Taking My Chances With The Devil: Dark Devil Auto & Devil's Crack Auto

It's going to interesting to see see the lava rock hempys. I'd be worried about them drying out here. It's so dry Rh has to be low AF in my house
RH in my place is like 19% average. I already feed 1 or 2 times daily depending on pot size, so it shouldn't upset the balance of things too awful much. One thing I do worry about is the extra iron, but after perusing the interwebz I see many folks growing many things with this stuff.

This journal is really starting to wind down. The original focuses are long gone. Looking forward to a wonderful influx of of more fresh genetics, including my first CBD rich chemovar. Everything else is a surprise, I like that.

I've been having a hell of a time getting my seeds to germinate properly. Combination of lower evening temps, bulletproof seed shells, and possibly a layer of trichome residue have been trying my patience with a couple of my crosses.

Today I scarred the seeds before they went in for a soak. Plan to soak for around 36hrs, so tomorrow evening everybody goes into rockwool cubes. The seeds I dropped in water earlier today have all sunk to the bottom and I anticipate a couple tap roots by the time they are planted.

Currently drawing up plans for a fresh journal. I wanted to keep things simple but I feel like I have to do my best to keep moving forward. Might start messing with my Devil's Pitchfork F2s, see if I can find any magic in those beans. Just bought a small shop-vac and I am betting I could use the box for pheno-picking. Line with mylar, use Just 4 23w cfls, hook it to my tents passive intake, run the light 24/0, leave Male and female autos in the box, photoperiod gals go to the tent, photoperiod males would be culled.

I can't believe how difficult it is to finish any of my planned projects. I have a light, an autoflower pheno picking box, and a self contained stealth grow cabinet that were all supposed to be built before last December. I get 90 minutes per day of peace. I find it hard to motivate during that time because I spend my days and nights running in circles after my autistic kids.

Ramble-typing complete.....

PEACE

Time is something that there's never enough of. I'm still struggling with germination issues too. My house never feels warm enough and my beans ( most of them ) are older. I have some new lights coming which I'm excited about. My old hps hood is way too big for my small tent. So soon I'll find out what the hoopla is about with qb boards. I'll have 3 in a 2-1/2x4x60" tent. Got spoiled at my old place having a spare room to grow in. Hopefully I can get something going in this small tent. Lol

My tent is 32x48x60. Three would be the perfect number of panels to have. 2 boards work for me but I have that old mars in there to help out with extra light and warm things up a bit, tent is against an exterior wall.

3 out of the 6 seeds from yesterday that I scuffed up and soaked are cracked and placed in rockwool. Already a better germ rate than the last two tries which ended in frustration. Now I have a chance to see how the rockwool treats me and then on to the lava rock hempys.

6/6 seeds successfully cracked open and all are in their rockwool cubes. These are Devil's Pitchfork x Trailer Trash Betty from the early short pheno. I only got about 12 from the taller more delicious pheno so I used these, of which I had about 30. Very very excited now.

Started flush of the Purple Afghani x BCBD Purps. Almost at 8 weeks of flowering. No pistils are sticking out anymore, about 75% are withered, leaves are fading on their own, smells like grape soda.

Considering starting to flush the last (Punto Rojo x Unknown) x SSDC. Starting to foxtail like a beech. Just shy of 9 weeks into flower. Smell is sweet and floral, more pungent than 2 weeks ago but still on the mild side.

Further from harvest, but chugging right along is White Widow x Wonder Woman. Just short of 8 weeks into flower. Didnt have much odor for a long time, but in the last week that terpene profile has become a showstopper. Extremely pungent floral scent mixed with ???juniper??? and a hint of skunk that is almost sickening. Also sticky AF. Wont yield bunches but I bet it is powerful. These will be played with later as my supply is limited.

I will post pics tomorrow, the Punto Rojo x (Mazar x Guerrero)s deserve a few good pics. They are just beautiful plants.

I also have the Sensi NL fem and the NL x DDA fem. They are nice looking plants as well. Definitely photo update time in the morning.

My seedlings in the tent are 1x Devil's Pitchfork x NL and 1x Unknown because I thought that I lost a seed and planted something different in there and then there was one ungermed seed and one with a tail laying right on top of the pot. But, no big deal since I am not currently doing any pollen chucking.

Considering soaking more seeds tomorrow. Filling the tent is the name of the game. Either a handful of Devil's Pitchfork F1s or maybe some NL x Hawaiian Kailua Pua, also I have all of those Purps hybrids.

Just photos

Thank you, growing bigger plants would look better. Lol

That damn Sensi NL hasn't been right since I hurriedly topped her awhile back.

The Punto Rojo cross in the small hempy is starting her signature droop. They like to resist growing indoors in small pots, but persistence and patience pay off with quality.

Been a busy bee this evening. Busted out a couple DIY's. One was so easy it shouldn't even be considered doing anything..

My 1sq/ft pheno-hunting box, made specifically to test my Devil's Pitchfork F2s for the autoflowering trait... just bought a shop vac 2 weeks back, had this mylar bubble stuff laying around, and I always have a few cfls floating about. I have to make 4 tiny cuts on the lid yet and poke a couple intake holes, but I had exactly enough mylar to line this box without taping or cutting, like it was meant to be.

Going to try and squeeze at least 5 little plants in there under 24/0 lights and see if any start to flower. One auto Male and an auto Female is all I need to make Devil's Pitchfork F3 100% regular autoflower seeds.

The second project was putting together my 1100k cob fixture. I simply don't document the processes due to time constraints. Plus this is my first full DIY (from spare Mars300 parts) LED, dont want to teach bad habits.

Tomorrow the thermal transfer adhesive should be cured and I can fire her up for a few minutes at a time. I did plug her in twice for less than 3 seconds each time to check it all out. Fan kicked on and the kitchen went full Red, should be the last light I need to buy for the tent until my other mars300 fails. Not sure if this spectrum will be very useful in my world, but I know my tent lacks reds and if there was ever a red light this one is it.

Double Harvest Day!!!!

(Punto Rojo x Unknown) x SSDC @ 12 weeks from seed

Purple Afghani x BCBD Purps @ 11 weeks from seed

Man your little project turned into some beautiful little plants bro. Those are some super sticky looking nugs, the Purple Afghani x BCBD Purps is tugging at my heart strings lol!! Can't wait to hear how she smokes brother, Congrats on the harvest!!!! Smoking on my 1st purp as I type DDA and boy does she mess my eyes up. I had to have the wife type this out for me lmfao!!!
:passitleft:

There is a guy I know not far from me that is growing some DDA right now. After seeing his pictures a few weeks back, I was sold on the strain. First order from Seedsman will definitely be carrying 5 of those beauts, plus a whole mash of purple varieties. Way cheaper than my current seed supplier, and I already have more faith in their genetics from reading several dozen raving reviews. Cant wait for tax season to begin, I know where that's going!

The Purple Afghani x BCBD Purps was a gift that the private breeder had never even tested. I can see myself growing a lot more of these. Smells like grape soda and dirt, like the humus under damp leaves during morel mushroom hunting season, if that makes sense..

I enjoy the DDA, and my wife loves it. It is also the first purple plant I had ever grown, so it holds a special place in my seed collection in it's original form and in the form of 5 hybrids I have now created. More coming up in about 12-13 weeks I suppose... I get a little wild with the pollen around here.

@SeedsMan is a great sponsor here. If I were to use seed banks, I imagine it would be them. I only have 4 left myself, one will be pollinated with an Incredible Bulk Auto if I manage to get her reversed.

Looks good. Looks nice and dense. I have couple black seeds soaking. Fingers crossed. Lol
They should be at the perfect age for great germination rates. I am having good luck scarring seeds before the soak. 9/12 so far this week, the last three haven't been in the water 24hrs yet.

Edit to add, I am going to try the scarring on some older beans next week to see how I fare against the odds.

Ugh....
First hermie out of a dozen Punto Rojo crosses. This one always looked kind of weird. Then, boom!!!! Nuts. Allegedly some equatorial sativas have this in their DNA. Surprised, yes. Disappointed, yes also. Heartbroken, not really. Good news is that the triploid is doing fantastic..
Relief :Namaste:
Gotta love fresh genetics in the collection, and abhor insomnia......

Tent is clearing itself out for the mess I am about to make in there. I have a total 12 seeds in rockwool starter cubes, some sprouted some not. All 12 are my creations.

Probably pop 6 Devil's Pitchfork F1s this week before I start up the autoflower reversal project.
