SweetLeef's Gone Muy Loco! Tijuana EbbnFlow - 4 Autos in Supersoil

Nice update Sweet!

>>>but slower than I expected in hydro. I think it's about time to up the nutes.

Careful with your next steps here. Growth will start to take off once vegetative growth has fully commenced. To fully experience the faster growth of this E&F setup, I would definitely recommend transplanting often. If you read the Capn's Simple Hydro thread, it's explained that frequent transplants builds a healthy root mass, as roots tend to grow down to the full length of the pot, before utilizing all that lateral space. Secondly, I would reevaluate stepping up the feed. In a system were nutrient solution is being washed over the roots one or more times a day benefit more from underfeeding than over feeding. I really suggest that you purchase a cheap 12$ PPM meter for now, you're going to need it;)

I know I can't wait!

Thanks MsBadger!,

The soil girls are small enough and their pots are big enough that 10 days wont be a problem, plus my nephew will be around checking on the girls so they'll be fine.

As for your vacation... How often do you water? Could you put them in larger pots and give a good hard watering before you leave? I would think they'd be fine. You could also set up a reservoir pumping water to a mister that will mist your media once a day. If you get a digital timer, you can set the as low as 1 minute. You have a few weeks you could test it out. It would be cheap and easy to build too! Just a couple of thoughts. Don't know if they would work for you or not. Just throwing it out there. :)

Thanks for the tips and advise! I will heed your word! :rasta:

I think Rosies growth was slowed by her mutatuion. Only 2/3's of one fan leaf opened, the other side didn't open at all. So I think it was limited in the amount of light it could photosynthesize. The new node is looking normal though, so she should catch up. That's my guess anyway.

I am looking forward to playing with the controller. Hope it works!

Not many plans while in Mexico. Mostly drinking in a hammock and on the beach. Check out the ruins and a couple of cenotes, but mostly cold chillin!

Thanks Pinky! Nice to see ya! :high-five:

Thanks SweetLeef ! I am looking into your suggestions, great ideas !

Happy Vacation !!!! :surf: :yahoo::ciao:

Funny, I had lots of mutations on autos early on in their growth vs photos, even fem photos. They can be a tad worrisome at times but they always seem to pull nicely as long as they are minimally messed with. I bet in 10 days she will look totally different.

We need a 420 mag vacation system. We all just setup web cams and remote watering systems that would be connected via our anonymous accounts to our gardens. Then we could trust on of our friends on 420 to go to our garden virtually, see the temp, ph, and the condition of the plants, and choose to water or water/fert etc. You get it, never happen of course, but I would much rather have a system something like that with 420 folk than invite most people into my garden and trust them to not drown them (at best). Hmmm, we need someone that knows this computer doowacky stuff and can make millions.

Enjoy chilling in Mexico. It will be awesome.
Bob ;)

I wish I could remember the thread... When I joined this forum I came across a discussion about some powerstrips or outlet extensions or something that you can control with an app on your phone. Mix that with a camera you can also assess from your phone, and you can control your fans and lights as well as look in on your plants. Having a complete system you can control from your phone may be a while off, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone made it happen. Being able to adjust ph or nute program while your thousands of miles away would be awesome. How cool would it be to have a stealth gro op in a building in the middle of nowhere that you only have to go to for harvesting and planting.

Great Update There Sweet :high-five:

Thanks Chronic! Hope all is well with you.

Because I am doing an auto, I will still do multiple transplants, but not as often as I would with a photo plant. So the auto is stepping into a little bit larger pots I think three times total. Where the photo will transplant 5 or 6 times I think. Due to Obama's start, she wont transplant until I get back, and I think the auto will also transplant shortly after my return.

I stepped up the feed last night, and they are both a little bigger. We are at 3/4 strength nutes now, and it would seem they loved it. Got a second batch of tea running.

I've got the cheap PPM meter. I use it, It's cool. I am really looking forward to getting the 6 in 1 and having all of the information in front of me.

Thanks for the suggestions and advise. I would have probably followed your word, if I hadn't up the feed already ;) Hope all is well with you AG, cant wait for your next journal!

Thanks, MsBadger! Hope you find something that works for you. :goodluck:

Great suggestions AfricanGrower! Awesome Update Sweetleef! :bravo:

Hey Sweetleef, Here's another information type of thing:
Turn Your Smart Phone Into a Home Security System

I currently have a home surveillance system that is wifi and I can connect and watch my home and interior cameras anywhere and anytime from my cell phone/tablet/pc.
It's very comforting and a grrrreat tool. The service I use online is free for the basic version too.

Yep, all the tech for this already exists out there. I have a friend with a totally remote control house, power, lights, doors, watering systems etc. EVERYTHING. He can check environment, power consumption, water usage, a ridiculous number of things all from his phone. Just needs to be interfaced via an external site so that it becomes easy to setup for non engineers (he is one of great prowess).

Have a great vacation.
Bob ;)

Thanks Everybody!!!

I'm back!

Lots of catching up to do and a lot to do in the tent! Everything is great, though. No problem work, just the best kind of work:) Update tonight after I get everything done!!

