Hash Hound did a great job on the lighting frame.
Tead did a quality brain dump on hempy growing.
And everyone else was sweet.
What a nice thread to follow
OK Sue they're all ready for delivery.
They were all made with two pieces of suspended ceiling L track. And I used Pop's old pop rivets.
If I was only making one I might have opted for the stock aluminum L.
They were made as one piece so there is only one seem. A lot of snipping, bending and drilling.
It's tough to get good corners bending that way, but less seams and sharp edges.
The real challenge was building them without one of the lights for testing fits and drilling holes for them.
the two smaller ones took an hour each and the larger ones took an hour and a half each.
The small ones are 18" and planned for lights to be 12" on center like the 2 light setup on Tinder.
The bigger ones are 20" and can accommodate the ballast, but the lights will be 13+ on center
I love doing this stuff.
Beautiful work!
At the risk of calling you a swine.... you seem like a hog in slop.

Sue & HashGirl
if using the Osmocote, remember to use the Osmocote Plus which contains micro nutrients the regular doesn't.
Sue I also sent you an email re the Timber light rack requesting a few more measurements.
here is the prototype made from ceiling tile L shaped wall bracket. Easy to work with and inexpensive.
this is one piece snipped and bent and pop riveted together including hangers.
I may add a cross brace, but it seems pretty sturdy as is.
I am sooooo freakin' excited. Dancing a dance of joy over here.
With him it's the thrill of improving the design.
Nice going, Hash Hound! I'll have to find a post from you and give you some reps for the nice job on the lights. I'm thinking if you ever want another career, you could maybe build them for profit.
I'm sittin here chillin with the brownie peaking and have to contain my self from hitting the work bench for redesigns.
single plant hangers can probably be made with only wire hangers or using a small base the same way I made the bigger ones.
the wiring is the issue
there would need to be a terminal block or some sort of connectors like the ones in the kit, near the ballast that a 6' single (2)wire can be run to each light. Not sure how expensive that would be, but if someone wants extreme versatility, it would be an option.
that's an issue Dan might want to consider if he ever wants to offer them as spots.
So when ever you wanna switch to a few spots Sue, I'd be willing to give it a try.
I have plenty of wire from when I used to get wired all the time.
They get really bright, too bright sometimes, like my small tent. I find the dimmer useful.
I did comparison pictures awhile back of my Cree cob.
Here it is at full Dim about 10% power
I did another at about 50-60% power which is where I run mine.
Fanleaf did similar pictures first, all credit to him. He may have done a 100% power one too. I do not know why I didn't
Don't look at these thing they are brighte bright.
Mine are cree so a slightly different shade of whites.
I think you will be V. Happy with them.
Hi I got a question.
I found a nice little wooden box today that I might wanna use to keep stash in. Problem is it was in the back of a dusty store and is a bit dusty and smells like eucalyptus. It is not dirty but I wanna clean it.
My first inclination it to use a lemon oil to wipe it out. I use lemon oil on my guitars fretboard.
Anyone have a quick home made wood cleaning recipe?
the eucalyptus smell is interesting but not sure it is good for my stash. I dunno I am willing to try something new.
I guess I could air it out and see who it goes.
Looks nice though.
You could also keep the stash in small air tight containers that sit in the box.
i didn't think of that. I have one of those already.
Great.
I have a travel day today I got my new box wrapped and packed. Right now it has 4 chamomile tea bags in it. I will air it out tonight at home.
Sue
how hot are those heat sinks to the touch?
are the bigger ones hotter than the smaller ones?
and are they hotter near the base or even temp all over?
my closet has gone up about 4 degrees with the addition of the Vero240.
no big issue though, still within reason.
And again I want to thank you for passing the Vero on to me,
and to Dan from Timber.
Sue! Hugs!
The bigger heat sinks are cool to the touch all over. The smaller ones run a little hotter, but still cool enough to be able to rest my hand on it without discomfort. I'll get a better feel of them tomorrow when lights are on. The temperature in that tent hasn't gone above 77 degrees since the lights were installed.
Thanks RedDragon.
Been busy today. In with everything else was time to start another Carnival seed for the hempy pot and cut a clone from the CBD Critical Cure 2.1 as she went into flowering.
I took a minute to get a shot at the lights
at full spectrum
and turned all the way down.
I had a conversation with Dan at Timber Grow Lights about the suggested light distance from the canopy with the kits he sent. I was much too far away from the more appropriate 12-18" from the canopy. I lowered the lights in the tiny closet tonight down to 18", and I'll do the same in the tent tomorrow. Then I'll lower them until I either get to 12" or the plants complain.
