Not quite as impressive as yours but I will be meeting up with a friend soon who has some of my old seeds I bred over 20 years ago, so that will be nice, if they are still good. I got all those autos to grow on the balcony in the winter (I've got a couple photos out there now). But since I got them I caught the growing bug and got a whole indoor system so I might trade the auto's for some photo strains and just stick to indoor. I just took clones of the outdoor stuff to grow indoor so hopefully that works out for me.

There is also several local dispensaries that sell clones and seeds, but they always have weird breeds that are just fake named hybrids. I did see some Godfather OG clones are available at a reputable place so I might try them.

Anyways I'm not sure if this is how to use this forum but here is a couple pics of my little balcony auto vip dwarf that inspired me I can't wait to try it out in a week or two:

Nice list DrDoob. I started my :420: adventure with a THC Bomb auto. :cheesygrinsmiley: And congrats on the stellar harvest. Well done. :bravo: Why not run autos indoors? You only need one tent and one light schedule, 20/4 start to finish. Grown properly you can expect 4-6 oz per plant every three months. Not a bad deal. If I didn't have so many wonderful photo strains going already I'd be considering autos, but how does one give up Carnival? I just want it all, so I went with hempies to save real estate. :battingeyelashes:

Be careful with clones from a dispensary. They're known to carry mites. No one needs to meet the Borg.

Thanks for the kind words. The main reason I don't want to grow autos is I want to breed my own strains (I made awesome ones in the 90s) and I don't think adding auto to the mix is what I am going for at the moment. Although I've been reading that adding auto genetics is a great way to increase CBD content. I probably will end up growing some of them. Since I bought them specifically to grow on the balcony I just didn't really even consider growing them in the indoor system to be honest.

I have three small tents set up. One for clones, mothers and seedlings (2'x2'x4'). One for veg (27"x27"x63") and one for flowering (24"x48"x70"). I have been slowly buying everything I need I think I got just about everything now.

I doubt this specific dispensary would sell clones with mites, but I don't doubt many do. I live right next to a canyon so I have many insect issues. Lol in fact you can probably see leaf damage in those photos I uploaded. I have to hunt down caterpillars every day in my balcony garden.

Why not just grow your autos out in the living room like houseplants? Since light isn't an issue, you really don't need a tent. In fact. you only need a tent to regulate the light for flowering. Of course, there is the stealth issue, depending on where you live or if you're still being stealthy, even tho it might be legal.

I tend to be stealthy... old habit, to keep the thieves away from my door.

I just don't have visitors. Living 40 steep steps up makes my place the last one to get picked for a gathering. Lol! Once you're in my home it's hard to miss my hobby. :battingeyelashes:

My girlfriend would never allow me to grow in the living room. She's already kind of upset about the stuff drying In the closet (I assured her that her clothes would not hold the smell, but I think they might). She doesn't go out to the garage so hasn't seen the three tents in there yet. She is already on edge about what's on the balcony, so I'll just play it slow.

I'd like to say I'm stealthy too but lol I'm pretty sure when my neighbors look out their kitchen window their view is obscured by my plants.

Dangerous territory my friend. Gotta keep the spousal unit happy.
I grow in a tin shed out in the damn New Orleans sun because of such reasons.... and she still bitches about the power bill boost from AC.
Yup... happy wife, happy life. It's a rule of thumb that has really improved my world.

Thanks for the pleasant greetings. This forum seems like it's got some great people with great info to share. I'm a voracious reader/learner/experimenter so to discover a great source of knowledge like this is awesome!

I just harvested my first plant (an outdoor Auto VIP Dwarf from some friends in Spain) in 20 years or so and it rekindled my love of growing. It's amazing what has and hasn't changed in the last 20 years or so. I've got a few more outdoor photo's growing nicely then will be switching to indoor after they are harvested.

Hey DrDoob
Welcome. I've just grown my first indoor plants having only grown outdoor and not for 20 years also! This website has been a godsend - with so many helpful members. And I love admiring their pics of awesome grows. We've got the ideal climate for outdoor growing in Western Australia but it's getting more difficult to find a secure spot. Glad to hear your enjoying growing again. Respect.

