yeah a couple of cheap shop lights they run pretty cool. even cooler than CFL(twisty bulbs) and will definitely help the overall grow if you have to loose some overhead light:) you can get a couple $' fixtures and bulbs for $25 :)
 
yea that's what I started with flouro fixtures and tubes runs a lot cooler than cfl's the plant can grow into the light without issues

hi spimp, been really busy today, but I wanted to see how your girls were doing, thank god their not getting worse :)

What a great community 420 mag is :) thanks for the feedback spimp, I'm not sure which hps you've been looking at for $400 but for that much money it better message your back too. Heres a 600w dimmable cooltube hps for 165: 600w Digital Super HPS MH Grow Light Syszem with Air Cooled Tube. Best 600 watt hydroponic grow light set. wish I found this hps before i built my cabinet I would of said the hell with CFL's. im getting frustrated with the heat build up. My cabinet doors are also open and a 18" fan and the AC on for 10 hours... My room temp with AC is 71. cabinet temps with doors shut and 130 CFM fan is 84-86F. What upsets me the most is Even in winter time my cabinet will still be too hot.

I have an idea to cheaply and easily build a cfl type cooltube but I cant find a rubbermaid dishpan small enough to to fit my cabinet width 11 1/2". i'd love for someone else to try my idea or the cooltube hps and see if it gets their temps down. Our setup is fsirly similar so what works for 1 should work for the other. Let me know if your interested and I'll give you the blueprints :)

Ps my advice to people is buy the biggest tank you can afford. for aquariums lol. same rule applies here. i'm not sure how much you spent on flourescents but their real expensive in my area. everything I spent on lighting so far I could of had that hps and I'm not even on grow 2.
 
Spimp, I just reread what I wrote yesterday, and I was so damn tired I didn't realize how I worded it. I meant I didn't miss your request for pictures, but I was too damn tired to take any at the moment. I hope you didn't think that I meant I didn't miss you at all, which would never be the case, cuz I'm missing you know, which is the case. Happy Sativa day everyone and good weed!! Ladies are doing good today. Pics in a few. :) Think your gonna like the update. ;) I dont have to worry about the dying fan leaves because ses almost dropped em all already! :rofl:
As for the $400 mark-- Thats around the total setup price. Ricorico turned me on to some light deals, and I have been checking out those i-power 'kits' as well as others. Heres about what i came up with price wise:
$200 400-600w light setup with hood and two bulbs. (lower end)
$100 Grow tent
$50-75 inline fan fo exhaust
$50-75 inline filter for exhaust
$10-40 various ducting and whatnot

roughly $400 to get "setup". I am strongly considering adding the shop lights Fish Cake suggested and plan on a trip to the home improvement store to scope out options today.
I am leaning towards a tent as first purchase. Its the only thing I could get and use without the other stuff. Gotta tt Mrs. Spimp and see what her thoughts are. Shouldnt be an issue except for the funds. I figure with a tent, i have added height for heat dissapation. even tho the bulbs will still have to be close, the heat can kinda exhaust up. It may be a temporary solution. :hmmmm:
Also Dharma, Ill be right over. ;) I got crazy ripped off some blue dream last night and havnt been around this morning.
I m interested in your cfl cooltube idea CrimsonBlitz. :):) Im an info junkie. :rofl: Gotta make the rounds peeps and then Ill get some photos up.

Shes doing good. Im making the switch to mostly 2700k CFL's today so the stretch should start. She already getting taller everyday. That is until I start strapping her down! :)

Yes sir. Watered this morning with 1t/gal of FFGB and FFTB each. :) I was thinking the same thing Sir Fish Cake. :high-five:
 
little trick for your peppers. tear the packaging off a book of matches and stuff the matches in your soil. that will kick them up a notch:)
