Tead's Indoor-ish, Winter, Hempy, OGK, SOG

BOG and his wife Pat the flying nun

I'm trackin. It's gettin downright historic in here.

Tead hey man how ya doin. I have a solution for you too. I will be posting some new stuff next week as I diy a light or two. For a lot cheaper than most diy.

I'll stop by and check it out. It's been too long.... story of all our lives.

Tead did you make it to Local's day?

No tickets fell Tead's way this year... but the wind was cooperating REALLY well... almost too well. A few things got rattled around his shelves a touch.

I did a ton of work on the shed. Installed venting and outer skin. Here's a pretty picture...

Jazzfest rolls to an end today. I welcome the calm... it's all a bit much in such a quiet little corner. Plus, for some reason, the last Sunday tends to be drunken douche-bag day. I caught some traveling Oregonians yesterday and tempted them into my lair. I got stoned with 3 generations of Oregonians tho the youngest, at 1.5yrs of age, chose not to partake. Pretty cool... they were traveling the country via 5th wheel. The dude had the coolest tattoo with a Native American design straight outta the NW coastal areas... you know... lots of whales, fish, and all black and red. It pulled him out of a very large crowd for me. I immediately pointed at it and asked his origins. Way fun.

Looking good nice and frosty day in the breeze for the girlz too

Monday morning feeding and photos. Not a complete lineup, just what caught my attention.

Betty first... it's been a while. She does H/L, but not on one screen and only between manual resets.

Generally good. I bumped down the AC by 2 degrees.

Love the 2Ls. So easy to move and inspect.

A little look into my morning on the back stoop....
2 grinders, 2 plants, bong, pipe, lighter, drill (for makin hempy holes!), spray paint, some random bud in a qt jar, some water for cloning work, random bits of perlite everywhere... even some random tools and parts.

Welcome to my morning... It's nice, but busy.

Damn!!!
Forgot the DDA photos...

Now that's a pretty sight! :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

I like the way your space is turning out. I'm thinking of running a couple DDAs in hempy pots off to the side of the soil ones. :laughtwo: It'd be smarter of me to try a couple smaller pots of other strains with soil and run them 12/12 in the bloom tents to get them through faster. A good way to increase supply of alternate strains I might not get a chance to grow otherwise.

Somehow I need to grow a couple more plants without taking up too much space. Sound familiar? Lol! Thank you for tempting me so with hempy. Look how happy my UD looks today. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I also appreciate the ease with which one can inspect the hempy pots. With Osmo Plus this is almost too easy. Lol!

Your journal seems to have sped up... Blinked and I was six pages back -again. I'll have to speed up as well then, no problem. :thumb: Sorry to have been doing the dine and dash visits so much lately, it doesn't seem possible to keep all the 420 juggling balls in the air at the same time very evenly. Oh well. Everything is looking great- love the new space. :high-five:

Sooooo.... I fished this out of the swamp waters today. SS sent it on it's path... but she might tell you that other hands were busy on the trigger of the Karma gun.

The pup approves.

Tead notes some facts. The light consumes about 330w. The veg tent is about 7sqft. That math comes out to 47w/sqft. That seems huge for LED light..... yes?
I'm thinking that may be a pretty natural fit in my world. This might boost up my veg game some and the increased area in the bloom room could benefit.

That's flowering level of juice for your veg tent. Your girls might veg a bit faster :)

I'm so pleased to see it there. I'm really excited to see what it does for your grow. :slide:

And yes, that cosmic karma follows me around pretty closely these days. It's satisfying to be able to spread the wealth offered me by the community to benefit so many other grows.

Completely wasted overkill?

I don't see how it can be wasted, but you should anticipate more vigorous growth.

diminishing returns... heat vs usable lumens. Always the damn heat to consider.

Ok... a little impromptu unscientific measurements with a cheesy light meter that I hope will give me a relative sort of idea today.
I took the light meter and measured where it maxed out in relation to the light. The 1000w HPS and the 330w LED showed the meter maxing out at very similar distances. I wouldn't expect that. The summation I take from this is that the 330w LED is delivering a similar amount of energy to the plant as my 1000w HPS. I realize that I'm in apples and oranges territory some. I know there can be nuanced differences. Still tho... I didn't really expect these results and the logical part of Tead's brain is kicking in here and having a problem with the math. Is it possible that a device consuming 330w can perform similarly to a device consuming 1000w?

It is the light spectrum differences that correlate the similar readings. It is PAR and light spectrum not watts that creates energy plants can use

The lights I passed on were replaced with lights with less wattage but a friendlier spectrum, so the plants perform better.

Hmmmmm.... I'm kind of knee deep in an attempt at a technical evaluation of things. Can you elaborate? I wouldn't normally pry, but I'm dealing with numbers at an individual LED level and it sounds like it might make a significant difference.

..... and the whole damn attempt at wrapping one's head around everything is just frustrating.
I mean, it's difficult to even start an evaluation between lighting types. The manufacturers tend to be light on actual technical data. For example, I see that the folks that make the XML350 claim it has a coverage of 4'x4'.... but with no supporting data, a scientific mind sees the whole situation as the vendor telling me the sky is purple while my sharp eyes gazing skyward tells me something a touch different.
Frustrating doesn't seem a proper term. I tried mixing it with obscenities, but it didn't help so I left 'fucking frustrating' out.

To be honest, I don't understand the technology behind the COBs. All I know is my plants almost dance with joy under these lights and the kits are only 200 watts per grow space. In our world, this is unthinkable, and it surprised the hell out of me. I know I may not get the volume the other panels might give, but the quality of the plants is startling.

I moved one of my clones back to the closet last night because I determined she was crying to get back there. She's been under the T5s for about a week now and I'm noticing a distinct change in her leaf tone that disturbed me, so I put her back under the Timbers. I'll see if my theory that she prefers that light holds true.
