SweetSue's Cannabis Oil Study Hall

:welcome: to 420 Magazine, FG. I'm sorry for the loss of your mum. But, I'm happy that you turned something that was bad into something that is good and that is you researching cannabis as medicine and deciding to make medicine for your family and friends who need it. I'll look forward to following your learnings and hope when you have those "eureka" moments, you'll share them with us.

:circle-of-love:

This is the thread I was looking for, cco rso tinctures... true medicine for the body mind and soul. I don't have a history of being too open on this forum, but I don't think there is a better place to start.

I've loved cannabis since I was 14 years old. The culture it draws and the community of open people it brings together... lots of like minded folks in search of so many forms of healing. Can't deny I love getting stoned either, that comes with the territory haha. Though I'm not that many more years down the road, at 23 I've spent a fair share of that time researching cannabis. I'm happy to say a lot of that research has come from this very site.

In my early years of smoking all I think I cared about was potency; what strains/types will get me higher. I was a stoner and that's it. It wasn't until an illness in my family caused me to switch directions and would end up pushing me to learn more about this plant.

The summer before turning 16 my mom was diagnosed with late stage gastric cancer and wasn't told she would have a generous amount of time left. She was a tough women, fought hard and beat her two weeks she was given. After some time in remission and a few family trips I will never forget things began to take a turn. A scan revealed many more tumors and they were no longer reacting to her chemo sessions. I drove her to a clinic not too far from our home town every week for treatment. When the final scan had shown no improvement she decided it was time for her to stop chemo, as it only made her feel sick everytime. Six months after stopping chemo, and one month into hospice care later she passed away at home.

The world lost a compassionate, caring, understanding and loving women that day. She made me who I am today. I lost her from the earth but she lives on in everyone that was lucky to meet her. But everyone here knows how it feels to lose loved ones. So in no way do I wish to make one loss ever sound greater than another, they're all hard.

But moving forward this is why I love the community here. Everyone in pursuit of healing. I learned after losing her of the healing properties through cousins of mine... I spoke with one of their girlfriends at the time. She had rid her lungs of cancer over the course of two years of cco treatment, and lives cancer free today in VT.

I came here partially to express my intentions for my 2017 outdoor garden. I'll have 6 to 10 plants with the majority of the harvest going towards producing medicine. The types of medicine are not yet decided but cco and topicals are sure to make an appearance. I have friends and family both young and old in need of this support for various ailments. MS, cancer, epilepsy... to name a few.

I'm looking forward to adding to my notes while I read through all the information this thread will bring! From the bottom of my heart, thankyou to everyone who has contributed to this cause. Every bit of effort you put into research brings us all closer to an understanding of this plant we love. And thankyou SweetSue, I hope to have a healing garden like yours in the coming months.

Sending love and positive energy to everyone

:welcome: Looking forward to getting to know you.

I only read the first few posts, amazing information and so informative. I'm going to collect one of the kids from youth club, make a coffee (not green tea but the ginger one sounds nice ) and get comfortable and have a read.

That's great news! Maybe this guy is sensitive to cannabinoids and the little bit was just enough for him?

Or, it might just be the power of believing it's going to work and it did. Don't know. Just throwing some thoughts out there.

I am not sure what to think. I have a request for several bottles of cream. The person asking has found great relief for himself and his wife with pain that only opioids was touching. That part I get. He gave some to a friend with bad pain from a cancerous tumor in the lining around his stomach. I don't have all the details except according to the person asking for the cream, his friend started using the cream for the pain from the tumor. He got relief. He also just went for blood work. His numbers a month ago were 8.? Not sure what they were testing for. His new numbers this month are 1.3. He thinks it's the cream. I can't see how. I don't see enough cannabinoids getting to the tumor to put enough pressure to have any good as a cancer treatment.

I am just putting this out there. :peace:

Yeah, getting the munchies is not good. I definitely recommend healthy cereal with fresh fruit and low-fat milk as something that satisfies and isn't terrible for you. I used to make smoothies, too but I got bored of them.

 :thankyou:

I certainly hope the same! I bought the oil - received it quickly and put it off another few days.

The only negative - it makes me HUUUUUUUUUUUNGRY. I'll be curious to see what it does at higher doses. The 1:1 full dose killed my appetite - at lower levels I was starving. I'm hoping this will be the same :) I went to the store just now to stock up on as many fruits and veggies and lettuce as possible, because the way I've been eating the past 2 days is going to do serious damage.

It doesn't help that I'm dog/house sitting for somebody at the moment who is stocked with all the junk food one could ever want!!

