SweetSue's Cannabis Oil Study Hall

Amazing thread, Sue.. thanks for all your research.

I am just starting my own research for help for my wife who suffers from Rheumatoid Arthritis.

We have been managing pain, by vaporizing strains that are good for pain (RockStar, Blue Dream, etc).
We also understand that some strains also help with inflammation.

But, from what I'm reading, mostly here in your Study Hall, is that she would probably gain the most benefit from using CCO in some manner that promotes direct absorption into the blood stream ( tacking, suppositories), rather than ingesting it.

Is this all correct?

If so, I guess I'll be making some CCO.

I'm in a small apartment building and cannot grow here (believe me, I've tried to figure a way to make it work!), so I'll probably have to buy from a dispensary,or on the street, and make my CCO from that.

As for picking a strain for her pain and inflammation, do you have any suggestions? Here in our city, our dispensaries have a fairly big selection.

Thanks Sue, and to all you other gurus, who have given me so much valuable reading materials... into the wee hours...

Many people with RA find relief with nothing more then a topical cream. You are in the right place to do your research. :circle-of-love::peace:

The cream works well for my wife. It doesn't take all pain away but it does give her a lot of relief. Mainly it's her hands. I made mine with Skunk #1. Recipe is about 10 pages back, no more than 15.

Is Rick Simpson Oil CCO?

cannaoil,is like cannabutter, something you use in foods for example cannabis is added to oil. CCO concentrated cannabis oil is a totally different way of making and also more strong.

Fuchsia?

You may be fine by morning. I'll send healing and calming thoughts to carry you through.

:hugs::hugs::hugs:

Envision yourself wrapped up in pink. As much pink as you can stomach. Trust me on this.

Danolo, I didn't know your wife had RA. That sucks! I have RA, too. And, I've been having great success with CBD Medi-Haze. The first time I vaped it, in less than a minute my knee pain was gone. It was so cool. I've always loved getting high and it just tickles me pink that it works on pain and anxiety and insomnia plus a host of other diseases.

Like you, my husband has been doing a lot of research on strains that would be good for me. He gets high sometimes but not often so everything he learns is mainly for me. The oil I made was made with the Hash Plant he grew for me. He's tickled pink that I like it so much.

I hope you find something to help your wife. I've had RA for 12 years and it's fairly well controlled and I have a fair bit of knowledge about it if your wife hasn't had it long or needs more support.

For now she's taking 2 CBD caps a day and that is helping her sleep, plus she (we) are giving our vaporisers some good exercise.:passitleft:

:hugs: good morning SweetSue and good morning all :hugs:

I too notice my back pain and joint pains (don't know what it is really) gets relieved with cannabis. Have been munching on cookies all weekend :)
My next test will be by adding turmeric into the mix to see if it helps even better.

But I would like to plug a brand of Herbal tea that has become a favorite to mix my Cannabis with at bedtime. Yogi brand herbal teas, specifically the Bedtime blend is awesome stuff for relaxing , especially with some cannabis added! It puts me to sleep very well on those bad nights. Evidently, their blend is just right, at least for me! (taste nice too!) For me, turmeric is best in cooking Asian dishes/stir fries/curries/rice with ginger and I include it often.

Well - I've been absent for awhile. Sorry not to be up with what everyone is talking about :) I'll go back and read. I just wanted to update on my hemp oil adventures + finding a cannabis source.

So, I have been using the hemp oil for the past few weeks well. I was staying with my parents from the 10th of Nov to the 20th and for those 10 days, I didn't have to drive anywhere. I took the oil every day - sometimes multiple times, sometimes once. It seems that by taking it regularly, it really benefitted me more. The transitions became smoother and I felt better and better. But then, I came home and I simply don't feel comfortable being on the oil and driving. It makes me feel slightly groggy-ish. So I have been taking it more sporadically again. Then, several days ago, I took it while getting a slight anxiety attack, and it made me feel worse.

So, that has been interesting. I haven't taken any since, even though I've needed it for joint pain.

So that lead me to finally contacting the grower/processor I had been meaning to go to. We settled on a plan to get there week after next. We talked on the phone, and he was telling me that raw extraction (which is what he does) is different. You get the CBD + THC of the plant, you keep the benefits of THC, but there are no psychotropic properties this way. He wanted to make that clear to me again as we talked. He just said, you'll simply feel better, but not high.

I'm good with that for now. Especially because I'm very interested in how all the different varieties will affect me. I kind of like being a guinea pig on myself.

That said, while I've never been high, I'm not going to avoid it forever. I think I'll be missing out if I do :D. There is another very reputable company that I found last night (I'm not sure why searching is so hard!! I'm not a novice of searching by any means) that apparently has great oils but it isn't raw. If the raw ones don't suit me, I'll try that next. I mean, heck, I might like different kinds for different things.

Then, when I find what I like, I will start to grow, and I definitely won't be doing a raw extraction, so there ya go :). My partner is on board with trying to grow when I know what I want, and luckily, he knows how to take care of things much, much better than I do.

But after all that rambling, that leads me to a question - the differences between occasional use and regular use.....

Now, this man I talked to is a big of fan of regular use, just like SweetSue has been telling me. He also told me that you need to give the product at least two weeks of regular, daily use to start seeing the full potential. The producer of the hemp oil told me exactly the same thing, this man told me the same, and SweetSue has said similar. The problem is that I haven't given the hemp oil daily, consistent use. And it's entirely because of driving. I'm scared of being at all impaired while driving and I'm the most scared driver in the world as it is (which is an impairment all by itself, yes :) ). I'm scared of being stopped (although hemp oil doesn't show up on tests, right?), scared of not being "all there," etc. I have to drive some - I drive between my house and my parents' house to go work for them most days. Sometimes I get rides, but it's far enough away I can't be picked up/dropped off regularly (no busses or walking. I'm actually hoping that using the oil will take away my driving anxiety, so I just don't know what to do.

So, do any of you ONLY use cannabis during occasional bouts of - whatever? While I have general, daily anxiety and other issues that I live with on the daily, my main nightmare in this life is those real, true panic attacks that blow me away and make me feel like the world is ending. They usually come out of nowhere, not just when I'm experiencing general anxiety. And THAT is where the hemp oil really does not seem to help. But regardless, do any of you have something that stops those in its tracks? And if some of you don't use daily cannabis (which I do plan to try to make happen), do you get full relief using it occasionally?

I'm just curious and trying to figure it all out. I also realized I'm kind of like a little kid - I keep trying to find the whys, the hows, and all the what ifs :D. It's a fun process for me.

Thanks all for all your help!!!

Oh, I see quickly that others are talking about joint pain, too :D

In the past, high amounts of digestive and/or systemic enzymes REALLY relieved joint pain. And all of my intestinal and digestive issues. And candida issues. The problem lately has been that to take enough of them gives me some level of anxiety (as most supplements do these days). For normal people, it gives GREAT energy, for me, it's anxiety :P. I recently had a friend who started using them experience the same. My favorites are Fibrenza and EnzyPerfect (from NutraPerfect). I now take 1 Fibrenza in the morning and do well with that, but it isn't enough to relieve pain.

Also, good quality fish oil helps. I like NutriWest complete omega 3 essentials (I was out for MONTHS because they were unavailable, but I just got my shipment and started them day before yesterday and they are already helping, just 1/day).

I also just started The Synergy Company Turmeric. I really like this company I was using just plain Turmeric + black pepper + coconut oil in a tea, but it wasn't helping and it was hurting my stomach, so I thought I'd give this a go.

Good luck to us all :D

Not that I'm trying to push you to grow Danolo, but my first grow was in a closet that measured 33"X 13" deep and 5' high, using only CFLs I had hanging around and over the plants by cords. I pulled 4.5 ounces my first grow, with few resources, a rediculously limited space that required my removing the door and growing autos like house plants (I still use this space for my favorite strain under my favorite light) and no experience behind me at all.

We can teach you how to grow an amazing product in a small cabinet with training techniques meant to maximize the harvest. Even under the worst conditions you can typically pull at least an ounce (I frequently get less, but enjoy it all the same) and keep yourself that much further ahead.

There's much to be said for controlling the choice and the quality of the buds. Nothing you purchase will come close in quality to what you can easily grow yourself. Then there's the oft-praised joy of growing cannabis. They're unlike any other species. They become a personal part of the healing process and I suspect they feed off the energy of the cultivator and deliver just what the patient needs.

:laughtwo: My initial goal here was simply to demonstrate how anyone could grow cannabis and keep themselves medicated. At the very least reduce med costs. The plants you'll grow yourself will be hand-chosen to produce the maximum volume of oil, and then you'll play with cultivation technique to enhance trichome development even more than genetics offers alone. Ditchweed242 just harvested an Incredible Bulk that was so loaded with trichomes that he said parts of it "were basically goo." You won't find that in a dispensary.

Pulled out a couple of trichome shots today. Really fun to do.

I couldn't be more pleased that you need to know the hows and whys. :hugs:

Cannabis is an herbal medication. We've been raised in the time of pharmaceutical drugs, and we think in terms of instant results when we take those little pills. Those little pills that come with such devastating side effects while most often only masking symptoms.

Cannabis works from the inside out, modifying the signals throughout the system to bring your body back to homeostasis and keep it there. Most of us are deficient in the health and well-being of our Endocannabinoid systems. Cannabis relieves the performance pressure your ECS can't meet on its own until such time as your system can take charge of the process once again. This can sometimes take months. You have the charge to remain consistent in your administrations throughout, whether or not you sense the results. The important early work of rebuilding the deficient system is often something you'd have no awareness of. Have faith. It's really healing. You can't stop it from happening.

But it's important to at least attempt to keep a consistent supply coming in. Otherwise you're forcing your system to unnecessarily deal with a feast/famine reality. Think of the additional pressure that puts on the ECS.

I believe the raw extraction may be a good fit for you Sara, and once again, let me assure you, you'll come to a point where the anxiety is an irritation that strikes on occassion, instead of the presence breathing down on your neck all these years. Keep a positive vision in your mind of carefree driving. Those days are ahead. This cultivator you're speaking to will work with you to find the best mix and regimine for you. This is the type of personal oversight you need right now, and I'm pleased you'll be getting it.

If I had to hazard a guess Sara, I'd say that you're sensitive to sativas, and possibly to THC as well. Share that with your cultivator/caregiver when you have that meeting. With my daughter we had to go with a balanced ratio of an indica-dominant plant. As to the problems with euphoria, if you learn to tack, those concerns will be ancient history. I'm pretty certain your upcoming meeting will alleviate your concerns.

The anxiety can, and will, be conquered. This isn't something we hope for at all, it's something we accept as inevitable. :hugs:

It amazes me how the brain adapts to the language. When I started this journey, every passage had to be torn apart and translated into understandable English. I just realized how far my own brain has come in being able to instantly digest this information. I've become comfortable with the language.

This is dangerous for me, because my chief objective here is to make this easier for all of you to understand. My charge to you, my fellow lab rats, is to call me on it if I start couching my answers in med speak.

I thank you all in advance for watching over my shoulder and keeping me accountable.

Once again, ask anything here. We'll do our best to answer.
