SweetSue's Perpetual 2.0 - The Transition To Doc Bud's HBB Kit

Something to think about. One of the members turned me on to a series of YouTube videos on psychedelic use for medicinal purposes. Turns out they do a damn fine job with serious depression.

This is a picture comparing the communication of a "normal" brain with one using magic mushrooms. :thedoubletake:

We know so little because of mindless and groundless fear.

It has also shown good results against PTSD. Also MDMA is showing good results against several mental issues. It's a bright new world out there. We only need to embrace and understand it.

Good morning everyone

Up until 4 last night finishing up an oil run. I'm seriously sleep deprived right now. Today's a walking day with the girls. Hopefully I'll get to bed at a more reasonable hour and catch up. I have a harvest to get underway.

Today I'll gather up necessities. Might make myself hit Wally World for a pressure cooker. Probably not. :laughtwo: It won't kill me to do one more batch with an oil bath. I know this baby won't wait much longer. She's at 100 days now and day 60 of flowering.

Carnival's now 110 days, 60 in flower. She's still a week or two out and foxtailing! :yahoo:

OK....., a glance in the tent made me really joyful. Let me get my butt dressed and out the door to share that joy with my community. How 'bout you do the same? Sounds like a plan. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Be joyful my friends. :Namaste:

There's no way you'll ever convince me to take bananas out of the finish flowering tent. There's a world of difference between this potential harvest and all my previous ones with the same strains.

Yesterday I devoted to the Panama Haze. I got lots done, but the day was pretty much swallowed up in a lovely fog. Today I'll be spending all of my buzz time with Malawi. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Of course I'm still buzzed from those last hits at 4 AM. :laughtwo:

Pot Chimp often shoves his cuttings into the pot of the mother, and they take too. I've yet to try cutting and planting immediately, but it certainly tempts me. Did you strip the "skin" and use rooting hormone?

I wonder if I could get this to work inside a bag?

I never strip the skin or scrape the stalk anymore. I just cut the stem and plunged it into the moist dirt.

Are your buds getting a ton better under the new lighting? It sure looks that way.

It sure looks that way Tead. The bananas are contributing to it, but this has become something beyond that. :cheesygrinsmiley:

I agree Tead

those COBs are doing a nice job on bud production

Perhaps it's the photos.... perhaps just a big-bud strain.... whatever.... I just had to register that the buds are looking thicker these days 'round these parts. Magic lights there HH and great job under them SS!

There's been a sweet movement around here of upping the game with lighting. You're not imagining the explosive growth. This is new to my garden. I believe I'm growing my best plants, even with the occasional stumble, as in my inadvertent attempt to fry my vegging plants. :laughtwo: They're all recovering though. I'll anticipate more potent oils. Lol!

Good morning everyone:Love:

Almost caught up on sleep. Maybe one more night will do it. We must have a full moon on the horizon. As I get older I find the moon phases has more effect on my physiology.

I was planning to meet a friend for lunch and that may not happen today, but I put off my planned harvest. I like to chop at lights on. If the schedule opens there'll be the time for chopping, washing, and processing into valuable oil today. I was wondering if it'd be better to wait until tomorrow. Is there any real reason to chop first thing in the morning?

I still have to get to the store for a new immersion blender and other basic supplies like lemon juice. I've been lost in exploring these lovely sativas I received last week. That Malawi is good enough I'll have to grow one out myself. :cheesygrinsmiley: Let me roll myself out of this bed and get on with the joyful dance of this new day. She looks ready to come down, doesn't she?

Time to replenish the organic bananas. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Sure is nice having a snack high in potassium sitting right here waiting for me every morning.

Joy my friends.... have fun with it today. Look for the small details to deepen your appreciation for the wonder of this cosmos we get to play in at least one more day. I'm so glad I get to share my journey with all of you. :circle-of-love:

Still a few white hairs (pistils) strategically growing out of that bud. She looks like she might be ready for a couple of weeks of foxtailing.

I'd say a 3 out of 4 chance she will put on more bud weight for at least 10 days.

I'd wait two days before I decided if it was time to chop.

Thank you for that encouragement Rad. :hugs::hugs::hugs: I was just thinking the same thing, looking at the pictures. Putting bananas in there changed the way these bloom. The breeder's timeline was 60 days in flower, and she's at 61 today, I believe.

OK, I'm game. There's no shortage of oil on hand, so I can afford to take my time with her. :high-five:

I'm on for my luncheon date. :yahoo: We only get together about once every month or two, and I didn't want to miss my time with her. She has to put her cat of 19 years down today, so she'll need the friendly shoulder.

