Tangwena's Malawi-Style Cob Cure: Fermented Cannabis

Here is my follow up attempt. Again, 24 hours at 98ºF but this time only 5 days in the food dehydrator at 86º. We've only had to dry them once. Not at all the powerful odor but a lighter less "rotten" texture. What are your thoughts guys?

Kim chi (sp?) is also fermented in the ground in the tropics. Sauerkraut is generally done much cooler but for longer. You must let the proper bacteria grow which can be temperature dependent.

Oh, I'll adjust temps down. My notes said 80-86. What is the preferred temp? sorry, it's probably in here somewhere, and I could look for it.
Hi MissyE were the buds re hydrated?
You need to dry them more I think, its hard to tell without knowing what the buds were like that you used ie fresh, slightly dried or rehydrated dry buds.
You dont usually get that dark green color from fresh buds unless they were very wet as in straight from the plant.
I usually dry / hang my buds for a couple of days before I sweat them.
They will still be ok so dont worry. You may have lost a few terps thats all.
When you get your next lot of buds hang them for a couple of days to dry them slightly. Then sweat them for 24 hours at 36 to 40c.
I dont know what that is in fahrenheit but its easy to find out.
Once 24hrs are done remove the cobs and dry all the access sweat until the surface is dry to the touch. Then re seal them and leave them for a week at around 30c and they should be done. Dry again and re seal for another week and repeat drying until 4 weeks have passed then vacuum seal them to age until you need them.

Got it! :adore: @tangwena Thank you. The buds for these cobs were hung to dry for two days but it's been quite cool yet humid here. When I first rolled them to sweat, my gut said to wait, that they weren't dry enough. I also did rehydrate some dried bud. Those have been in the ferment for 7 days? I think? I took a bit off tonight and smoked it. OMG it's really smooth (compared to my normal smoke) and the taste was yummy! Physically, I am sitting on the sofa, but spiritually I'm moving into a nice elevator and can feel myself slowly rising with the corners of my lips rising faster than the rest of my body. :slide: Thanks Tangwena.

Just started the sweat on two 2.2oz Panama cobs!! Very excited this time around, last cob I had to keep the buds in the fridge for a few days until my supplies arrived... needless to say the fridge ruined the cannabis for this use and discussed here previously.
Had my supplies at has this time, chopped Sunday and washed, out in a plastic bag today with a meter and they were right at 80%! Perfect! Set the Con-A-Tron to 38c for the next 24hrs. Can hardly wait to see them tomorrow!

Thought I’d throw this pic in for fun... hope no one minds!

Edit to add, the weight in the scale is after tear. They are a true 2.2oz @80% humidity.

Please excuse my ignorance but what do you do with the residue. Smoke.dab, eat?

Is iso isopropyl alcohol?
Never say that my friend any question is welcome. Its for a friend who loves to smoke the oil. I used to smoke the oil mixed with the cob it was made from back in Africa but now my lungs are to rooted.
Its very hard to get the dose right but if you dip a pin head in the oil and put it on your tongue your salivas enzymes will dissolve the oil very fast.
The high comes on equally fast but the difference between just right and wayyyy to much is microscopic so I prefer the chew cobs its easier to get the dosage right.
But if your young and dont mind crawling across your floor tripping out its a blast on the tongue.

Hey, thanks so much Tangwena! I really appreciate the kind words... only my second try at this. Now you have me all psyched to try it when done properly. The last cob I made was also with Panama but didn’t come out well.
I will definitely post some pics after sweat, so tomorrow afternoon I’ll check on it.
Oh man that cob is pretty, I bet it smells so good! Awesome... I need to try with the corn husks some time as well.

Alright everyone, here is the Panam cob after a 24hr sweat @ 34c.
A bit of moisture inside, and the bags had loosened up. I cut them open and dried the inside of the bags, then laid out the cobs to dry a bit.
Only my second try at this so of course I need to ask...
Do I need another 24hr sweat? I don’t want it too narcotic, but do want to do it right. Does it look like it had a good sweat from an experienced eye?
Thanks for looking !
Edit: well I guess I could upload the pics!