Good morning everyone

Wow! What a morning! Rolled out of bed right into a qi gong 8 Brochades session, not a common occurance of late. Went straight from that energy reset into Hempy H2O before I even stopped for breakfast, and then ran smack dab into a rare Monday morning live stream with Pigeons 420. Haha. Buzzed before the morning capsule. Lol!

I've been taking pictures of the hempy girls for the new thread and decided to show off Candy Cane. She gets the short end a lot. I'll have to get her sister in veg into a bigger pot before I flip her.

Candy Cane 2 (Day 78) I have no idea how long she's been flowering. I thought she was an auto and I didn't take notice, but I seem to remember bloom started around 20 days or so. She'll go until she's done. :cheesygrinsmiley:

She explodes with new pistils with each watering. I'm getting excited. The weight is beginning to be noticable. :slide: This is the daughter's favorite. I want to learn to grow them big and bold. Bigger than this one for sure, although she's not gonna be a slacker, from the looks of her.

Just couldn't get a clear shot this morning. :laughtwo: The colas are frosting up nicely.

All those yellowing leaves are blocking all the deeper green that'd process more energy.

I removed some, taking the ones most yellow.

Back home, snug in her corner of the tent.

Looks good in there. I'm a happy, happy camper. :blunt:

I woke up up this morning and remembered a dream! :thedoubletake: I almost never remember dreaming anymore, what with the THC load I usually carry. Lol! You'll appreciate the dream: I was getting ready to close the curtain on the tiny closet and every time I'd turn my back a light would come back on. This happened a couple times and then I unplugged the timer and plugged it back in, because the solution to most tech problems is to shut the system down and restart, correct? Well, in my dream it worked just like that. :laughtwo:

Haven't yet figured out the significance of this dream, but it tickled me that the one I finally remember is filled with lighting mystery. Don't mess with my plants, and in particular, don't mess with their lights.

Another brilliantly beautiful day to get out there and share your joy with all you meet. I did a meditation on gratitude yesterday and realized I have so much to be thankful for that I overlook, and then I realized how much I have to gain by starting to pay attention more closely. If the universe is bringing me a reflection of what I'm putting out - and I know it is already - what might my life begin to look like if I stop periodically during my day to do a little celebration for everything I can think of at the moment that I'm grateful for? It was great fun to do yesterday, lots of giggling and feeling thrills running under the skin, my personal sign that I'm in alignment with the greater part of me, the part that's privy to what's ahead and inspires my action.

I'll let you know when things begin to speed up. :cheesygrinsmiley: You're welcome to join me. :battingeyelashes:

More work ahead. I'll be seeing you around the forums. :ciao:

Good evening Sue! Atleast here it's almost evening! Sooo yeah, I'm back! I guess atleast, I'll probably forget to check on you guys again very soon but I'll try to remember!

I've just updated my little plants journal with my Blueberries and a Hollands Hope. You should check it out! Because my blueberries have weird ridges kind of thingies that I'm kind of worried about

Get us a link rik. And good morning/evening. :hugs:

I got my veg and flower tents all set up and running last night (clone tent has been up for a few days) for the first time with everything installed; lights, fans, and filters. Now, I don't know if I can help myself but to bring in a couple plants from the balcony to the flower tent as they do seem perfect size for it.

I also have a freshly sprouted 1024 seedling I could toss in the veg tent, and would grab a couple dispensary clones to fill in the excess space. Bringing them inside from outside, I of course would have to watch closely for insects, but I live on a canyon and I have a feeling I will be battling insects a lot, might as well start now. I often must engage in epic battles to the death with strange canyon creatures just to take a shower or get a glass of water in the night, so I imagine the grow tents will be similar gladiatorial experience.

I've been checking out hempys and I reckon I might give it a shot after I get a bit more established with my current plans. I used to grow with about 75% perlite to 25% vermiculite ratio in self watering wicking pots which seems pretty similar to hempys but with a bit more of an exposed reservoir (which evetually turned nasty).

