re: Sqwheels' Garden - Bonsai Style

Hey Sqwheels!

I wish I had more input, but with all the hydro experts around here...not to mention Corey, :adore: I just sit in the corner, play in my dirt, and shut-up! :grinjoint:

I'm sorry you're getting frustrated with posting pics. I haven't uploaded any recently, so I'm not sure if it's something others are experiencing. Did you try to PM 420 or 420 Girl? If it's something they know about, they'll let you know what's going on, and if it's something they don't know about, I'm sure they want to!

But whatever you do, please don't stop posting!

:ganjamon:

Hi Vape,

You go ahead and play in the dirt  but don't shut-up, you're a valuable source of information and experience and your input is always welcome. Don't worry, I'm a 420mag addict, I won't stop posting...yes 420Girl is trying to help me figure this out. and bigirishdoode said he was having similar issuses so ??? We'll see. Yesterdays update went pretty smooth.

I hope you're feeling better...I'm behind on my subs but I'll be around soon

:peace:

re: Sqwheels' Garden - Bonsai Style

did you try hitting "my pictures " and waiting a few min to click on the pic you want to post? that usually helps me but i have the same problem, tho not as bad as your having it...

Hi bid,

Yes, I tried it like you suggested...and yesterdays update went good. 420 Girl is trying to figure it out...I'm sure she will :) Great staff we have here.

re: Sqwheels' Garden - Bonsai Style

Hi Sqwheels!

Bummer on the pics, I just click the "my photos" button in the bottom left, and choose the picture I want, and "voila!" Haven't had any issues since I started posting them this way. Maybe it's a browser specific thing? The pics you did put up though look really good! Going to get stinky at Sqwheels's soon, with a whole lot of bloomin' going on. The fun stage is just beginning! :)

Hi X,

It used to work flawlessly for me as well. And it may be a browser thing. It didn't start happening until I started using mozilla. T told me a few weeks ago to stop using IE because of some issue...so I started using Mozilla. Now I'm trying Ggle chrome.

Yep, it already smells really good in there. And I should be seeing some frost in about a week. Oh ya, the adventure has just begun. I love to watch them grow... but in veg they don't change much from week to week...but in flower, they change daily :cheertwo: it's just so much fun to watch them.

Some of the nicest pics I have seen all day SQ :)

Thanks Corey, they do look pretty. And you and X were right...a good drench with diluted nute mix helped them a lot.

Just beautiful sqwheels. Mighty fine girls. You're doing them up just fine. Love how they look! Great pictures too!:bravo:

Hi guys...thank you so much for the kind words. :thankyou:

All of you...Corey, OMM, X, bid, vape, and so many others...you all have helped and encouraged me so much, it means a lot to me :Namaste:

Yep, you and Corey were right. I'm happy too...they look really good. I wish my photography skills would improve, some of those pics just don't tell the tale. I'm keeping an eye out for hermies now. You know...they can sneak in there, even when they are suppose to be female. I may have a light leak issue, but I'm sure it's not more than what moonlight might be. I'll post a pic...tell me what you think

I'm so excited to see something flowering in there...I just sat a starred at them for a long time yesterday.

We'll see if photos post again today...

This is my spare room in the dark. As you can see, light leaks...but because both doors are on the same wall...light doesn't bend, right? I made some tube shaped bean bags to block the gap at the bottom of the doors, which is where it was really bad.

Opinions...should I be more concerned about this?

Sqwheels, your plants are looking awesome, girl! :bravo:

I would definately be concerned about the light leaks.
Solution: Panda Film!

in my old closet i used strips of cardboard and duct tape to block the light leaks it helped quite a bit but panda film is prolly better!!
good work with the ladies:thumb:

Hi Sqwheels -

There is a fair chance that you wouldn't/won't have issues. But, some genetics are pretty sensitive to light leaks in flower and this is the one thing more than any that will trigger hermaphroditism in some strains/phenos of our beloved plant. Many are very resilient to minor light leaks, but why take that chance if you can help it? If it were me, I'd try to make it as light proof as I can. I guess I would not and do not chance it personally. What about something simple like a curtain/sheet/blanket hanging down over the doors?

re: Sqwheels' Garden - Bonsai Style

Hi Folks

I used to hang a dark sheet over the flower room doors when my son was occupying that room...but since he's moved out I don't hang that anymore...I can't take it down by myself. Panda film??? that's basically what is glued to the inside of both doors but it doesn't over hang the edges enough to block out all the light, that's what you see leaking thru...I'm trying to figure something else out to seal it better, but haven't come up with a good solution yet...that's why it still looks like this. I'm pretty sure the Wonder Woman will be just fine...she grew in there when my son was here and I got the other hermies...and remember those where seeds from a White Widow clone that came from the local dispensary that hermied...so I don't know if it was the light leak or just bad genetics.