I learned cooking for a diabetic that it's all about portion control. I purchase healthy snacks and bag them up in snack bags for a quick grab when I realize it's been too long and I need something right this minute. I do my best to make these whole-grain and with some protein value to them. I build a bag with about 15 gm of carbs and a few grams of protein, with a gram or two of good fats.

Hard-boiled eggs, small containers of fruit in juice, individual portions of guacamole (one of my favorite grabs, with a package of high-fiber crackers to dip into the deliciousness), and veggie sticks (no teeth, so they're steamed and kept in the fridge) with cottage cheese.

If you don't buy the junk and don't bring it home you won't be snacking on it in a moment of diminished willpower. I try to eat mindfully, but quite frankly, mindful eating is boring. I'd rather eat mindlessly while I study or write, so it becomes imperative that the foods I mindlessly consume are healthy choices.

Last night I finished the class notes on supporting the ECS. I'll be working on the thread starting today. This thread excites me. :slide:

Chad, if you're not already taking a magnesium supplement, please consider doing so. Tourette's responds dramatically to a magnesium supplement. The instructor's son had his tics stop when they introduced mag. Then they discovered he was gluten-sensitive and that if he stayed away from gluten the tics never appeared. If he eats gluten foods and the tics begin to reaccur the magnesium supplement eliminates them again.

My favorite cannacook, Corinne, over at Wake + Bake Cookbook, is releasing her latest e-book in May. She's taking preorders. This is one I'm ordering as soon as I have the funds to send off her way. The pre-order is half price, so for a mere $10 you can laugh your way through some of the best recipes for oils, tinctures and the like you're likely to find when she gets it posted. She's named this one "Dazed + Infused." :laughtwo: I love this woman's wicked sense of humor.

Dazed + Infused includes tutorials for:

8 Natural/Organic Cannabis Cooking Oils
5 Potent Tinctures
6 Topical Infusions
10+ Popular Dispensary Candy + Baked Recipes (with healthy, organic and sugar-free options)
3 Homemade Cannabis Drinks (Including Homemade Canna-soda)
4 Easy-to-Dose Medicines (Cough Drops, High Quil, and Suppositories)

Here's a link to her page on the book. Corrine brings a unique humor and artistry to the table. I thrill to find an email from her. I think you'll enjoy her too.

The munchies are a good thing as now you can provide for yourself a good protein source like a huge steak and potatoes and carrots and peas and wow so much more.

Thank you, Sue. I started taking Natural Calm a few days ago.

I have a stove and an oven that needs some attention in making some desirable content for me.

Any suggestion on who can do this for me?

:)

Well that's a loaded question. :laughtwo: Surely, there's some sparkling creature in your life willing to play with baked goods for your enjoyment and delight? If not, change that reality ASAP. Lol!

Or cook for yourself. Not the same flavor of joy, but certainly joyful expression worth the adventure. :battingeyelashes:

Thank you for munchie support!

I'm determined to just turn this into an opportunity to stuff myself with healthy foods - though I will have to focus on not overdoing it at each meal. I'm so used to have a stomach that screams NO MORE at me. It's strange not to feel that. Pre portioned snacks will be very handy.

Also - I need to drink more water. This cannabis made me thirsty as well

The worst of it comes in the morning - just that weird, almost hung over feeling and the ravenous pit in my belly. This morning a banana took care of it, so I'll just be prepared.

Thank you for the reminder of hydration being one of the easier things you can do to support the ECS. The activity of the ECS includes the enzymes that break down the cannabinoids. All that waste material needs a quick and efficient exit from the system to keep everything in balance. Drinking more water is of primary importance if you're on a cannabinoid therapy.

It helps with housekeeping. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Well there is no sparkle left as it ran away years ago :(

But there is one being in my life that in no doubt eat everything that i cook and i love this dog to death :)

I will have too maintain my life as it exists till the day comes along when a fine specimen is found to enjoy it with.

I need more recipes would like one on Hash Brownies?

The desire I feel indicates you may be closer to that sparkling creature than you might believe. The one who ran away was obviously a little misguided. How sweet that a canine companion fills your need for loving and being loved. At least enough to tide you over until...

Hopelessly romantic over here. :laughtwo: We're here to love and be loved. When we allow that to happen the soul sings a mighty song of appreciation. You ever notice how healthy newlyweds are? They have their ECS on high gear. There is no power in the universe more potent, more creative and more sustaining to health than love.

What types of foods inspire you? Move past sweets. Corrine has a wealth of ideas. Green Flower Media has attracted the interest and involvement of a couple decent cannabis chefs. For my money no one beats Corrine for sheer authenticity. She makes you feel like you're standing there giggling with her.

Cannafan, one of our talented membership, has a thread on cannafoods that's well worth digging up. The resources are immense. :cheesygrinsmiley: Pick a direction and we can play.