Hey everybody!

Got a lot done in the tent yesterday.

Started the day off by removing the fluorescent and firing up the LED.

Cleaned everything and changed the res. Nutes are at full strength according to the Lucas method. 7 grams per US gallon of maxibloom powder. The ladies seem to be loving it.

Ran to the store to pick up some Diatomaceous Earth because there were quite a few fungus gnats in the tent. That stuff is messy. I need to get some sand or something to put on top of it

Transplanted Obama into a slightly larger pot. I would like her to get a little closer to root bound this time before moving her to the next pot. That being said, Obama does have some pretty roots already.

Since Rosie is transplanting less, she will wait until Obama's next transplant before getting the switch.

Obama does have a little powdery mildew. But I think I caught it early enough to successfully combat it. I'm not worried about the autos as they are very resistant, still all the girls got a heavy spraying with ultimate wash. I will alternate this with a h202 spray. We'll see. I should have had the extraction fan on earlier, but it makes out hard to hear the laptop and I didn't want my nephew getting noise complaints while I was away. So here we are. :)

Alright. It's picture time!

Let's start with Obama here are those roots

Rosie has really taken off

Check this out, Rosie seems to have fallen over a little bit due to the growth, but it made this happen

I call it the Autoflower-Mini-Flux-Sorta. It's not a "flux" but it is a nice homage.

Savina is short and bushy and quite smurftastic!

Lindy Burger has really shot up. While the other girls are starting to show sex hairs, Lindy had made it clear she's a woman and she means business!

The third batch of tea will begin brewing tonight. I will be doing a smaller batch and skipping the soil girls so I can give them a proper watering in a couple days

Well that's it for now. A very successful week away from the goils. I will attempt to get caught up on journals. Although I've got a long way to go. Yikes : goof:

Great update. Lindy is looking quite the proper lady now! I hate being away from my garden but I have been gone for a few days. Seeing yours all happy makes me confident in what I will find back home.

Good to see you Sweet!
Bob ;)

Great update Sweet, glad everything worked out while you were away. I always get timid when I go on my monthly business trips, leaving the girls for days at a time, so props to you for not pulling all your hair out while in Mehico! :hippy:

Could not help but notice you said:

>>>I will alternate this with a h202 spray.

...and:

>>>tea will begin brewing tonight.

Not to cause alarm, but you MUST always decide whether your hydro environment will be sterile or living! From what you said, you will be using the H2O2 as a spray to try and counteract the PM, yes?

This will accomplish the task of killing all living microorganisms in your environment...that means the mycorrhizae colony that you have been building will more than likely be killed. Not too much of a bad thing in soil, but when working with hydro (and no chiller fo that matter) that leaves the leaves the reservoir and the rootzone prone to anaerobic bacteria.

I know you probably know this from reading the Capn's Live or Sterile Thread, but I couldn't risk the info not being said.

If I were to take 1 thing away from this, it would be to NEVER mix sterile and live conditions in the same environment :high-five:

Please elaborate if I am completely mistaken of your intentions :laughtwo:

Thanks Bob! I love Mexico, but it's good to be home. I'm really in awe of how well the girls did while I was away.

Michelle is really looking good, and Lindy isn't messin' around, is she! Glad you're back. I missed you!

Missed you too Sis!!! We gotta get you to Mexico. Amazing place!

You are not mistaken. I figured the h2o2 would like kill the benies, but I also figured if I lined it up to be just before a res change and new benies are introduced it would be fine

Maybe I have missed a big piece, but I thought the reason we add tea regularly was because the benies die off and you need to replenish them. Also, I clean every piece of the setup once a week when I change the res. Should I not be doing this?

Wow it gets so technical over here for sure! :) ill be reading this from start to end as well as a good few other journals soon, like AG's Capn:s etc. Thanks Sweet and 420 family :)

It sure does LA :) I still don't understand half of it :goof: You will get much more from AG and theCapn than you will from mine, but stay with me. I will need your guidance as I am going to begin training Obama in the next day or two. I am thinking a super cropping at the bottom to make her lay down, across the top of the pot. Like Minty from my last journal. I want her to be huge and full of colas. WIth 2 and a half months before the flip and a firm training hand, I think we can make a huge huge plant!

Look out for my new journal this July LA ;)

Please feel free to post a link and invite on this journal! I can't wait to see what you are going to come up with next.

Nice Update Sweet Things are looking good :thumb:

Thanks Chronic! Glad be back in the tent! I've got a lot to catch up on!

In a way it's great to leave the garden (as long as everthing is being taken care of somehow)
Coming home and checking out all the new growth is awesome! I'm sure like me, Sometimes you look at the plants every single day, so it's hard to see them growing without looking back at pics. Ill be gone for 2wks soon and it's a little nerve wracking to think about. This time with the perpetual ill have vegging plants, flowering plants, finishing plants, tea brewing, teas and watering applications for my plant sitter to handle.

Gotta take trips though, life's to short to not do at least some of the fun stuff u want to.
