SweetLeef's Gone Muy Loco! Tijuana EbbnFlow - 4 Autos in Supersoil

Hey Sweet :) Im with AG on this, it cant be overwatering in my opinion. Your PH is a little high me thinks shouldn't it be at 5.7/8 for hydro??? This change in PH from when your friend had it and the shock of transplant may be it?
Wish I could aid more, yet your going through all this before I go E&F so its invaluable info for me! Your in excellent hands with AG :) :)
Hope she pulls through and your problems subside! Best of buds! :)

When I set the res a week ago, it was around 5.5. Over the course of the week it worked it's way up to 6. But my buddy keeps his clones at 6-6.5, So my res being around 6 shouldn't have shocked it, it should have been about the same right?

Woke up a little later than I wanted to, so will most likely not get pics this morning, but definitely tonight.

with water growing, sweetleef,ph pens are worth their weight in gold, calibrate often
only people I know that don't use pens?? well they have been growing over 35 years, and have their system down pat. Russian roulette playing in the water with no pen, test strips and solution's aren't close enough

are you on city water or a well?? if city you can get ahold of your county extension and get a read-out of whats in the water supply--if its well, then you have to take them a sample to test

veg-5.6 flower 5.8 (for hydro)

good luck man, everything else is coming along, nicely

Best wishes for the little one! I wish I had any experience here as I immediately thought overwatering as a dirt guy and totally agreed with your plan of attack. I have to learn so much about other forms of growing!

Glad the other girls are doing great. Love the pic of the tea bubbling!

Take care,
Bob ;)

ok I don't know what to say about whats going on with your clone I clone in un phed tap water
I may add 10ml of pro grow or 10 ml of hormex in the water depending if I see any rooting yet or not
my tap is about 7ph
if I do throw it in hydro its going in anywhere from 6.2-5.8 im happy in veg if its 6.2 I have no worry with it
but itll do just as well where it should be at 5.8
I don't have any issues from going 7.0 to 6.2-5.8 in hydro its still in the water only thing changed is the ph but as I said I never had any issue with that

just my thoughts there Sweet

Hey sweetleaf,
Took me a bit to get around here and your journal is cookin' right along. I googled the ZHO and Mycogrow. Cool products, boy are there a lot of options to get the same things done! The tea looks great, your super soil plants should love it! I notice my plants growing hard and looking really good the next night after they get a good tea/watering.

If u ever get aholda some fresh worm castings those are awesome in your teas also.

Your Obama plant looks to me like its gonna pull through, the bottom sets of leaves might die off but it does look like its coming back!

Yup. I get that. I am using the old fashioned, take a sample of the water, add some drops of green shit an compare the color to the chart. I don't like it. But it's what I have to work with at the moment. I am hoping to be able to pick up a 6 in 1 meter next month, but I am going on a family trip to Mexico next week, so it may be tough to accomplish, but I'ma try! If I cant make the 6 in 1 happen, I will pick up a cheap ph pen until I can.

Thanks Doc!

Yes there really is a lot to learn, and I DEFINITELY have a long way to go. Its amazing how something can be so simple and difficult at the same time! If it weren't I suppose everybody would grow this stuff ;) We'll get it figured out!

Yeah it's weird. All signs point to a PH problem. I am struggling though, with wrapping my brain around how something can go from ph at a 6 into something with ph at a 6 and then start to show problems. I am hoping, and I think, that she's gonna pull through. I actually have a new thought on the problem with Mrs. Obama that I will post a little lower in this post.

Thanks, CO!

The shear number of way that you can go about growing this plant is mind boggling. It's why it's so confusing for beginners. One guy tells you "Do it like this", and another guy is like "No, that's bullshit, that'll never work. Do it like this." And then another guy is like "They said what? No no no, like this." It can be confusing to say the least. But the other side of that coin, is, there are SO many right ways to do it!

I think she's gonna pull through, also! I am sure she is going to lose all of her large leaves, and here is my thought on that....

The way she is in her small pot in the bucket, she floats a little while it's flooding, and her large heavy leaves are dangling in the water. I think the leaves in the water may have been causing the leaves to curl up and make her sad? Could the stress cause the wrinkling of the little leaves? I am just guessing here, but her small leaves, while wrinkly, and much perkier than her big leaves, and covered by her big leaves pre-mid curl, making the plant seem as if it was all droopy, when it may have only been the large leaves? Grasping at straws here folks :laughtwo:

Boy am I glad that I have these autos doing so well and a buddy with pleanty of potential clones to back me up or this would seem soo mmh ore dire. I would like too thank my lucky stars that I am so fortunate to be set up in such a way that even if I fail, I can get right back up and try again. :thankyou:

Great idea on the cause! I don't like it when my leaves hang in the water, kinda a CFL issue to me much of the time since they grow so tight. I find it does do harm to the leaves and now I like to let a little stretch go in my seedlings just to get them up over the pot, then try to tighten things up after that. Yet again another guy with an opinion!

On the easy to get started but difficult to master, I agree. Lots of depth to enjoy in the hobby without burning yourself out by doing the same thing over and over. Kinda like golf or so I hear. And people always argue for their own methods, I think it is cathartic for them. This is the same on all hobby forums like this where everyone argues over the best method. Go onto an aquarium forum sometime and ask how many gallons are needed to support one fish and watch the flames fly. Everyone on here is incredibly nice about it at least and just offer opinions. Hey, around here hydro and dirt folks hang together, defoliators and leaf lovers vape together, and autos and photos bask under the same LED.
"and I said to myself...what a wonderful world"

Bob ;)

Great post Dr. Bob!!! It reminded me of the tropical fish sites I used to frequent... how right you are!!! ONE INCH OF FISH PER GALLON!!! :adore: :blunt:

Yep it is one of those static rules that people make up that in the end doesn't mean much. Some fish I wouldn't ever put an inch per gallon because it would be brown in 24 hours and some I would put twice that. Depends on the environment and strain of fish. Now where have we heard that before. :scratchinghead: Just like in our gardens for sure.

Hey friends,

It's been a busy week, but I plan on doing an update tonight!

Obama is on the mend, hobbit is moving slowly, and the soil girls are getting big! looking pretty good.

More later!

Sorry everybody!

I have finally got that update!

Let's start with a look at Michelle Obama over the last few days or so.....

Improving a little every day. I slowly over the past few day have removed her large curled leaves. I think that she is looking much better. We may see new growth in the next few days! Here is what she is looking like tonight.

Rosie is getting bigger, but slower than I expected in hydro. I think it's about time to up the nutes. Her mutation is weird, but looks like the next node is starting to normalize a little.

Not a whole lot to say about Princess Savina and Lindy Berger. They are happy as can be doing their thing in soil. I think they will be decent sized girls.

I am watering them tonight. There first real watering since they moved into the large pots. :)

After watering I will begin brewing another batch of tea. It will be ready to feed them right before I leave for Mexico on Wednesday :goof:

I have never been to Mexico and I am SO excited! A cook buddy who works at the restaurant next to mine was just in Tulum, where I will be. He said he had an ounce of weed in is hand in about 10 minutes on the beach. Surly it will not be the quality that I am used to, but it will be plentiful and cheap!

I am quite confident that the plants will be just fine and while I know I will desperately miss them, I am so excited to see what they look like after 7 days of not seeing them.

Lots to do between now and Wednesday!

I will attempt another update before I leave.

OH! I almost forgot.

I was at a friends house today. His wife sells secondhand items on fleabay. Most things she picks up at the goodwill bins. We got to talking about my new venture and she's like I may need this back someday, but I don't really know what it does, but it might be useful to you. She goes into her garage and bring out an absolutely BEAUTIFUL Complete Greenhouse Controller
CGC-1e.jpg

I don't know if it works yet. I really want to try it out, but I will wait until I get back. I would hate to have this thing fail while I was away and unable to do anything about it.

It appears to be in perfect condition. Not a scratch on it. But it was bought at the bins for less than $5. It's a $300 unit. There could be something very wrong with this unit. It could also be perfectly fine. That's what I am hoping for, but I must be skeptical!

I am also debating on weather to fire up the LED before I leave or upon arrival at home. Cant decide.

That's the update today. Everything is still trucking along! Hope your word is green and wondrous :)

Hello my Sweet! Michelle is looking SO MUCH better!!! I'm surprised at Rosie's size. I would have guessed she would be a bit bigger than the others in soil too. Mexico is so close! :circle-of-love:

VACATION !!!! That's is all me and the better half are talking about, going some place, any place, Mexico sure sounds good !!!
I would wait on the LED.. I just wouldn't change much before you go. What are you going to do for watering? I have vacation in May and am wondering on watering. I have no one I can let in to water and will be going for 10 days. I am still researching.

Have an excellent vacation ! :surf::rasta::yahoo:

positive vibes to your little rockwool baby's, I hope that controller works, its a steal

on the Mexico front, we take 2-3 trips a year down there, my only advise(if you leave resort) always have bribe money in the back of your wallet, and don't ever say "bribe",, say officer I'm not from here, is there anyway I can take care of this now???

I got caught twice so far, with a little stash, each time it cost me a "Benjamin" and away I went

for the love of god---don't drink the water- oh, some of the resorts have no toilet paper flushing, and they are not kidding, I flooded a room and they were not happy lmao

have fun, stay safe, take lots of pictures

Great update and good news with the first lady. Good to see her getting back up on her feet. I also would have expected bigger growth from Rosie, interesting.

Awesome find on the controller. Those are the things that make one smile. Sure hope it works when you get a chance to try it out.

Have a great time in Mexico. Be careful, spent my youth traveling there all over and I love it, but always be aware of your surroundings as they say.

:circle-of-love: Bob ;)

Thanks MsBadger!,

The soil girls are small enough and their pots are big enough that 10 days wont be a problem, plus my nephew will be around checking on the girls so they'll be fine.

As for your vacation... How often do you water? Could you put them in larger pots and give a good hard watering before you leave? I would think they'd be fine. You could also set up a reservoir pumping water to a mister that will mist your media once a day. If you get a digital timer, you can set the as low as 1 minute. You have a few weeks you could test it out. It would be cheap and easy to build too! Just a couple of thoughts. Don't know if they would work for you or not. Just throwing it out there. :)

I think Rosies growth was slowed by her mutatuion. Only 2/3's of one fan leaf opened, the other side didn't open at all. So I think it was limited in the amount of light it could photosynthesize. The new node is looking normal though, so she should catch up. That's my guess anyway.

I am looking forward to playing with the controller. Hope it works!

Not many plans while in Mexico. Mostly drinking in a hammock and on the beach. Check out the ruins and a couple of cenotes, but mostly cold chillin!

Nice update Sweetleef! :thumb:

Thanks Pinky! Nice to see ya! :high-five:

Funny, I had lots of mutations on autos early on in their growth vs photos, even fem photos. They can be a tad worrisome at times but they always seem to pull nicely as long as they are minimally messed with. I bet in 10 days she will look totally different.

We need a 420 mag vacation system. We all just setup web cams and remote watering systems that would be connected via our anonymous accounts to our gardens. Then we could trust on of our friends on 420 to go to our garden virtually, see the temp, ph, and the condition of the plants, and choose to water or water/fert etc. You get it, never happen of course, but I would much rather have a system something like that with 420 folk than invite most people into my garden and trust them to not drown them (at best). Hmmm, we need someone that knows this computer doowacky stuff and can make millions.

Enjoy chilling in Mexico. It will be awesome.
Bob ;)
