SweetSue's Cannabis Oil Study Hall

Hi ya'll...am here in study hall for first, no really, 2nd time! First time was overwhelming, as I tried to start from the beginning!
Impossible, as Sue let me know!
I am ready to learn, am not as "up" on everything (or really ANYTHING) as you all are. I just know that I have BC and I need a plan of action! I have a MMJ card in NY, but don't think I could ever treat myself with the dosing they have prescribed for me. To qualify, I had to say I had pain; so this isn't meant to be curative, only palliative........I am ready to learn, but need a crash course!

Welcome to :420: and the study hall! We all started the same way as you, knowing nothing, looking for answers and getting really confused!

If you're treating breast cancer a good page to check out is A Base Treatment Regimen for Cancer. The first post is about as straightforward as you could ask for. I think understanding the 'what to do' gives one a clearer frame of reference for starting to understand the hows and whys.

And this is a safe place to ask anything. We're here to help and learn more ourselves. So welcome and good luck.

I'm not adverse to olive oil at all, but find the thought of it in my brownies off putting. I'll stick with coconut oil.:)

I hear ya. If I needed the cannabinoids to avoid the liver I know I enjoy the taste of the olive oil in my brownies, but I use coconut oil most often, both for the flavor and for the quick kick of onset. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Regarding Dietary Olive oil: I assume this is Olive oil I can buy at the grocery store? What kind or brand do I look for, and how much per day should I use to regulate the inflammation (severe) and the weight gain (since I was 9 years old)?

Yes, to the olive oil you can purchase anywhere. The controversy was with oils produced in Italy and controlled by the mob. Evidentally, someone thought it'd be a nice way to make money by diluting the good oil with substandard oils and continue to charge the inflated prices. Call it something fancy like "extra-virgin, cold press" and the world didn't notice for many years.

If you're treating cancer, get good organic. Look to the California producers. They stepped it up when the news about the polluted oils hit the airwaves. It's old news now, but the financial and trust issues will be years in the cleaning up.

I use regular olive oil, but I'm not treating anything more serious than psoriasis. I have no idea what amount would effect weight. Any amount will help reduce inflammation. It's the omega-3 that're doing that. I don't think you're talking about large amounts on a daily basis at all. A couple pieces of bread dipped in some tasty olive oil would do it, I'd think. It's the consistency of use that will impact the health issues, not so much the amount.

A greater response will be realized by limiting the omega-6 food sources. That's a challenge in our culture. They packaged them all up in tasty morsels we love to consume. Convienience foods...... hmmmmm..... Maybe not so convienient in the long run.

love you'z guys, but am exhausted. Tomorrow is another day. This will top my list, rather than "other" reading. Thanks to all. Nite

There you are Ali. :hugs:  We'll catch up with you tomorrow and begin to get it all sorted out.

really good question, Sue if ya see this, I forget but I thought there was some olive oil that was better, more pure, ?
My memory is weak at times but i remember some drama about fake olive oil?

I found myself reading through some of this info because I give my cat canna-infused coconut oil for the CBDs. just happened to catch my eye but I am sticking with coconut oil for my cat. 6 months no seizures.

So glad you tracked it down too. Thank you again. :hugs:

This was worth posting twice. Knowledge is power. That's what we're here to help with.

I'm done for the night guys. Thanks for greeting Ali KR. :hugs: I just finished Callanetics and it's been too many late nights in a row. Time to catch up. Tomorrow. :ciao:

I think you came to the right place.

Hey all. The DMSO came in yesterday so I started playing with it.

First off, it has a freezing point of 66 degrees so it was partially frozen from shipping but it thawed easily. I got Pharmaceutical grade.

I wanted to try it out right away, so I took 1T of already made cream (infused coconut oil, grape seed oil, beeswax and lavender oil and melted it back down in the microwave. I added 1t of DMSO and let it reset. Both my wife and I tried it and here were our thoughts on it.

For my wife, she started with her shoulders. I put some on before we ran to the store. We got into the car and she said "can this really be working this fast?" It as less then 5 minutes and the stiffness and soreness in her shoulders was gone. When she got home, she put some on her jaw (she has muscle tension there from grinding her teeth) and the same thing. in a couple minutes she was able to open her mouth wider then she has been able too in a long time. Lastly, we rubbed some on her toes of her right foot. She has chronic numbness there. Within 5 minutes she said she no longer felt the numbness and it felt like the circulation was better (her feelings there). She said both feet felt the same which they haven't in a long time.

I started with my knee. I have constant stiffness in my left knee. Same results as my wife. Stiffness and pain reduced to almost nothing. I was able to do a deep knee bend and stand up again with little to no effort.

This is a definite improvement in my cream (which already worked well). I will keep you all posted. :circle-of-love::peace:

Glad to hear you are getting good results with DMSO.

You posted that you mixed it with : "infused coconut oil".... I assume you mean a cannabis infused coconut oil. Is that correct?

Hi all. Am going to try to post my script bottle to see if we can figure out if this formula would be ok for me to use as treatment. I am allowed to get 30 days worth at a time, in 3 different preps. I think I posted a link to the dispensary yesterday, but will post the 3 options again so you get the whole picture.

It's me again. If I really knew how to use the PC well, I'd be dangerous! I don't want my name to show...ok, well I'm going to delete this post in about 15 minutes. There are two pics if you click my name for each.

Kingston, will check out the "starters" link you provided. Thank you.
:thanks:

.........complications of which killed my father, at 90.

Indeedy, no shite, Omega 6, Hmmmm... Interesting..... THX. :ciao:

I already knew that Omega 6 increases inflammation. It's the main reason I rarely eat farm-raised tilapia because unlike other fish which are high in Omega 3, tilapia is actually higher in Omega 6 as is catfish but they're too ugly to eat anyways. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Here's an article about it:

I am so lost! Just getting back to here was a trip! And not the fun kind!

:welcome:merryali! I understand about feeling lost. Some of the most interesting posts on 420 magazine seem to be hundreds of pages long and it's always a challenge to try and figure out how far back to go or to just jump in and participate. I hope you get it figured out without too much angst. And, if it is giving you angst, I highly recommend getting high with an indica. ;)

:hugs: morning SweetSue
:hugs: morning world

Good morning (?), Birdie. It's evening here now. No idea what time you're at or even what day but I'm sure it will be morning again for you sooner than me. :high-five:

I'm only a couple of months old here. As lost as could be. I'm on my way a bit now thanks to everyone here.

Just keep experimenting and asking questions. And asking. And asking some more :laughtwo:

Getting frustrated and lost will probably happen a time or two (or ten).

Everyone here has the patience of a saint and the collective knowledge of [Marijuana] encyclopedia.

I hope you get everything you need!

Ok, so.

CBD oil.

I started a few days ago. I've been a bit traumatized and also nervous about being optimistic (I know, SweetSue, I know) so I haven't touched base with you guys or even my practitioner yet. I wanted to wait until I had been on this a few days so I didn't have conflicting thoughts every few hours.

Honestly? So far, so good. This feels like what I've been waiting for.

I'm soothed but not knocked out. There is NOTHING weird about the assimilation. The new Hemp I was using was already better. I really have no complaints about it. But this CBD oil gives me warm fuzzies. What I'm guessing NORMAL HUMANS experience when they drink some alcohol.

I diluted it 10x, just because I wanted to see what it's like. I am taking a single drop every few hours. I had gone several hours between drops yesterday and started to develop anxiety. I took a drop and within minutes the anxiety was gone. And I felt good enough to stay on my feet as I took it.

This "batch" will last me a few days or maybe a week. The next one I will dilute 5x. I'll work my way up and up as much as I can tolerate, so then I can start adding tiny amounts of my old formula in. My practitioner recommended 80% of my CBD oil and 20% of the 1:1. I will start out with less :)

Nothing mentally so far - as in, I don't notice that I'm happier or gigglier or anything. But if I can consistently keep anxiety at bay, that can only improve other things.

The next note was my menstrual cycle. Easy Peasy in general. No real pain, no real trauma. I didn't take any extra oil to deal with pain, because there hardly was any. I was able to move throughout. I even went out! We went shopping and to lunch. Trust me - it's been years since I was able to do that comfortably. So, I think that either the 1:1 I was taking for even that short time, or that and the hemp cumulatively, have already helped my body deal tremendously.

Hi merryali,

The 50/50 THC/CBD mix at that dose is probably a good place to start. With the THC is so easy to know when you are at a good place. CBD is not going to give you much of a signal as to how much to take. After a while you will learn to recognize some subtle changes when taking it. With the balanced mix you will know you are getting as much CBD as THC.

Having said that, it is a rather small dose. He is only prescribing 6.9mg of THC and 6.1mg of CBD on a per day basses. Eatables are usually dosed at 10 or 15mg per dose. Capsules and tinctures can be about any strength, though they tend to start at around 10mg.

Past experiences with cannabis will dictate how caucus you should be with dosing. If it is all new, I would start with two drops and see where it takes you. Otherwise five drops sounds good.

The web site does not have much info about their products other than what they are used for.

Another thing you should probably do is check out the BC thread Sue posted.

Go for it girl.
Best

what the HELL happened NOW??? LOST again! Thanks to those who posted, but damn it! I am more confused than ever. Must be me......I think I'm still sane.....maybe!
