Stunger Tries Trough Growing And Attempts Fluxing On His Organic Living Soil Balcony

Update - The end is nigh for the Mulanje Sherbert

Greetings 420 enthusiasts!

This year's Mulanje Sherbert is now 6 months old and 2 weeks past the final harvest point of last year's Mulanje Sherbert. So she is understandably looking a bit tired and bashed from her frequent encounters with the wind, rain and insects.

I have let her go further than last year's as she is managing her age better, maybe the trough has helped provide her a more stable root environment, perhaps.

Looking at these latest trichome closeups, there does seem to be some progress from clear to cloudy over the pics taken a week earlier here, the latest pics appear to show an increase of cloudy but very few amber can be seen.

I will most likely give her the chop either during the coming week or next weekend. I am interested in what difference I can notice in her effects when compared to last year's earlier harvested full sister plant.

Thanks for dropping by! I hope your weekend is going great and your gardens too!

Looks like you've got winner there @Stunger . Well, more than one, actually. Your plant is bringing it home in style it looks like and your trough looks like a keeper! :thumb:
Thanks Azi! The trough is a keeper thank god, as it'd be a PITA to disassemble it. If I'd change anything it would be to make the aeration layer in the middle even thicker than it is (after Gee was talking about the importance of drawing Oxygen in).

What a fine, dark and mysterious specimen she is, Stunger! :thumb:

Update - 24 hours after the plant switch

Greetings 420 enthusiasts! The switch appears to have gone well. The sun is beating down on the balcony. I just gave them a foliar feed of Fish Hydrolysate, Kelp (Seasol) and a dash of Humid/Fulvic acids, and poured the remainder into the mulch around them. There is rain forecast tomorrow night, so they'll have enough for now.

The trough lady lineup!

Thanks for dropping by! :ganjamon:
Can't tell much in regards of the males, I usually don't grow them, but the plant is in good hands, happy and greeny :)

Thanks GNY! Altho that was over 4 months ago. The male was chopped 3 months ago but not before it provided pollen that has made seeds with the Frozen Black Cherry and the Super Lemon Haze (I began de-seeding the seed harvest yesterday). Only 1 plant remains in the trough now and it too will be chopped very soon.

Update - Harvest day for the Mulanje Sherbert

Greetings 420 enthusiasts!

Today I chopped the last trough plant left standing, the Mulanje Sherbert.

When compared to her full sister that I grew last year, this plant has finished stronger and continued flowering for 3 additional weeks. Last year's Mulanje Sherbert started to lose limbs in late flowering, one by one a limb would go necrotic at the branch juncture and die off. Then the next one and so on, at final harvest day of May 20th, only 4 limbs remained. This year's Mulanje Sherbert was harvested today/8th June, almost 3 weeks later without any necrotic limb loss occurring.

This year's plant has shown comparatively more vigor, perhaps from the trough environment? But now is beginning to look tired. And I am expectant/excited in regard to what difference an additional 3 weeks of flowering will give to the effects of her buds.

It may of course amount to nothing noticeable, or maybe it does, for better or for worse. I feel 3 weeks longer should make some sort of difference so I am really interested to test that out. I found last year's Mulanje Sherbert stunning. But if there is anything to the vigor/adversity helping with potency then this plant has made a good effort.

She turned a dark purple/black with cooler over night temperatures

Using a flash with the picture, can see there are some solid buds glistening under tatty deteriorating fans.

Last trough plant standing gets the chop

I gave the plant a good spraywash down by spraying off each and every limb under quite strong pressure and left it to hang dry, discretely I hope.

I wanted to use this last opportunity for some closeup pictures, but the day was dull and overcast and there just wasn't enough light to get in close, plus the buds were still wet from the spray wash and most pics as a consequence looked drowned.

Of trichomes, in general there are more cloudy to be seen than 2 weeks ago and I would say cloudy is now the majority but there are some amber showing also. But there are probably still more clear trichomes heads than amber trichome heads. So regardless of what trichome state or mix is best. This plant has done well and is ready for harvest. If another time I grow a plant that remains healthy and vigorous for even longer then yeah, why not, let it flower further and see. I am hoping there is something to vigor and adversity often having a potent effect.

Well, the first winter month is on us and that's my physical grow over.

I will next re-amend my trough soil, add some compost, and I may add some additional pumice and scoria for further aeration. Then some 'bird cover' to stop them making a mess looking for worms.

So far I pretty pleased with the trough. Although next grow I will go back to training for level canopies.

I am behind with everyone's gardening efforts. I hope to catch up real soon.

Thanks for dropping by! :ganjamon:

Congrats on the final takedown Stunger!

Looks like you'll have some primo weed to get you through your winter break! :Rasta:

Thanks GDB! Yes, I should have plenty of jarred reserves now and a nice choice too.
What a beauty.
Cheers Joe! She had a bit of weight to her too.
Congratulations on the harvest of your final plant this season, Stunger. What a grow.
Thanks Carmen! It's been a good grow over all.

I didn't think you could find something that dark and sexy outside of Atlanta, Georgia. :circle-of-love::p you really did a hellofa job with that trough setup.