I'd like to figure something more permanent out so I can just quit worrying about it.

Thanks guys for the input...and ideas. I'll find something to make it work

Hi Folks :ciao:

Time for another weekly update...I'm so pleased with how the girls are growing since I gave away the Northern Lights x Big Bud last week, the 3 plants left are getting much better penetration. They all got a dose of molasses with
:thumb: heir second feeding of flowering nutes and seem to have really loved it...lots of sugar showing now. And today, I got my order from Corey, so this week they'll get some BPN Vita Blue and Liquid Seaweed.

These pics of Wonder Woman where taken Friday...20 days 12/12, and 13 days since first signs of flowers. Time to defol...here's a few pics

I think things are looking good...but I did find a couple of gnats in there this weekend. I'm not sure where they are coming from. I opened a new hot shot no pest thing and moved the old one (just one month old) to the smaller veg room. I sprayed again with home defense max, and
I also opened my last sticky strip. Caught 2 gnats on that overnight on Saturday. I can't find any bugs (crawlers) on the girls anywhere...even in all the leaves I pulled I didn't see anything. There are no new signs of infestation like the shiny silver stuff on the leave like I saw before. I'm not sure what to think. I can't spray SNS203 now that they are in flower, but I can and will treat with SNS209 as a drench. I can spray with Mighty Wash while flowering but would prefer not to if I don't have to. I'll be watching close for any sign of a bigger problem.

Thanks for looking, hope you enjoy

Thanks Corey...I'm really having fun now. I just love to watch them flower. I can see the tric increase almost on a daily basis. If you could see the grin on my face...it almost hurts

re: Sqwheels' Garden - Bonsai Style

Hi Sqwheels -

Try putting mosquito dunks in with your water, then water your plants or mix up your nutes with this mosquito dunk water. I keep them in a clean sock on a thin nylon rope that dangles it into my water reservoir all the time. There are no harmful chemicals in dunks, they don't affect ph or your feed mix, and they are completely safe for people and pets. They will fix your fungus gnat issue, best of all!

If it were me, aside from what you are already doing and have already done, thats all else I'd do at this point about it, personally.

Looking really good - snow's a comin'! :yahoo:

re: Sqwheels' Garden - Bonsai Style

Hi X,

Thanks for the idea...will do. You know I mix my water one gallon at a time. Is there a max/min formula to these? I've never seen one. How do they work?

Ya, snow's coming in more ways than one...this AM, 33 degrees...24 windchill, outer skirts of Sandy pushing moisture into MI, my deck is covered with a sleet/snow mix right now. Brrrr!!! I hate the cold.

The other kind of snow is always welcome...the more the better. :yahoo:

Only thing I can think of that would work - but not sure how it would work for you - would be to get a larger container that you put water in first, like a rubbermaid bin of some sort, either a trash bin or a tote, etc., which could also serve to gas off any chlorine that you might have in your water. I realize that might be easier said than done for you, not sure. I filter my water through a small RO unit, so it works great for me to keep a clean reservoir with filtered water that I pull from as needed. I use a 35 gallon rubbermaid trash bin that has been cleaned. This is where I have a dunk in a clean sock that dangles into the reservoir. I keep a lid on it most of the time to avoid contaminating it, but that's how it works for me. Maybe this can give you an idea.

One goes a long way, (way more than enough for a 55 gal reservoir I'm sure) so you could also go the route of breaking them into smaller pieces and pre-filling smaller containers or buckets with a piece of one in them. Maybe just 3 or 5 gallon buckets or even 1 gallon containers pre-filled with water. Since you are hand watering, I see no reason to do a sock like I do, which is only to limit the chunks for my pumps/hydro system when I use the water for my nutrient reservoirs.

Just a couple of thoughts... Hope they spur an idea. Mosquito dunks are known to be effective to wipe out fungus gnats. Might not be immediate, but with your other measures should help do the job I'd think. :goodluck:

They way I'd use the Panda film is to hang it from the wall in three sections. Two of the sections on each side of the closet (on the inside) with about a 2'-3' gap in the middle (wide enough for you to get in), then, hang about a 3'-4' section to cover the gap. When you need to get in, you should be able to simply push the middle section aside like a curtain. It's probably not ideal for a permanent solution, but it should work and last for quite some time.

As a tip, if you put some duct tape along the edges of the panda film you can staple or nail it into the wall without the panda film ripping from the weight.
