Tales From The Krip!

Yikes you'll burn that in one bowl. That's what I hate about autos,,, they are all over the place in size.. But that is a small one.............

Yeah, well, that one is my fault! :ciao:

I started her in that 4" pot thinking it would only be a week or two before I could up-pot her and put her in the flower tent. But, since the house construction wasn't completed, I got delayed setting up the tent and her roots must have found the edge of the container and went into flower when she was only about 6-8" tall.

I was going to toss her, but I decided to just let her finish since she was taking up so "little" space, plus, I was really hoping she'd pack on some good weight and it might be a cool POTM pic since I'm willing to bet there aren't too many 10" plants in the POTM contest!

She smells like she'll provide some great smoke - I just hope it's enough to catch a buzz from!

FEEDING MY SEED ADDICTION - I NEED HELP! :ganjamon:

As suspected, the Vanilla Kush never made it so I started gently scraping back small layers of soil to see what was going on and, as near as I can tell, the seed is just gone!

Not sure what happened, but have heard some stories about seeds getting eaten in very active soil. My soil has been cooking for a few months now, but it is still first run and the White Widow didn't seem to have an issue. :hmmmm:

So, I broke open the one Lucy photo seed I had left and, when I saw it, I couldn't even believe they put it in the package. It was not a healthy-looking seed at all, but I threw it in a glass of water anyway just to see if it would crack. It's been over 12 hours, now, and it hasn't even sunk!

So, next thing I knew I found myself at a seed bank placing another order! I've got plenty of seeds and haven't even started anything from the last order, but really was just checking out some strains, then I found myself checking out the promo's.

Maybe the only thing I'm more of a "sucker" for than seeds, is promo's, so I started to see what kind of deal I could put together, and, I have to admit, it was pretty good, so I placed another order.

These are the seeds I paid for (all Feminized):

(5) Sweet Seeds AUTO Dark Devil (yeah, I got some in the last order, but hey, they're auto's & more freebies!)
(5) Barneys Farm Seeds Blue Gelato 41
(6) Cali Connection Seeds Blackwater
(5) Emerald Triangle Seeds Cotton Candy Cane

Total on the order was $236.29 (USD)

Here are the Freebies - also all feminized except the two Trainwreck:

(1) Delicious Seeds Sugar Candy
(1) G13 Labs Seeds Mozzarella
(1) Dinafem Seeds Critical + 2.0
(1) T H Seeds AUTO Northern HOG
(1) G13 Labs Seeds Sweet Amnesia
(1) DNA Genetics Seeds Holy Grail Kush
(1) T H Seeds UnderDawg OG
(1) BlimBurn Seeds Girl Scout Cookies
(1) G13 Labs Seeds White Strawberries
(1) Barneys Farm Seeds Red Dragon
(1) Delicious Seeds Cotton Candy
(1) G13 Labs Seeds OG13
(1) Dinafem Seeds White Widow (yeah, I have plenty of WW, too, but it was a freebie!)
(2) Humboldt Seed Organization Trainwreck REGULAR
(2) Sweet Seeds AUTO Dark Devil
(1) Barneys Farm Seeds Peyote Critical
(2) Emerald Triangle Seeds Blueberry Headband
(3) Cali Connection 818 Headband
(3) Cali Connection Girl Scout Cookies
(3) Cali Connection Green Crack

That's 21 seeds paid-for and 29 free seeds for a total of 50 seeds at an average price of $4.73 USD! :yahoo:

I have no clue how I'll ever get through all these but find some solace in knowing there are many others like me here on :420:.

Now, if I can figure out how to block the seed bank sites so I don't keep doing this!

Happy Harvests!

K

That Holy Grail is the shit on that freebie list...... Was some killer herbs last I grew of it..

Guess it's time for the 'Old Lady' to take your credit cards? Or maybe they have a program that will block all seed vendors. Like a net nanny for seed heads.............

You need to call your sponsor, ha! that's a pretty great order especially considering, I've paid $250 for a pack of 12 Seeds, ugh! Sugar Cane from in house.

