Sounds like a great idea. Here's a newbie grow I found that caught my hempy interest:

DocBud's Hempy Grow

Tead's always been a fan of re-reading threads long gone.
Thanks for the link... it's been a long time since I poked that thread.

The start of Tead's personal hempy path....

I've totally been thinking about a hempy bucket grow. I had major problems with my last hydro attempts. The hempy buckets seem to be an easy way for me to dip my toes in the hydro arena again.
As for sending them into flower, those decisions should be driven by the size of your area and other grow environment issues. The longer you veg them, the bigger the end product will be, but you don't want such a huge plant that it outgrows your grow area.

Cheers!

I strongly suggest you do the Hempy! These plants are now so dang healthy, and have grown so fast i can't believe it. The method is easy and inexpensive. I'm so happy I'm using it.

As for my area, I've got a 1000watt light above those plants, and my total floor space is 4x4 right now, but it could be larger if I wanted.

I think the rule of thumb is that the plants will double in size during flower. I think that's a bit low and find that it's a bit more, but I veg inside and flower outside, so the change of light is probably causing the increases I'm experiencing.
I grow my plants in veg as long as I can and they turn into thick monsters when I drag them outside.

Cheers!

Well, I made the decision today, and went to 12/12.

I'm going to flower for the first 2 weeks under MH, then switch to HPS. (Hortilux on both)

I made this decision, even though I only vegged for 2 weeks, because:

1.)the plants are growing like crazy.
2.)Being a practice grow, i'd like to get them done before Christmas so I can get going on my "real" grow, now that I have a concept of what I'm doing.

I'm running the lights from 9 at night till 9 AM, which means that I'll not need the AC as much during the hottest part of the day.

My nutes will be:

FF trio+Cal/mag w/open sesame for 1 week.

Upon seeing pre-flowers, I'll continue with the FF trio/Calmag and add Canna boost.

I know I'm going to be cutting my overall yield by flowering when the plants are only 10-18 inches tall, but again, this grow was for education. The next one is going to be for production.

Sweet!
We'll all be looking forward to seeing your end product.

Cheers!

Jim, if you were standing beside me I'd have turned and wrapped myself around you.:hug::hug: Your link and some of what Tead just posted will find their way into the thread for sure.

That thoughtfulness deserves an extended squeeze. :battingeyelashes:

Playing with the microscope this morning.

Cloudy with a chance of amber. So close.
It sure is fun to see the structure of a hair up close and personal.

Felt it. or maybe it was a Blue Dream quake roaming my body

Tead, do you have a post where you documented with pictures how to start a hempy pot? I'm thinking things like placement of the drilled hole and other basic information? If not I'm sure I have some in my own gallery, but man, get up around 30,000 posts and things start to get lost in the stack. Lol!

Page 218 has my most recent bucket creation and Osmo placement. It's light on the hole placement, but it's a very variable thing anyway.

I find old posts by browsing the gallery till I find what I'm looking, for, then find that date in the journal. This narrows down the search very quickly.

The issue can be a touch more difficult than you might imagine....

Let me eat those words. I just tried it, and it's way easier than I thought.

Shots from the morning watering and bug spraying.

Very clever way to utilize space. My mind immediately went to wondering if i could attach PVC planters on the wall of my grow room and buckets on the floor. Hmmm

Pssst....Tead. I waved last week as I sped past on 12, avoiding all the mess that surrounds you on 10. I might have used all my fingers too.

Dunno which way you're going or how fast, but stop around Lafayette for food... you can find some serious down home Cajun out that way.

I felt the disturbance in the force... it made me go get a Rum and Coke this afternoon with a buddy.

It's all about right sizing for one's world. The 2Ls were a perfect size for my garden before I expanded and increased head room. Of course, one can do creative plant shaping to take advantage of a low garden, but I just went with a bunch of small plants.
It will take a while for me to get a handle on the perfect size, but the hunt continues. This round is 6L 12" buckets.

What happens when you push your power system too hard for way too long....

Replaced with 12 gauge extension cord and GFI'd power drop. Been checking... no hot spots.
Holly crap

That can be bad news

All I use is 12g or better....all the years in construction related business I've learned...over compensation is better than under every day