I've been exploring those sativas, and as much as I'm enjoying the buzz I've been aware that they lack something Carnival offers, but I can't put my finger on it, so today I'll contrast the experience of them with a day spent exclusively on Carnival. :slide:

Time to get serious about the buzz. :laughtwo:

What is your success rate with just sticking into the soil Rad? I know with my veggies its almost 100%, but I didn't know if cannabis is as receptive to that type of cloning as tomatoes and peppers.

What exactly do the bananas do for the flowering Sue? I am almost halfway through my flower phase so I am definitely curious.

Bananas are probably giving the space additional ethylene. Caveat here as Sue has 2 new variables going on. The other being the new lights. Here's a little primer I copied:

What Is Ethylene Gas: Information On Ethylene Gas And Fruit Ripening

By Amy Grant

Perhaps you have heard it said not to place your newly harvested fruits in the fridge alongside other types of fruits to avoid over-ripening. This is due to the ethylene gas that some fruits give off. What is ethylene gas? Keep reading to learn more.
What is Ethylene Gas?

Without scent and invisible to the eye, ethylene is a hydrocarbon gas. Ethylene gas in fruits is a naturally occurring process resulting from the ripening of the fruit, or may be produced when plants are injured in some way.

So, what is ethylene gas? Ethylene gas in fruits and vegetables is actually a plant hormone which regulates the plant's growth and development as well as the speed at which these occur, much as hormones do in humans or animals.

Ethylene gas was first discovered about 100 years ago when a student noticed that trees growing near gas street lamps were dropping leaves more rapidly (abscising) than those planted at a distance from the lamps.
Effects of Ethylene Gas and Fruit Ripening

Cellular amounts of ethylene gas in fruits reaches a level whereupon physiological changes occur. The effects of ethylene gas and fruit ripening may also be affected by other gases such as carbon dioxide and oxygen, and varies from fruit to fruit. Fruits such as apples [1] and pears [2] emit a greater amount of ethylene gas in fruits, which affects their ripening. Other fruits, like cherries [3] or blueberries [4], produce very little ethylene gas and it, therefore, does not impinge upon the ripening process.

The effect of ethylene gas upon fruit is a resulting change in texture (softening), color and other processes. Thought of as an aging hormone, ethylene gas not only influences the ripening of fruit but may also cause plants to die, generally occurring when the plant is damaged in some manner.

Other effects of ethylene gas are loss of chlorophyll, abortion of plant foliage and stems, shortening of stems, and bending of the stems (epinasty). Ethylene gas can be either a good guy when used to hasten ripening of fruit, or a bad guy when it yellows vegetables, damages buds or causes abscission in ornamental specimens.
Further Information on Ethylene Gas

A plant messenger that signals the plant's next move, ethylene gas can be used to trick the plant into ripening its fruits and vegetables earlier. In commercial environments, farmers use liquid products that are introduced pre-harvest. The consumer may do this at home by simply placing the fruit or vegetable in question inside a paper bag, like a tomato [5]. This will concentrate the ethylene gas inside the bag, allowing the fruit to ripen more quickly. Do not use a plastic bag, which will trap moisture and may backfire on you, causing the fruit to rot.

Ethylene may be produced not only in ripening fruit, but from internal combustion exhaust engines, smoke, rotting vegetation, natural gas leaks, welding and in some types of manufacturing plants.

What is your success rate with just sticking into the soil Rad? I know with my veggies its almost 100%, but I didn't know if cannabis is as receptive to that type of cloning as tomatoes and peppers.

Success rates for just sticking a freshly cut stem into moist soil

4-6" - 000% - 0 for 3
12" - 100% - 2 for 2

I don't usually clone this way, but when I snap a top while supercropping, I will often just take it and press it down into the soil. After I am done training a plant, I decide what to do with the 'clone' just like I decide what to do with leaves or spilled dirt. Sometimes my decision is just to leave it in the ground and see if it grows :)

I'm not a master gardener, but my impression is that a young cannabis plant likes to root almost as much as a young tomato plant. After they do the hormone shift of flowering, my experience is that cannabis is less easy to clone. Pre-flowering is no problem, actual flowering seems to shift hormones away from vegetative growth and growing roots towards flower growth and ripening.

Some people seem to do fine cloning after flowering: SweetSue has started taking her clones at 21+ days into flower. I still prefer to take my clones in pre-flowering mode.
