SweetSue's Perpetual 2.0 - The Transition To Doc Bud's HBB Kit

Hiya Sueeee! Happy wednesday! Those DDAs are beautiful. I like watchin how the purple just creeps into/onto the flowers. Ive always liked purple colored herb though. Its beautiful isnt it. You're pretty damn good at growin em too. Several on here as a matter of fact. :volcano-smiley:let the invasion begin....bwahahaha

I spent a good part of the day thinking about soil maintenance. Each pot of soil needs to be cooked before the next run with it, and this means I'll need a selection of totes. I also needed some sense of how the soil will be used and when I'll need to start the next batch.

This part of the grow often frustrates me. There's so much guesswork that you know will be tossed when life gets in the way, but it's still necessary for me to get at least a general sense of where I'm going. Best guess is I'll be planting the first pot of second-run soil around the beginning of June.

I've worked out a rough plan whereby I plant the next round of Dark Devil Autos, take clones of the vegging photos at day 26, transplant the rooted clones into one gallons around day 40, transplant them into 7 gallon pots when the DDAs get harvested, and then let the clones veg in the tiny closet for the month it'll take the soil from the harvest to cook for the next round. At the end of the month the photos get flipped and new DDAs get planted, starting the whole cycle over again.

This would be so much easier if I started everyone at once and grew only photos, but then I wouldn't be growing those racy, purple buds I love so much, would I? :cheesygrinsmiley:

Stooooooooop it. That's so much work and planning that you're making my head hurt. My entire Lazy Grower Aura is in pain.:rofl::rofl: I'm OCD enough that having to plan farther out than a week is an effort. If I could upgrade my RAM I would. ;)

Good morning everyone.

Spring is being finicky in The Burgh. Rain today, and rumblings of possible snow tomorrow. Makes me glad I got the walking in yesterday.

I forgot to ask a question about E the other day.... sorry to turn back the pages of time.
How did her roots look?
I've been discovering that roots can tell many tales. When I overfeed, they don't fill the pot and stay mostly in the top 2/3 of the 2Ls. I assume this is because the mix is too hot that far down in the mix but fades at higher levels.

I believe these photos are what you desired. I'm feeling pretty proud of this one. :blunt:

I had to wrestle it out of the pot.

You and me both Luke. It wears my brain down to do this type of planning. You and I both know it never works out the way you planned, but all that soil to manage......

I spent a good part of yesterday thinking about how easy the hempy is to run in comparison, and now Tead has me simplifying even more. Both runs have yielded comparable harvests with whatever they were growing beside. How much further ahead would I be if I learned to run hempies instead of these massive pots of soil?

I grow for oil. If I can get comparable oil yields using more hempies in the same footprint, why am I breaking my back with soil? Now see, I came into this hobby as an LOS grower, to be seduced by the superior product one gets from the kit. Plants like this one hold me to the kit for now, but every hempy run has me questioning my sanity.

Under the canopy she's an explosion of trichomes. :yahoo:

Yeah....... It's hard to stop growing plants like this one. I'll do another dance with the hempy pot and consider adding a second pot. I could fit one into each flowering tent, just like I did with Candy Cane and Emerald. The flower tents are underutilized with only one plant per, and the hempies slip into the corners so nicely. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I haven't tested Emerald as a smokable product yet. There's still another week or so to go on the low and slow dry and cure before it's ready to taste. I doubt she'll come up to the quality of the kit girls, but I'm holding no assumptions going in.

My breakfast brownie just kicked in. :slide: Time to roll out of this bed and get on with the joyful day. Have a wonderful one yourself. May the joyful moments that make your day sparkle bleed all over those around you. I've been cultivating an "atmosphere" of joy that I carry around with me. Try that one, see how it goes for you. Whatever you choose, have fun with it. Life is meant to be fun, and you get to control how much of it you experience today.

Go for it. Make me proud. :battingeyelashes:

Look at how Carnival turned around!

For comparison, here she is two days ago.

And today, after just two days under the Timber Grow Lights. I mean Damn!

IMG_544310.JPG

I decided to shift the seed plug under these lights too. Why not? You see how Dan spoiled me? :laughtwo: I don't know if I'll ever be happy with CFLs again.

IMG_54447.JPG

When the seed sprouts it goes into the hempy pot and I'll find a spot for her in there.

A little shifting around and she'll fit right in.

:woohoo: I scored a $130 Homedics humidifier at 75% off.

IMG_54466.JPG

That gives me one humidifier for each tent. Let's see if I can learn to keep the atmosphere in the flowering tents a bit more stable than they've been.

Good buy. Their products usually last a long time. I have had one Homedic chair back massage cushion for over 15 years and a foot and neck massaging pillow for about 10.

Hiya Sue!!!! I agree with the weather! Yesterday it was 70 degrees out and I was strolling along the muskingum river.....now today its really windy, chilly, and its gonna snow tonight. Hahahaha. Hope your thursday has been great! :volcano-smiley:

Why thank you hobo. I'm honored that you chose my journal to be your entry point into joining the fun. I didn't lurk here for long. I think I stayed silent for about 30 minutes. :laughtwo:

:welcome: to both of you. The joyful journal is always glad to make new friends. If you've been reading all along then you probably know most of the gang hobo. Pull up a floor cushion and grab yourself a brownie. Careful..... they're pretty potent.

Sue you really crack me up!
I just love the way you write, if I didnt know any better I'd throw all my gear out and switch to hempys, and then just like that you show this beautiful plant grown in doc's kit and I'm all confused again HAHA!
Your writing is like my everyday struggle, do I keep where I'm at or keep pushing for that next big "ah ha" moment. I'll keep pushing.
Crazy enough over the past 6 months or so I've switched everything over to LOS soil. With only growing 2 plants at a time I needed some more action in my grown tent. Isn't cooking soil fun :)
Maybe a Hempy or 2 would be fun this winter ;)
