SweetSue's Perpetual 2.0 - The Transition To Doc Bud's HBB Kit

Hey Sue, hope you had a great weekend. Quick question for you or anyone else that does the slow and low dry/cure. I have my harvest in jars with cheese cloth over the top and have them in the fridge. How long should I keep them like this? Should I take them out daily or just keep them as is? Any info is appreciated. I want to do this dry and cure for the best product.

Furcifer recommends gently rotating them every three days and checking them once a week, a process that includes letting them air dry for an hour, and then checking for humidity levels by jarring up for an hour with a hygrometer. He just covered that a couple pages back on the Low and Slo thread. :battingeyelashes:

You can expect it'll take at least two weeks, longer for more dense buds. You can speed the process by using paper bags instead of glass jars, and a couple members have stated a preference for the bag-dried. Worth considering. I'll be doing a comparison with my next harvest.

I'm going to be doing low and slow, and tradition to see the comparison with my harvest. I'll have to make a note to post over on the other thread in a couple months!

Ohhh good idea. I have some black felt type fabric too.

Right now they are just being supported by the tent's rails, which said they support up to 150 lbs (these LED lights, fan and filter are all less then 60lbs I reckon) I was thinking of adding some metal pipes to add support or maybe even a 2"x4" if it seems to need it. This is just for the veg tent so far, and as they grow I will be moving them down so that hopefully by the time they are ready for flowering and/or too heavy they will be down on the ground already. If it works out I guess I will probably do the same in the flowering tent, but I think I will have to add supports for sure.

Right now they are all in soil, but I have a few extra tubs and grow bags to try new things with. I also could put a couple smaller hempy pots in one of those tubs, they currently have 5 gal grow bags.

I also built a flood and drain set up out of some Rubbermade commercial tubs that I might use. I'm undecided. It seems like it would be easy to go from a hempy pot in veg to the flood and drain setup for flowering (a lot easier then from soil at least).

My clones I took the other day from the balcony seem to be doing well so far. I haven't really given them any light yet as I want them to have a few days of strong shade after growing in the sun for a couple months. They seem to be bug free so far but I won't be surprised if I have some kind of infestation soon, especially if I move all the plants from the balcony to flower inside.

BTW I don't think I complemented you on how nice your girls are looking. Very inspiring, makes me really want to try out a hempy pot or 10!

@rikvasen your thread looks very interesting too!

I added some pictures of my balcony garden if you want to see what I keep talking about.

Hahaha! I read that and my blonde brain went "Duh! They'll be on the floor by then!" Sometimes it really tickles me that I can miss something that obvious. :laughtwo:

I've never tried flood and drain, but it certainly looks interesting. If I were to attempt that method I think I'd want pots like the one Hash Hound gave me.

While I was over there I was noticing how happy everyone is looking. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:

Made me smile even bigger after reading your gracious compliment. I have to chalk the success of my current crop up to excellent lighting (thank you Dan :hugs: ) and the nutrient line I'm using. I've never grown plants this luscious, and every one I start in the RX Green Solutions looks better than the previous plants of the same strain I've grown. I think I'm hooked on hempy and this line of nutrients. I'll withhold judgement until I get a few stellar harvests behind me, but I'm getting used to seeing this kind of shine on the plants.

That was some mighty pretty leaf porn in your pictures. :battingeyelashes:

question Why is the perlite green-ish in color? Or have my peepers gone wonky again?

Cheers:cheertwo:

It's algae growth keltic. Harmless, and I don't find it unsightly, so no need to do anything with it. It's these bad-ass lights. Lol!

I've been toying with the idea of cloning a large amount of outdoor plants in my cannabis area. My thought was to take my cuttings or potted plants and dunk the who thing in 5 gallon buckets of Hydrogen Peroxide water for 5-10 minutes.

Anyone think this is a good or bad idea from bringing in plants from outside the grow areas?
I've ended up fighting the borg regularly for over a year, but I've been using leaf wash from doc once a week and haven't seen any issues since I got back from vacation in April. The neem was causing leaf burn and the spinosad, I wasn't certain how well it was working, so I picked up leaf wash and have used that exclusively since then without any issues. I have fresh cuttings outside now and I haven't seen any bugs on them. I don't go more than two weeks at most between treatments though. I've decided I'm just going to have to deal with pests and need to maintain a routine to keep them in check.

That's a great testimonial to the leaf wash. I've been thinking about picking some up, if only to wash them before flowering, but in the back of my head I keep coming back to the possibility I have yet to explore as to my being able to make my own leaf wash with Dr. Bronner's. I'll give Doc's leaf wash a closer look.

I'm not certain what it adds, but doc has mentioned that the leaf wash has some benefits for the plant beyond keeping the insects away.

I've been using it weekly on my outside girls in the ground as well. There is some leaf damage from insects eating them, but even that has been fairly minimal. I just wish I could mix it with brix so I only would have to check on those girls once a week. It would cut down on the poison oak/ivy, insect bites I have to deal with....

I may have said this before:

Impatiens capensis (Jewelweed, Touch-me-not) = great stuff for poison ivy

You have and I have some hopefully rooting in pots. I haven't had the poison since about a month ago. These bug bites though.... I don't know how much good it will do against this incessant insect bites. The itch is worse, plus they bite through jeans. I'll take them over the poison ivy that spreads when you scratch it though. I caught myself scratching after having it for a day when I realized it wasn't bites. That's what got it out of control.

My thread interesting? Well thank you! It's mainly to show you guys how insane I am and how crqzy things go between me and my little plants. They are almost lime puppies!
Hey Rik!
I LOVED your 1st journal. I recall you had a lot of doubters in regards to your lighting situation but surprised them by ending up with really nice buds! It was so sweet. I'm really happy you're back growing again and journaling. Respect.
Oh and SweetSue, those buds are gonna look a little ZZTop-ish if the white hairs keep growing. Awesome.

Well thanks Anna! And uh... Hold on to your seatbelt because my journal is going to get crazy!

Jewel weed is the natural antidote to poison ivy. In the wild they typically grow in close proximity. It's really a wonder how quickly the plant's gel will stop the progression of the poison in the system. Plant some next to a stream, if you have that option. It'll take off really well in that environment.

Somewhere in the far reaches is a memory of a natural insect repellent for biters. If it creeps to the forefront I'll make certain to let you know. What keeps pushing through is lavender. Try some lavender essential oil dabbed on the cuffs of your jeans and other spots on your clothing next time you go out.

My mother always kept some sprigs in her pocket that she'd squeeze periodically when she worked in the garden. I just realized this was why she did this. :laughtwo: All these years and I was clueless, believing she did that simply because she loved the smell. Lol!

Good morning everyone

I wore myself out there on Sunday, overindulging on capsules in my attempt to see if I'd hit a point where it became uncomfortable. Ten capsules over nine hours never got undoable, but it certainly is taking me more than overnight to recover. :laughtwo: It was in the name of science, and not something I recommend anyone else follow me on. But it was great fun too, and fascinating to discover that the fresh harvest infused oil doesn't create the sense of "too much" in my system.

It'll be interesting to see what difference an oil made with Carnival will do. I'm pretty certain that the incredible effects I'm getting from the CBD Critical Cure capsules are due to the balance of ratios, with slightly more CBD.

But I'm up, I'm chipper as hell, ready and more than willing to play one more day in this generous cosmos we call home. First up for me today was a CAT drench for CBD Critical Cure 2.1.1. I'm seriously late on this one, at 37 days into bloom, but she's not been much of a drinker until this stage. She's droopy this morning, suggesting I switch watering to every four days instead of five.

Smells amazing! :thedoubletake: I've grown so fond of this strain that her perfume makes my mouth water in anticipation. Lol!

Time for a shower and some nutritional sustenance. Before I wander off, let me take a moment to encourage you to find ways to share the joy we cultivate among ourselves as you go through your day. Grab a few hugs while you're at it. I took them for granted for many years, believing I'd have many more years snuggled in those loving arms. Grab a few for me too. :battingeyelashes:

See you around the forums.

Oh...... Take a moment and congratulate this month's contest winners. :bravo: It'll make both of your days sparkle just a bit more. And consider a candidate for this month's MOTM contest. Nominations open up today. :circle-of-love:

Did you guys notice I flew past 30,000 posts this week? :thedoubletake: Yeah..... I find it just as stunning. Never, in my wildest imaginings did I conjur up this wonderful reality.

I was trying to keep an eye out though, so I could jump up and down appropriately, and once again I missed the mark. Lol!

Maybe I'll catch 30,100.

Yeah... Then there's the 20,400 images in the gallery, and you wouldn't believe the numbers in private messages. I honestly didn't know I had it in me. :battingeyelashes:

Thank you. :hugs: I'm relieved it's so well recieved, because I sure can't seem to slow it down at all. Some days I feel like I'm just getting started.
