SweetSue's Perpetual 2.0 - The Transition To Doc Bud's HBB Kit

Sue: Out of the AK47 x Durbin Poison seeds you sent me, I got 1 bushy female, one bushy male, and one lanky female. One branch of the male is in a vase of water, bent over a paper plate to catch the pollen. I caught him on the day all his pods appeared, so no chance of messing with all my girls this time. I'll pollinate one chosen branch of the bush female.

The odors coming off this Jamaican strain vary from herbal to cat pissy, depending on whether I just watered them or they are just mellowing out. I expect good things from them, and will clone the bushy lady, because I like her phenotype better than the lanky one.

The White Castles are VERY vigorous and very Indica-looking. Leaves as big as my hand, thick stems. I will have to clone them soon, before they flower, once I find room to do so!

I haven't started any of the others yet, but maybe after this grow is harvested.

Dropped a seed today I'm gonna try sprouting it in perlite. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I sure hope you get one that starts like this:

It also occurred to me today that watering the hempies would be easier with a plant stand in the sink. :laughtwo: Sometimes the most obvious things go right over my head. Lol!

Isn't that Ultra Dawg looking luscious? :dreamy:

I so want to grow one. Yours is quite a beauty!

My beans are on route. Happy, happy happy...

That little bush you have looks amazing.
It certainly is! It's like those indoor plants (e.g. A Peace Lily) you might occasionally see in a Medical Clinic reception - that looks so perfect and shiny, that you have to give a leaf a little pinch to see if it's artificial. Or...is that only me that does that?!

Where do you get your seeds from?
She is in tight with the seed fairy

But I do know in her early days she got some from seedsman, good place, I've shopped there 3x

Wow that is an awesome seed collection!

Why thank you DrDoob. :battingeyelashes: :welcome: to my joyful journal and to the :420: community. I see you're newly arrived. Make yourself comfey and get to know this delightful crew. Oh guys look.... I captured a picture of the sun's rays this morning. How cool is that? :laughtwo:

What better way to segue into my greeting. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Good morning everyone:Love:

Did you remember to announce your willingness to engage the universe in play? There's still time, I'll wait :battingeyelashes:...................

Ok, all better? Great, let's get in with sharing that bubbling joyfulness with those lucky enough to cross your path. I started the day planting. :woohoo:

Thin Mint Cookies has roots poking out. Not many, and if she were going into soil I might wait a couple more days, but she's a hempy, so no need to put it off.

IMG_92453.JPG

Tried something new. Well.... I tried two new things. :cheesygrinsmiley: First, I decided to start my clones and seedlings in solo cup hempies. Then I decided to saturate the perlite with a diluted mix of nutrients prior to planting. Before I went to bed I mixed up two cups of water at 1/8 strength and let the perlite soak overnight. I'm using the RX Green Solutions Grow Better nutrients.

IMG_92724.JPG

Then I filled my cups and planted. I decided to go with the plugs for germination. I don't feel confident that I get temps consistently high enough to sprout seeds. I keep the apartment at around 73 degrees, year round.

IMG_92472.JPG

Theyre resting in their spots. The clone will be on the floor until she's moved under the veg lights tomorrow. I'll do my best to keep from frying this one. :laughtwo:

Alright, time for a steamy shower and some nutrients for SweetSue. I'll be devoting my day to pulling together a community thread on hempies. We've had an explosion in interest and that calls for a centralized headquarters, don't you think? You all know how much I love doing a new thread. :laughtwo:

Oh! I forgot...there's an event at the labrynth this morning. Thank goodness for the alarm function. Lol! I need to get my butt moving. I'll catch up later. :ciao:

....Hey.....I haven't said it right out loud in a while, but you know how much I adore you all, right? Yeah.... but sometimes it's nice to hear the words. :circle-of-love:

Sue, how do you start your seeds?

Sue, how do you start your seeds?

Good morning GrowCity :hugs: When I plant in soil I start the seeds in a one gallon pot. I soak the seed for 12 hrs or so and then drop it into the hole in the middle of the pot, which was dusted with Roots!, a powdery additive we use with Doc Bud's HighBrix Blend kit. Autos are the exception. They get planted directly into the finish pots.

When planting in perlite I start the seed in a Rapid Rooter plug, turned upside down for stability and soaked in a dilution of fresh aloe vera gel. That plug goes into a small cup that gets set under the lights until they sprout, at which time I immediately plant them in their starter pots.

Today I decided to forego the aloe soak and soaked the perlite in nutrients instead, and then planted the plug from the get go.

Scorpio, that answered your question too. :battingeyelashes:

Yup it did, thanks hun

Gunna start 3 today from seed in hempy
2 with osmos+ and 1, an auto, I'll do with nutes . I want to compare the hempy vs soil with my current and past Autos. Not real keen yet on the autos so wanna test and tune a bit

Have you looked through this journal yet? I consider it the handbook on autos. They were so successful with this grow that they shut down production. They had too much stock on hand. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Arteekay's Second Grow - Crop King Autos & Feminized - Mixed Strains

Gosh...... I miss arteekay something fierce. You remind me a bit of him Scorpio. Your voices even sound alike. :battingeyelashes:

Thanks as always hun

Thanks for the pleasant greetings. This forum seems like it's got some great people with great info to share. I'm a voracious reader/learner/experimenter so to discover a great source of knowledge like this is awesome!

I just harvested my first plant (an outdoor Auto VIP Dwarf from some friends in Spain) in 20 years or so and it rekindled my love of growing. It's amazing what has and hasn't changed in the last 20 years or so. I've got a few more outdoor photo's growing nicely then will be switching to indoor after they are harvested.

what does the aloe Vera do? I've never heard of that. I'm not too familiar with growing :-)

Aloe vera and willow water are natural rooting compounds. They help a cutting grow roots.

Willow Water (willow sticks soaked in water) are used by farmers, especially tree farmers.

Aloe vera is a home sized solution. A piece of Aloe vera is cut off the plant to reveal the aloe gel inside or one can buy aloe gel in big box stores or pharmacies.

Fresh cut stems are dipped in aloe gel or aloe gel can be added to the rooting water.

As Rad so wonderfully explained, I use it for rooting. Before I take a cutting from a plant I first cut a piece off the nearest aloe vera plant.

IMG_92824.JPG

This one has been closest most often lately. Lol!

IMG_92836.JPG

I use the immersion blender to whirl it into some distilled water and soak the plugs I place the cuttings into. This saturates them with the rooting potential aloe offers. I rest the stem of the cutting inside the cleaned out aloe fillet to coat it with more gel before I dip it into rooting hormone and set it into the plug.

The aloe, along with the excellent cloning bag technique Lembatoast taught me have helped me have a 100% success rate with my clones, saving me space and effort. I only take one cutting per plant going into flower.

You have me really excited about my Jamaican seeds. :laughtwo: Neiko is thrilled with the one he's got going too, says it reminds him of Negril. That's the same one I'm growing. :slide:

Have you posted recent pictures of the White Castles? While I was making the list it was one of the ones I no longer have on hand and I was thinking about you and smiling. :battingeyelashes:

I sure hope mine comes close to the beauty you pull off Jim. You're going to make the UD shine. You make everything in your tent shine. I've never forgotten how you threw yourself into understanding nutrients back in the beginning. It certainly has show itself to be time well spent. :hugs:

One of these days I'm going to be smart enough to follow your example and dig out the link you left me. Gosh Jim, that was forever ago. How time flies when you're having fun, eh? :kisstwo:

@SweetSue you inspired me to catalog my seeds. So far I have:

1024 Feminized
VIP Dwarf Auto Feminized (I just harvested most of one of these)
Kera LA Widow Feminized
Violet Haze Feminized
FREE OG Kush Feminized
Amphetamine Auto Feminized
White Widow Automatic Feminized
THC Bomb Auto Feminized
Skunk #1 AUTO Feminized
Sensi Skunk Auto Feminized
King's Kush Auto Feminized
West Coast O.G. Auto Feminized
Purple Haze Auto Feminized
FREE AK Auto Feminized
Unknown OG Bag Seed from B
Random Dispensary Bag Seeds

Not quite as impressive as yours but I will be meeting up with a friend soon who has some of my old seeds I bred over 20 years ago, so that will be nice, if they are still good. I got all those autos to grow on the balcony in the winter (I've got a couple photos out there now). But since I got them I caught the growing bug and got a whole indoor system so I might trade the auto's for some photo strains and just stick to indoor. I just took clones of the outdoor stuff to grow indoor so hopefully that works out for me.

There is also several local dispensaries that sell clones and seeds, but they always have weird breeds that are just fake named hybrids. I did see some Godfather OG clones are available at a reputable place so I might try them.

Anyways I'm not sure if this is how to use this forum but here is a couple pics of my little balcony auto vip dwarf that inspired me I can't wait to try it out in a week or two:
