burn.... dammit). Still... going ok. Not bad fro the depth of the summer. Some of the PVC pots are working their way into the bloom room this morning. Veg is crazy full.

Off to the races... got some tour guide action this morning and indoor painting for the afternoon.

Mmmmm worms....mmmmmmm trout!!!!!
Trout eat worms Lady A, you aren't prejudice to them are ya

I am curious, I see Sue in the 2l jugs and you all using the gallon jugs, do u transplant out of those? If not how big will they grow in those jugs

Ya know... container size is, of course, directly related to plant size... which in turn relates to veg time.
The 5gal range is gonna support a 6' plant. The 10gal range will grow a tree. I grew some 4' plants in 3gal mop buckets. The 2Ls will get as tall as 2'.
One of the reasons I'm making the move from 2Ls to the 6" wide 1' tall PVC pots is to create taller and wider roots to support larger plants that I can now fit in to a significantly upgraded bloom room. I added a lot of headroom and sq footage, so I'm looking for bigger plants. The other angle on the PVC is that it's a thinner taller format than the standard pot. I feel like longer roots give me better support while maintaining the same general amount of root mass as my 3gal mop bucket grows. I hope to see some 3 or 4 foot tall sativas.

.

I remembered this post and found it, good info here

I may look into the PVC or ADS pipe myself. A 8" pipe would be perfect for me....
Thinking a trip to home Depot is in order today, see what ideas I can get

I have some male clones to plant soon

Guess I'll need to practice planting seeds into the root riot pods. Is that what ya do? Germ em in wet towel till they pop then into the pods in say a solo cup of hempy???

Lots more to learn....fun fun fun

Hahaha! I was at Lowes picking up the connectors I used to stabilize the 2ltr bottles and stopped in front of the 6" pipes and allowed myself to dream. I may have to call on Hash Hound and his cutting tools. :battingeyelashes:

I use Rapid Rooters because I'm intimidated by the idea of starting in perlite. I'm considering starting my next hempie seed in a solo cup hempie with a humidity dome.

Hempy offers so much flexibility. I grow in 2 ltr bottles, cut down one-gallon vinegar bottles, and now the 3-gallon pots, which I may begin to use more often. I find I like growing hempy trees. :cheesygrinsmiley:
