Tales From The Krip!

if you only have a single tent or space and you want to run perpetual
BTW, in order to run the perpetual, you'd have to have photos in the mix since you can't effectively clone & maintain the autos! But, it does let you flower an auto in the veg tent/area.

Good morning gang! Well, this is just my opinion OK. I feel they came up with 'Autos' for new growers ..or growers with NO skill or knowledge with growing 'photos. They were just trying to make growing easier for those who didn't/don't want to fuss with things and they try to make it as easy and less time consuming than photos require. I feel no need to try one...have no desire to grow Ruderallis crap in my grow room. I grow from seed , every time and in my opinion is the best way to achieve maximum satisfaction in my growing. If i had lottsa space i would grow regs and sex them , but that's not gonna happen either.
As far as seeds being expensive , yes, some are but for wat you pay for a few seeds and the return on that investment...it's very worth it ! Cheers gang...just a few thoughts , is all. Enjoy the day ...friends a mine....:circle-of-love:

WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THE AUTOS???

I'm seeing a lot of indoor growers growing autos and I'm wondering what the real attraction is? :hmmmm:

I understand autos if you're growing outdoors and battling seasons, and I understand the indoor grower that has some extra space in the veg tent and decides to throw in an auto to flower in the veg area.

Other than that, why would you grow the auto version instead of the photo?

It seems to me it would have lower THC (mixed with Ruderalis), can't clone it, genetics have been diluted, I can always flip a photo early if I want to finish quick and train if I want to keep it short, etc.

I just don't see any advantage of an auto other than some auto-only strains.

So for my first grow I tried 4x autos and they worked out ok except for my 2 “non” auto Early Miss which turned out to be photoperiods and one ended up being a complete mutant. After that grown I tried a few clones from a friend of the critical+2.0 which I got to try my hand at the quadline. I decided to try autos again this round as well to see how I could improve. Quality wise they turned out much better than my first grow (obviously) lol but the size was a problem. Only getting around an OZ of flower after each plant was dried it was not a great yield but was some good smoke! This round I’m doing all photoperiods and I have chosen to add 2x autos in the mix just as a filler for my Veg area while I’m training.

All in all I personally won’t ever run a full “Autoflower” round again but I will be adding 1-3 in each Veg round to run through my seeds and strains!

Photos are the way to go either in clone or from seed but that’s what the future holds for the Dutchman!

Good question Krip!

Nevil first played with "autos" back in the day looking for plants that would do well in Northern Europe. But we notice that he dropped ruderalis from his breeding stock fairly early. That tells us a lot about ruderalis.

I've only run a few autos, and there was something about the high that bothered me. :hmmmm:

They seemed dullish. Hard to describe.

:bongrip:

Have you done this and how were results. A while back I read from one grower that it's the best way to grow but was not convinced.

:passitleft:
I have not done this...yet. Dr. Ziggy used to do it all the time, it was the only way he grew. It's a technique that's great for long flowering sativas. The breeders usually tell you when it's preferred to flower straight from seed. I plan to try it with the new version of Golden Tiger. I had one I vegged until ready to flip and it turned out to be male when I flowered it but it did try to grow out of the tent and he wasn't done stretching when I caught him. I've always wanted to try it and I will soon.

QUICK BREEDING UPDATE - TRAINWRECK #2 IS FEMALE

Not sure if I had mentioned it, but I ended up culling Trainwreck #1 a week, or so, ago since it just wasn't very healthy and wanted something more sturdy for breeding. At that time, I also took a couple of clones from Trainwreck #2 and put the mom in the breeding cab to sex.

Turns out, TW #2 is a female, so I have another strain to pollenate with the PTK on this first round. :yahoo:

Happy Harvests!

DAY #45 OF 12/12 - FAT & FROSTY BUDS!

It's been 45 days of 12/12 and the Platinum Kush Breaths are getting fat & frosty and are just dripping with resin!

Here are a few pics from today:

Since I did the CAT drenches early on these girls, I'm really considering doing another CAT (probably tomorrow, if I do it!) just to see what happens. I can't imagine they're gonna start losing all those trichomes!

Happy Harvests!