I currently also have a slightly similar set up planned with about 2 inches of lava rocks at the bottom of grow bags filled with soil sitting in wash tubs that are hanging below my lights in the veg tent. I was planning on drilling holes in bottom of the containers with hoses connected to drain the run off, but now I might drill the holes up a couple inches just to see how it goes in a slightly hempy style, I'm a bit concerned as the reservoir would be exposed to air and light.

Anyways thanks for making me feel welcome. I don't mean to derail your thread, I just like having people to talk about this stuff, cause off-line I don't want to tell anyone what I got going on.

Please.....:battingeyelashes: There's no derailing a journal dedicated to the joys of cultivating cannabis. :laughtwo: I don't see any danger of hijacking one of my threads. :hugs:

That sounds intriguing. Shoot a picture of the grow bags in the wash tubs if you would, so I can see how you're exposing the reservoir to the light. I think I can envision it, but I want to be certain. The reservoir would be the wash tubs? Any way to create a simple top for the tubs, possibly out of cardboard with a slit and covered with duck tape? Just something to cut most of the light.

I occasionally fire up a SWICK, a bed of perlite more than a few inches deep that you set the fabric pots right onto. It allows the plants to water themselves, and comes in real handy for late veg and flowering. They grow lots of algae on the surface, but it's no problem other than appearances. I never worry about what micro creatures want to grow in the perlite. Nothing that can survive there can damage my plants.

I've been toying with the idea of cloning a large amount of outdoor plants in my cannabis area. My thought was to take my cuttings or potted plants and dunk the who thing in 5 gallon buckets of Hydrogen Peroxide water for 5-10 minutes.

Anyone think this is a good or bad idea from bringing in plants from outside the grow areas?

Every time I see someone do this they end up with unwanted bugs. Proceed with caution.

I want to a perpetual grow so I figured hanging them ad different adjustable heights would work well.

That is so f*n cool! :high-five:

If it were me I'd buy some black felt and make skirts that tack onto to the bags and fall over the edges to protect the reservoir from light. Cut down blackout curtains would do it too.

What's supporting them? They're gonna get heavy when they're in full bloom. What medium are you using?

Hey Sue, hope you had a great weekend. Quick question for you or anyone else that does the slow and low dry/cure. I have my harvest in jars with cheese cloth over the top and have them in the fridge. How long should I keep them like this? Should I take them out daily or just keep them as is? Any info is appreciated. I want to do this dry and cure for the best product.

Ohhh good idea. I have some black felt type fabric too.

Right now they are just being supported by the tent's rails, which said they support up to 150 lbs (these LED lights, fan and filter are all less then 60lbs I reckon) I was thinking of adding some metal pipes to add support or maybe even a 2"x4" if it seems to need it. This is just for the veg tent so far, and as they grow I will be moving them down so that hopefully by the time they are ready for flowering and/or too heavy they will be down on the ground already. If it works out I guess I will probably do the same in the flowering tent, but I think I will have to add supports for sure.

Right now they are all in soil, but I have a few extra tubs and grow bags to try new things with. I also could put a couple smaller hempy pots in one of those tubs, they currently have 5 gal grow bags.

I also built a flood and drain set up out of some Rubbermade commercial tubs that I might use. I'm undecided. It seems like it would be easy to go from a hempy pot in veg to the flood and drain setup for flowering (a lot easier then from soil at least).

My clones I took the other day from the balcony seem to be doing well so far. I haven't really given them any light yet as I want them to have a few days of strong shade after growing in the sun for a couple months. They seem to be bug free so far but I won't be surprised if I have some kind of infestation soon, especially if I move all the plants from the balcony to flower inside.

BTW I don't think I complemented you on how nice your girls are looking. Very inspiring, makes me really want to try out a hempy pot or 10!

@rikvasen your thread looks very interesting too!

I added some pictures of my balcony garden if you want to see what I keep talking about.
