Sqwheels' Perpetual 2L Hempy + Moms

I'm going to chime in a little regarding the clawing you're having.. I get this on my super lemon haze every time I grow it, I have run it for about 5 generations now and every time I get the claw.. I had a ph issue where the ph was way too low and after a good flush, it straightened out a lot of the leaves. I thought it was getting too much N so I cut it back just a little and the older fans turned yellow and died off as they should but it seemed to be spreading faster than I would have liked at that stage, which would indicate a bit of a N deficiency.. I resumed normal feeding and the yellowing stopped, and the clawing hasn't gotten better or worse..

Still trying to figure it out. From all the plants I've grown, I've only had this on the SLH.. Quite odd.

Your wonder woman plants are looking great. I've been smoking on some myself lately, really good stuff. When I first got the strain, there were practically no grow reports or journals anywhere on the strain. It's good to see it's getting out there more, its resilient and amazing smoke/plant. I've abused mine so much and it has never thrown a male flower.. Mine were fem seeds too!

hey, regarding the curling "claw" effect of your leaves on your haze: i read today in Jorge Cervantes' "Bible" pg. 380 that Haze strains are "hypersensitive to fertilizer. Leaves curl when given a slight overdose."
idk if that resolves your issue at all with "the claw" but its somethin to look into

Hi T,

Not Haze... White Widow.

yeah thats typically the cause, I guess she's just a sensitive pheno or something because I have a hard time getting it perfect, but over time I'll get her down.. she still yields great and smokes even better.

CK&Treezzz,
Sorry guys I lost the thread of conversation for a sec...I think my claw problem is the same, nute sensitive. In the last few days I flushed her good and gave just water for a day, then just PK10/11, then a small dose of nutes. She seems to have responded well.

Some "phenos" ?? is that the same as strain? Are more sensitive and show this as "the claw" instead of tip burn. The Wonder Woman has just slight tip burn, but she's in promix and the White Widow is in perl/verm.

Thanks for looking :peace:

Sqwheels, it's like "strains" but "phenos" are the different characteristics that can be demonstrated within a particular strain. For example, a specific indica/sativa cross may produce seeds, some of which produce "phenos" with large, indica-looking leaves, while other seeds produce plants that are of a "phenotype" with long, sativa-looking leaves. Both plants would be of the same strain, just different phenotypes. I hope that helps!

Hi All :circle-of-love: It's that time again...

Ok, enough of the visuals, here's a few thoughts...
When defoliatiing last week I don't think I took enough off of the white widow and wonder woman, and maybe I went a little overboard today on the 3 clones. Not quite sure how much I'm suppose to remove. If you have a method to share, please do...

Hi Sqwheels - they're looking good! As far as defoliation - there are as many methods and beliefs as there are strains it seems. Some people are adamant that you shouldn't remove any fan leaves unless needed, but more and more people are going the other extreme and removing a lot of fan leaves. I believe 420fied and some others defoliate at 20 and 40 days, which is the program I'm following at the moment to see how well I like defoliating. I've always defoliated sparingly, but I'm just now experimenting with a bit more.

There really isn't a "right" answer to your question, though many people will swear by their chosen path. Hard to argue with the success 420fied has had with really heavy defoliation - and I would continue to emulate him if it were me as you are trying to grow in a style he has mastered really well.

I think Docbud put it something like this: Not defoliating may produce more overall bud growth on an outdoor plant, but on an indoor plant you will have more underdeveloped and not "prime" grade bud. Defoliating will give your primary buds and budsites much better light, and a heavier "usable" yield - which is much more practical indoors.

I'm sure the defoliating you did will be just fine!

:goodluck:!

Hi scratch,
ya, a pretty big pile all right, but that all came from 3 plants, and some of them were as big as my hand. I know the light will penetrate much better now. Hopefully they will get bigger buds now.

X,
thanks for the input, it seems to be the case with almost everything...each gardener has there favorite way of doing things. I agree 420fied has definately mastered his style...I hope I can do the same with a little experimentation :)

Did I mention I love growing???

The defoliation will definitely help those popcorn buds get better. I don't think you will regret it. We can tell you like growing.....

defoliation is a wonderful thing for the plants, it will make your buds swell much quicker, I do it all the time since my tent gets really crowded and have only seen good results from it. I take off about as much as you, pretty much every fan leaf coming from a main stem gets removed. A couple on the main cola I leave just if they're hard to get to

that original wonder woman is looking awesome. congratulations on your flowering progress :goodjob: keep up the good work! do you have any speculations on how long til you harvest? i just ordered 5 fem. white widow seeds from nirvana a couple days ago. i can't wait to get em started. i love growing too :)

Hi Treezzz,
Thanks for the kind words, I agree she looks pretty good, in spite of me. I may have to stake her soon, while watching today I noticed her colas are getting heavy and sway in the air now, I don't want her to fall over.

Harvest?? Good question. Today makes 30 days, I haven't looked to see what the recommended flower time is on any of the plants I've grown, I just watch the plant...so far I've only seen a few buds with red hairs and they seem to be getting bigger by the day, I haven't even looked at the trics close up but I can see them getting that moist/frosty look. I like to harvest when they are about 60/40 cloudy/amber...maybe 3-4 more weeks.

Good luck with those WW beans...watch out for nute sensitivity, all the WW I've grown have shown signs of the claw.

OG13, CK20,

Yep, I swear I could see them growing today. I just wondered how one decides which leaves to pinch and which ones to let alone. Like I said before I was a little sparing on the White Widow and original Wonder Woman last week, but I plan on doing it again @ 42 days, I'll take all of them at that time, I'm going to try to make shaker hash. And I think I'll end up harvesting shortly after that and it will cut down on trimming.

:thankyou: for looking in and helping out...much appreciated.

Hi Sqwheels! How does your garden grow? ;)

Hope you are well. I really stripped my ladies the other day, much like CrimsonK20 stated, pretty much anything with a stem, except for a few that aren't in the way of anything.

Hi All :) Another weekly update

35 days for the Widow and original Wonder Woman...She is so top heavy now, this morning when I opened the doors she had almost fallen over two of her colas were completely leaning on her sister, T and I have since staked and tied her, it ain't pretty but at least she won't fall over.
DSCN05494.JPG

these are a couple of the widow...she's got some yellow leaves towards the bottom, but I think that may be normal for this stage, overall she looks pretty good

They are super sticky now, my photos don't tell the tale. I can't hardly touch them, and they are sticking to each other too. :thumb:

I found a pollen pod on the widow earlier this week, I had been checking everyday up until about 27 days after that I thought I was safe, but no such luck. I only found one and I picked it off but it may be too late. I'm not killing her at this late stage, if I get seeds...so be it.

I checked trics today for the first time, they are about 10% amber. And they look totally different. The Widow's are shorter with thinner stems and big bulbs, the wonder woman's are nearly twice as tall and the stems are twice as thick with huge bulbs.

I need to figure out how to use macros on my camera, those trics are wild, I wish I could show them to you.

I've been sick all week with some stupid head cold that my son brought home, so I'm going to keep this short, I'll try to catch up on your journals soon.
