Stanks Go Perpetual In 2018!

So now that flowering is here will you lollipop that plant and get rid of a lot of that underbrush? Such a pretty auto. I have only the one strain of auto, the Train Wreck auto which I made all the fem seeds from last year. Granted I grow them in small pots (1 gal.) but they are WAY smaller then that girly monster. I am anxious to see how it stretches and how the buds stack up.

Well I am going to let it hopefully stretch a little bit first. Its so tight under there right now I can't hardly get the snips in there to cut anything. I figure I will just let her stretch and I will continue to pluck the random fan leaves until her stretch is over.

Then yes, I will clear some of the lower stuff.

Stankberry #1 Flip Day 15 (Day 7 with Hairs)

Here is the monster. I think she is finally slowing down on her stretch. She is still creeping towards the light but at least its a creep and not a sprint anymore. She is sitting about 9" below the light (manufacturer says you can run them as close as 6 inches) so I have a few more inches before I have to adjust the light. She is standing about 38" tall from the top of the pot.

She got a healthy dose of ACT on Thursday night and her deficiency seems to have subsided for now. The spotting on the bigger fan leaves seems to have stopped. I will continue to add Cal Mag and Silica to her ACT for a few more weeks. She will get top dressed again with some ground malted barley and EWC on her next watering cycle.

She is starting to get some interesting smells to her. I can't pinpoint the aroma but I like it!

The leaves have leaned towards the ATF side from the get go. But she doesn't smell like either plant yet. I am hoping she will yield like the ATF and take on the smell of the blueberry and will combine the pain relief effects of both! Hell who am I kidding....its just cool as shit to be growing out a homemade strain! Makes me want to drop some DTF seeds!

Ok I know I'm suuuuper late to the party, but with the new site I only get alerts for recently viewed post ok!

Would you run into any issues or deficiencies using regular dirt or regular bag soil? My dirt is riddled with earthworms but don't wanna wait a full run to use my old soil...

Ok back to reading the other pages! Great info in this journal guys :reading420magazine:

Hey Conradino, wondering where you got your info on Gypsum because I am thinking you might have it mixed up. Gypsum is a form of calcium sulfate dihydrate and essentially just Calcium, Sulfur and water at the molecular level. It doesn't affect the pH at all.

When I spoke of amending my soil with it, I was referring to buckets of the soil sitting around unused. Upon noticing the calcium deficiencies, I busted open my unused soil and I re-amended it with additional minerals and the gypsum, mixed it all up really well, made sure the soil was slightly damp and I covered the soil up to 'cook' and breakdown before I used it.

As for amending anything that was already growing.....no I didn't do that. For those, I just started treating with a little Cal Mag and a little Silica supplement in with my ACT and it got everyone looking much healthier.

I generally try to keep my Cal:Mag ratios at about 7:1. I think I had my ratios good....I just don't think I had enough Calcium in the soil. The Northern Lights and White Widow will be test plants with the re-amended soils. The soil the Northern Lights was transferred into had the Gypsum and minerals added to the soil about a month before I put her in it. Not as long as I would have liked...but its been breaking down for an additional 2 weeks with the plant in it. If I still see any of the spots I saw on the other plants, then I know I still have a calcium issue or I have something else that is the issue.

Here is a link of Gypsum if you want to read the breakdown of gypsum

Gypsum

You're right I mixed it up with epsom salts... dunno why. I never actually used gypsum. I usually use lithothamnium, which is a form of powdered alga.

If you got calcium and magnesium ratio right, then it's most likely low base saturation, which means you need to up the amount to get around 15-20% of total weight.

It's sth you can dial in for the next cycle for sure. Lowering potassium helps a lot to get it right.

This is one of the clones I mentioned earlier that I use to make seeds. It's home is an under the counter microwave oven box lined on the inside with one mylar blanket. The light is a 100 watt LED purchased off eBay for $33 and change with free shipping. It's sitting on an old table so I don't have to bend over to tend to it. It is right at 2 weeks into flowering and I've been spraying that one branch now for 20 days. I expect to start seeing female pollen sacks anytime now.

BTW: That Stankberry is a winner. What a nice plant. Now if you could only find a brother plant of this lady and he would volunteer to give up some pollen and you were to dab some here and there on the girl you would be a step closer to a stabilized new strain.

No worries brother. I figured you might have had it mixed up with Epsom when you were talking about the Mag. I just didn't want any other growers to get put off from using it in soil.

I think my ratios are pretty good, generally try to keep it around 7:1 or 8:1, just need to increase it a bit I think.

Happy Easter to you and yours Conradino!