Are you sure the Emerald Triangle one is a fem? I thought they only did regs but maybe I am thinking of a different breeder. It's the CSI partner but "pirates" is in the name too. @TheGreenYeti what is the breeder in thinking of?

Yeah, there are several things on that freebies list I'm looking forward to, but TBH, when I put those deals together, I try to make sure the seeds I'm paying for are what I really want and am not just buying the seeds for the promo.

So, if you haven't checked it out yet, take a look at that Blue Gelato 41 from Barney's Farm. It sounds pretty nice and the breeder's pic looks incredible! :yummy::

Here's the info on the BlackWater:

Cali Connection Blackwater Seeds are a first generation Mendo Purps x SFV OG Kush F3 [m]. These cannabis seeds are named after one of Swerve's favourite songs. His aim was to achieve one of the darkest Purple OG Kush ever. Flowering time for this variety is 8-9 weeks.

And, here's the breeder's pic of that one:

Blackwater-Cali-Connection-Seeds-attitude.jpg

And, the Cotton Candy Cane is another new strain that's a cross between Blueberry Headband and Sweettooth.

Here's the breeder's pic on that one:

And, I know I don't have to tell or show the DDA's!

So, THOSE are the strains I'm REALLY looking forward to!

It's Pirates of the Emerald Triangle. Looked it up. Is it possibly a different breeder with a very similar name?

Yeah, this is "Cotton Candy Cane" from Emerald Triangle. It's available in both FEM & REG and I did order the FEM's.

Will you be my sponsor? I need a sponsor who doesn't mind paying $250 for a 12-pack!

Sure. Call me anytime you need someone to talk you down. Interesting that there are 2 Emerald Triangle seed breeders.

Sugar Cane!

Now that you've posted that picture, I really could use some talking down!

 You should see pics of the freebie I got in each in house order I made (2) Apricot Jelly is just as covered in resin. It's a reg though. Neiko has 2 running right now. I got 4 each order plus 3 Bubba 76's.

I hope my SC's come out awesome but if I can grow one like in the pic, I'll be besides myself!

Did I just get fired as your sponsor?

You can stay my sponsor but I just want to let you know, my mom thinks you're a bad influence on me!

Hey Ween, you would think that breeders would try to have vastly different names from one another but it happens. With Nspecta being from the Emerald Triangle and being part of a family that has grown fro generations from the sounds of it, I am not surprised he pays homage to his roots with the Pirates of the Emerald triangle brand. Also I am not too shocked there is another company doing the same. The emerald triangle is the heart of cali's grow scene since way back.

Seed addiction is a very real thing. i like how you ended up with more freebies than seeds paid for. That is how the oversea banks got me a lot of the time lol. I have made a few orders in the US for the same reason. I ordered a pack of In House's Grim Reaper OG and got 14 free Sour Johnson seeds and spent all of $80 bucks (both strains are reg seeds). On top of those I also got a few seeds from Bred by 42. I then placed an order for Zurcules from In House and got 14 Apricot Jelly seeds along with more bred by 42 freebies and got that order for just over $100 with shipping.

I am not a fan of Barney's Farm, but that Blue Gelato 41 looks killer. The Gelato 41 is supposed to be the most potent pheno of Gelato that had been found and circulated I believe. (it was either 41 or 45, I cant recall right now). I have eyed the Blackwater a few times. There is a nice deep purple cut of it that has been around for a few years now. I had a buddy pull 26 zips off of one outside. Nice choices all around man.

I'm quickly losing my affection for Barney's Farm, too!

In the past, I've had some good luck with them, but the Vanilla Kush and the Lucy (which didn't even sink after 48+ hours soaking in H2O!) both came from promo packs. I took a look at some of the other BF promo packs I have and they all seem to have what I would consider "inferior" seeds. I have a hunch they've been putting "culls" in their promo packs.

I didn't even bother with another BF seed and just started soaking a Northern High Lights from Advanced Seeds. It's one of the strains I've been planning on using for breeding but no reason not to get a start on a mom now and see if I even have a breeding-worthy pheno.

Check these out! (The narrator's pretty funny, too! ;) )

A lot of breeders use their less desirable seeds as their promo ones. I got a 6 pack of Gorilla Dosha as an In House Freebie and I will be lucky if any of them pop. I have only grown Tangerine Dream from Barney's and it was a super weak pheno. It is right up there in the top 5 worst things I have run. A lot of their other gear seems very hit or miss. At this point in my genetics collecting I have started buying mostly american genetics. The breeders here are coming out with new stuff every day. Which is both good ad bad. There are some breeders that actually put in the work to stabilize their work but not everyone does.

QUICK UPDATE

It's my first time vegging under the Mars Reflector 144. I picked up the first one during the middle of my last grow and it went right into the old flower tent for some supplemental light. It seems I had the light a little too close to the rooting clones, and I'm sure it didn't help that it was in Flower Mode for the Lucy-24 which is under the same light, and the seedlings got a little burned. Nothing they won't recover from, but it's making an already slow process even slower.

(NOTE: I didn't even think about it until I wrote this, but I'm gonna' go spray with some De-Stress right now! :) )

I noticed this a few days ago so the lights were raised before I put the new White Widow seedling in there and she seems to be doing great and loving the LED.

I flushed the Lucy-25 today. She's likely going to be harvested this week, but she's now starting to foxtail and the trichs are only about 10% amber, so I figure I'll wait and see what happens. When I first saw the foxtailing, I was concerned it was (again) due to lights being too close, but she's foxtailing on all nodes and not just the top, so it doesn't appear to be stress related.

Finally, the Northern Highlights seed sunk after only a few hours of soaking, so I put it in the same soil that "ate" the Vanilla Kush and we'll see what happens.

Happy Harvests!

MAJOR CHANGE-UP!

I was trimming the mom's last night and made a decision to change things up.

I put those four new clones in the flower tent last week because I really wanted to give the kit a true test by starting the clones in the high brix soil. But, it will be at least 6-8 weeks of vegging those new clones before we're ready to flip and, in the mean time, I'm sitting on those four nice moms with great roots sitting rootbound in those 4" containers that I'm having to trim every couple of weeks and toss all the cuttings (I hate tossing cuttings! :ganjamon: ).

So, instead of waiting, today I transplanted all four of the original Bonsai Mom's into the 10 gallon pots. They were all quite rootbound and would have outgrown the 1 gallons too quickly. I scored the rootball, gave it a good dusting of ROOTS, and a good watering of a light dose of transplant and tea. Tomorrow, I'll start with the foliars.

In a few weeks, before I switch to 12/12, I'll take some more clones to replace the moms that just went in.

That should cut at least a month off the time to a harvest even though I can't consider it a "full" test of Doc's Kit. However, I'm already "sold" on the kit and will continue to use it. I'm just getting tired of waiting and it didn't make sense when I had those four mature moms just sitting!

I'll update with some pics in next couple of days.

Happy Harvests!

Heya Krip... finally found you... .LOL... Hey as I was kinda catching up I saw that you were considering Black Water perhaps.?? We are just now picking up that Barneys strain at the grow job, but a community girl friend is growing one right now... Kinda lagged behind, and isn't really all that resistant to mildew... Then again we are really really moist up here so even my outdoor ladies are showing mildew... I am also seeing a few other strains that you have that I am currently either growing or helping others grow so come October I will have a shit load of pics for all to see if you dont mind me posting a few here... Either way they will be posted on BIL's thread which you know, but I will also be starting a new thread for harvest at all community grows as well as my own... There will be a strong finish with Smoke reports on all 50 plus strains we are growing between us... Green day bro.. and to all

Thanks, Brother! That's great info and feel free to post any time - pics included and appreciated! :thanks:

I did pick up the Blackwater seeds on the last order and, while I've never had any problems with mold here (despite being in the tropics!), I'll certainly keep an eye out and make sure the environmentals in the tent are up to "par" (no pun intended! :ganjamon:).

Please post a link when you have your new thread up!

:Namaste:
