Update TIme Y'All!
The three girls in my lair at the moment have all been named.
Smurfberry, shall be named after the king's niece from the tv show, The Smurfs. Please say hello to.....
Princess Savina
Auto Pounder With Cheese: The name was a suggestion from my sis. I think it's funny. Please give a warm welcome to.......
Lindy Berger
The Hobbit: Named after the love of Samwise Gamgee. Please meet and get to know.....
Rosie Cotton
Savina and Lindy have been transplanted into their final homes. 5gallon smart pots with TGA Super Soil. I didn't have enough soil to fill both pots, so they are both at about 4 gallons. So, my next round will have the true 5 gallon pots. Oh well.
Anyway, I think the transplant went smoothly. Princess Savina started showing a phosphorus deficiency just like Steph and Dawnie did in my first grow. That's how I knew it was time to go. Otherwise I would have let them get just a tad more root bound.
I think I will give my dirty girls compost tea as well. I hadn't thought about it before but since I'll be brewing and feeding to the hydro girls, why wouldn't I give it to the soil girls, too? Make it super-duper soil. Especially as the plants get bigger.
Now, onto Rosie.
It took me longer to get everything set up and rolling, but Rosie is Flowing right now and should Ebb in a few minutes. When I got it all set up and went to bed I didn't realize I had set up my timer the wrong way.
It's a mechanical timer that has 20minute intervals. I went to bed thinking I had set the timer to run the flow for 20minutes every two hours. In fact, I set the timer to shut the water off for 20 minute eveery two hours. So Rosie got one hell of an introduction to the EnF system
Skybound, I don't think asphyxiation is too big of a concern. The rockwool holds onto a lot of o2. I'm glad it had those 20minute breaks, because I think it would be a different story in that case, but she got a lot of water for a long time and seems no worse for the ware.
She seems fine though, she doesn't look over watered or droopy. I also upped the nutes to a full 1/4 dose. I was feeding her 130ppm which is less than 1/4 of the maxibloom powder. Even with the increased nutes, she's looking good so far
Here is a pic of her in action
Here is a closer look at the drain hole. The way the tube is in the res, it causes backpressure or something and the tube starts jerking and then there is this constant gurgling sound that is too loud to try and sleep next to. I took a little air hose and stuck it in there, always allowing the tube to breath and having the air come from above the water level eliminated the gurgling.
A few more tweaks no doubt, but the system is now running pretty much the way I want it to. Hoping to go grab my Obama Kush plant tomorrow if she's ready.
That's all for today. Hope all is great green and frosty in your worlds
