Spimps NLxBB Auto Micro CFL's 2013

sugar leaf or sweat leaf are just the leaves poking out the buds, the fan leaves have the long stems and very little trichs falling on them, but the sugar leaf is what is growing out of the buds and is always covered in trichs, its what is used to make hash or any other extraction method,

when you trim the buds you usually cut the sugar leaf off as close to the bud as possible then you collect all these leaves until you got enough to make hash or butter or what ever else you want to do with it.

basically anything that has trichomes on them which is anything that looks frosty are worth keeping so you can then save them up and use them to make something with, some growers leave them on the buds and smoke them with the bud but most prefer to trim all the leaves back so your left with just the bud, this is the method i use as i prefer to smoke bud with as little leaf as possibe, how ever i have smoked trim and it does the job but not as nice as smoking the bud

man, i miss you guys!
We missed you too Reg. :circle-of-love:
Leaves with Sugar.
Well played sir, well played... :rofl:

As always, right on point sir. Very good description.

when i used to live down south the growers used to sell the bags of trim and popcorn buds, so if you was buying bud off a grower and you knew them well then they would offer you a bag of popcorn buds and sweet leaf for cheap, it wasnt that crappy so it was worth buying as their was always plenty of bud in their, you could pay £10 per 1/4oz of popcorn buds and trim, you always ended up with an 8th of bud and the rest was leaf but we didnt mind smoking it as it was always pretty decent, plus if you wanted to make a few quid you could buy a few bags of trim and sort through it and sell the buds and would pay for your smoke for a few days.

you dont see that often now but most growers now use their trim to other things now so back then they used to throw it away or sell the best trim for next to nothing,

Damn,that would be sweet!
Ill probably trim anything that will make a bowl and try some ice hash with the tiny buds and sugar trim. I tryed it last time with my photos bagseed, but there was not much trics and I didnt use any actually budage. Plus I think I screwed up the method. Did the ice with the trim, shook for like 20 mins, scooped the green stuff and ran the rest thru a coffee filter. Made about .25 of a bowl :rofl:

but dont touch them until harvest, correct?

YOU KNOW HOW WE DO ON FRIDAYS:tokin:

the coffee filter idea is very poor, i tried it and lost a lot of trichs as they stuck to the coffee filter,

the method i used is in my journal, i just used the gravity method, filled a big jug with cold water and stuck it in fridge to chill it, then through a load of ice in the jug, then i used a hand whisk that has a handle on it and 2 whisk parts, so just kept whisking it up, trichs sink to the bottom and green stuff floated, so pulled out the green stuff and put it in a jar, then processed more trim, took green stuff out again and put it in another jar, then i filled 2 jars with water and shook them for 10min and then emptied it into a sive above the jug and rinsed it with water to wash off any trichs that was left,

so then i was left with a big jug that had murky water in it, i placed it in the fridge over night and in the morning the trichs had settled to the bottom of the jug, so i used a cup and started taking the water out till i was left with about 2 inches of water with trichs mixed in,

then you just need to basically let it settle and let the water evap out, you could do it in the jug or what i did was pour it into a 2ltr bottle and let it settled the poked hole in the bottom just so it let the water out and not the trichs, then i cut the bottle so i was left with the bottom part then left it to sit and used a hair dryer to speed the evap process up, it left me with 2 chunks of bubble hash and i didnt process that much trim, i must of used about a plants worth of trim, very little popcorn buds but still produced some very nice clean bubble hash,

i did try pouring it through a coffee filter but it soon blocked the filter and when it did finally dry the trichs was stuck all over the filter and it was impossible to get them off, so letting the water evap will leave you with all the trichs, once its dried enough it comes out in one lump, so ill be using that method again but id like to try and make some butter but not tried that yet,

Oh, I was gonna mention, If you like, you can leave the really tric outed part of the sugars when you trim. It usually holds some risidual "green taste" but if its just for personal ya Might as well leave it. :)

Thats basically exactly what happened to me. More tric on the filter than anywhere. Thanks for the recipe that sounds like a good plan.
How long did it take from trim to smoke ready?

im the same, i do cut the odd sugar leaf off to check the trichs as its best not to check the trichs under the hps as it can look different under regular light, so i cut a sugar leaf off or just 1 blade sticking out the bud and take it into normal day light or under a normal house light and check the trichs that way, if the sugar leaf is pretty much saying the plant is done then you will find the buds are not far behind, they usually mature at pretty much the same time so i cut a sugar leaf blade off at different parts on the plant as it gets closer to harvest,

the only time you would remove sugar leaf is when you use the defol method, i stripped back the dwc sensi start but i did it to late as the buds was ready before the plant had time to grow out as much as i liked, so i stripped everything back that i could get to the stem of, when i harvested it it was clear the sugar leaves where getting much bigger so they was repalcing the fan leaves and bigger sugar leaves i pulled off about a week ago, so if i do that again ill do it much earlier as im pretty sure it would help increase bud size due to the leaf growth i seen on the plant at harvest,

the only time i remove leaves is if 2 leaves are resting on each other, if you pull them apart you will see a wet patch where the leaves have been sweating, this is not good as it can lead to pm issues so ill cut one of the leaves off or cut a blade of one of the leaves so it stops it sweating on another leaf, this is more a problem when you have 2 plants near each other as they tend to sweat more that way

you mean how long making the hash,

you could process the trim in an hour or 2 depending on how much you have, then its just a case of letting it settle so i took 2 days in total to process and evap most the water out, but then you need time to let it totally evap, so i left it in a cupboard for about 2 days then i used a sharp knife and just lifted the lump out the bottom of each bottle and then another week for it to totally dry, it was a nice blonde colour but then about a week later it was a darker brown colour,

so the processing part is pretty quick, its just the drying time as you need to let the water evap totally before taking it out what ever you are using to evap the water in, i used a hair dryer but didnt use it long enough to let the water get to hot, when it got warm i turned the hair dryer off, so its pretty quick using the hairdryer and you could easily do it in a whole day as long as you had enough time to let the water settled, then i just left it at room temp until it had sort of cured and now its a nice brown colour and very potent,

i know if you use bubble bags you end up with different grades, but i didnt need different grades i just wanted some all round good bubble hash, plus if you have different grades then their is 2 or more grades of poor quality hash so why not just leave it all mixed in together, their is no green matter in it as it all floats so its just the trichs your left with which makes very nice bubble hash, so im very happy with the results, i know using the bags you can get a very fine grade but i would only end up wasting the lower quality hash so leaving it as one lump is good and the results are pretty amazing, best hash i have ever had put it that way.

so scrap the coffee filter idea, it dont work i followed a few guides that said use coffee filters but i found they clogged up after just 1 cup of water and it wasnt full of trichs as it was the water i was syphoning off, but it blocked up and what trichs it did catch stayed stuck to it so im pretty sure that method is not worth trying, but the evap method works and you get to keep 100% of the trichs, its only the water that evaps so the trichs stay giving you some nice hash.

just dont process the trim to much as it can go mushy, i put it in the freezer and then in the jug for about 15min of whisking up, then use a sieve or how ever its spelled and scooped the trim out and put it in a jar, i was pretty shocked when i filled the jar with water, it was a coffee jar and when i shook it up i could see lots and lots of trichs floating around, so placed the sieve over the jug and poured the jar into the sive then kept dipping the sieve under the water so the trichs washed through and into the bottom of the jug.

its a slow process but works and works well, i even bought coffee filters but didnt use them, well i did but it was to wick some of the water up when their was only a tiny bit of water left in the bottom of the bottle.

ill try and find which page it was in my journal then ill send you the link as it showed the pics of how i did it and how it looked just before the last evap period, ive still got plenty of hash left and was shocked at how much i got, i had been saving up boxes of trim and big jelly bean jars full of trim thinking id need lots to get some hash, but i used a small jar of trim and just processed that and i must of had slightly more than an 8th of bubble hash

ok found the links,
the first link is the method i used and some pics of what i ended up with before evap and after
my method
this 2nd link is a video miwa posted in my journal, its the page after the 1st link, its pretty much the same method i used but its a good video that shows you the whole process, this has got to be the cheapest and easiest way to make hash, the bubble bags are ok and is the same method, but with the bags you drain the water through the different bags and end up with different grades of hash, but the gravity method gives you one grade of hash and its all good, plus your not spending money on bags, i think if you had lots of trim then the bubble bags would be worth buying but just small amounts of trim would be pretty pointless as you wouldnt have enough hash to make it worth using the different sizes of bags,
the other option would be to buy just 1 grade of bubble bag and use that, but the method i used and the method in the vidoe are very easy to do and produces amazing results, im more than happy with what i ended up with

Im very much medicated so I put together a few pics of Northern Lights x Big Bud auto aka Seymour:

Very good info sir. +reps!

thanks bro,

you see the bottom pic, is the big bud on the left hand side the main cola or at least the main stem, looks like a nice fat bud to me, very frosty, nice work have some reps back

Yes it is, heres a pic I did to kinda show the shoots:
Red = cola
Blue = main branches
Yellow = smaller shoots
