Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb Auto & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

re: Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb Auto & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

I agree to some degree. I think also part of my problem was I was feeding her the same as I did my auto, which is flowering. I should never have given her any bloom nutrients. I found out after I bought this huge bag of Happy Frog that the PH is iffy and I will definitely be taking that into consideration when I choose for my next grow. I have a little longer to think about it.

Im not gonna ask for suggestions, because I have zero desire for drama in my thread and Ive seen it happen all too often. If I thought we could all have a conversation about it without it devolving into "my way or the highway" Id ask, but I dont really see that happening.

Thank you for your thoughts and I will do some research into that brand of soil.

re: Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb Auto & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

So today, I got in the tent and snapped a few pics and took some measurements. Let me just say the measurements about knocked my socks off.

Glad to see the ladies doing so well. Thelma is looking like my Papaya's and just now starting to flower. So exciting! She will only become more beautiful as she blossoms.

Are you planning to attempt any LST with Louise or Thelma? Louise, in my opinion, could definitely use some LST to help those lower nodes get more light. If the LST makes Louise too short, then put a couple of books underneath to bring her up to the same level as Thelma.

As for distance from the lights, 14" sounds about right for flowering. If you start to see the tips of the leaves burn, then adjust the light upward. Otherwise, you're best to keep the plants as close to the LEDs as possible because they get more intense light. The only drawback with keeping the LEDs close is the decrease in coverage area. With two plants, however, that shouldn't be much of a concern.

Here is a helpful chart to explain light intensity:

Keep up the good work. :Namaste:

Thank you, MysterySeeds.

Louise was topped once and now she has 2 main tops. I havent yet decided what to do with her in regards to LST. Im still studying it in my brain. haha. Thelma has been LST'd for a long while. At first it was just her top pulled over to one side and then after I defoliated her a little bit, I didnt think that was enough, so I LST'd most of the branches. I will have to rethink my LST technique, however. When I used a string and pulled her over, that worked great, but then I did the second round and just used some wire pushed down into the soil. They are very loose and really arent doing much at all to tame her. Shes pretty even. Im not bothered by it. I dont think Ill do anything else at all to her, except lick my lips as I watch her fatten up for my happy times coming soon. :)

re: Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb Auto & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

Huge difference since I last stopped in! I think you were right on the bloom nutes, she might not have been ready for them yet. Just keep rocking the way it's going now, your SB looks much happier, and should reward you with some really nice Sativa smoke. It blows my other Sativa dom strains out of the water so far.

You're going to LOVE it!!! (That's the one I'd grab the popcorn from first! :) )

My SB clone #1 has been receiving 0-15-15 flowering supplement, and still has red lines on the stems, next 5 weeks will be with a 0-51-34 bloom supplement, but I don't expect the lines to ever disappear.

Your post made me laugh right out loud!
You're going to LOVE it!!! (That's the one I'd grab the popcorn from first! )

Thank you. Im gonna get this right some day. I really am. Get my mistakes out of the way and then off I go. haha

Ive been watching your SB's and your Candy Cheese? on your journal. They are fantastic plants, all of them.

re: Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb Auto & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

We all made mistakes when we started. You're making a lot less than I did. I killed my first few plants lol. Don't worry so much, you're really on the right track, it's just a little shaky since you're still learning and aren't always sure of things.

CC is Cotton Candy. I'm freaking amazed how easy going she has been through the grow, I wish I had her for my first grow, I probably wouldn't have killed her. Well.. yeah I would.. nutes at 5 days old is never smart lol.

But thank you, I appreciate the compliment. It helps me feel a lot better about my grow, even though I'm still learning as I go.

re: Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb Auto & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

Ahh right. Cotton Candy. Sorry for that error. Shes purty whatever she is. haha

I think I want to LST Louise, my Strawberry Blue, the smaller plant with 2 tops. How would you do it?

Oh, and I meant to tell you. Your bragging on the Blue is whats making me excited for her to finish. I didnt know she was a sativa when I popped her. Im glad she is. Im know that will be my favorite kind. I cant wait to try her out.

Thelma and Louise - Day 50

Hi my 420 friendlies.

So today, I got in the tent and snapped a few pics and tooks some measurements. Let me just say the measurements about knocked my socks off.

Thelma is sitting pretty, as ever. She measures approximately 11" tall. I didnt even think to do the width, but Id say she is wider than she is tall. I am fascinated by watching her flowers bloom. I hope I see it uncountable times, but this is my first time to see it in person. So exciting.

thelma5274.jpg

Louise is the one who shocked me when I measured her. She measures 11" tall too! I did not think she was that tall. They look so different. Thelma is profuse and chaotic and Louise is tall and stately. Louise is still showing no new signs of problems with her feed, so Im really hoping I can put this episode behind me. After measuring today, and reading that photos in flower will grow 2-3 times the height of veg, I have decided that I will start increasing their dark period by 30 min everyday starting tomorrow. By the 12th day, we will be at 12/12.

louise52711.jpg

I took a picture of them both from down low, so you can see how they are of a height. Keep in mind that eventhough you cant see it, Thelma is still sitting on 3" of perlite, while Louise is on the floor with nothing under her and she almost as tall as Thelma.

thelmalouise5271.jpg

While I had the measuring tape out, the one I havent been able to find because my gremlins, erm, children took off with it, I went ahead and measured the distance from the tops of the plants and it measures 14". Is that about right? I dont understand all this light distance stuff. :(

Here they are, random photos of my lil lovies.

Thelma, Bomb THC Bomb:

thelma5275.jpg

I can no longer tell, just by looking at the plant, which one is the main stem. I have to move leaves so I can find the stem and follow it. haha

Louise, Strawberry Blue.

louise5275.jpg

louise5273.jpg

In this picture, I wanted to ask if anyone thinks this node looks strange. Im talking about the space between the new growth coming at the leaf stem to the right and the stem in the center. There is no such space between the center and leaf on the left. Maybe shes just now starting to do alternate nodes?

Anyway, thats it for this update. See yall next time!

Beautiful plants,,, good work. Your instinct is taking over.....

re: Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb Auto & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

Howdy Sorenna,
Thx for speaking up about the contentious nature of some of the recent soil debates. It's confusing, and kind of a drag. I tried 1 way. It worked pretty good, may do it again. There are a couple ways I'd love to try. Just to try, and have fun! I think one of the chief pleasures of this site is seeing a gaggle of different ways all carried out by intelligent, dedicated enthusiasts. Arrival here was an explosion of ideas for me. Dogmatism stifles this creativity. I hope you enjoy the process of finding a way to happily grow in harmony w/your Herb. I did.

Not trying to answer for Antics, but my GreatAunt's technique might fit your StrawberryBlue. Gently shape her any way you'd like.
Your garden looks so healthy! These next couple of weeks will be fun.
Stay cool

I, personally, can only speak for the things Ive personally tried. I learn a great deal from reading grow journals. I wish I could read more, but I have more now than I can post in. haha I learn more from whats in my tent. I really love the people here and the different ways to do things, from hydro to potted soil to handmade soil to organic soil. I think in the right hands, all of these methods have their merits. Its up to each of us to find the method that fits in our hands.

Im really having fun with it. Now I want to plant a veggie garden outside. Its too late this year and it probably would have drowned, or close to it. I think next year will be ideal. *fingers crossed*

Im going to go and look over your Great Aunt's technique again. Ive read it before but I need to refresh my memory.

Thank you for your compliments. Its always a pleasure to have you pop in.

re: Sorenna's - 2015 - THC Bomb Auto & Strawberry Blue - Soil - LED

I'm in love with Telma. It's interesting how we can find a soul in every living being.

*pulls a chair*

I'll be watching this :Namaste:

Hello Groovy Bud. I love your name. It gives me a reason to post this cute emote: :hippy: hehe

:welcome: to my little space at :420: Im really impressed with my Thelma. She very pretty as a plant, her shape and color and profusion. Louise is a bit of brat. lol They both affect me in their own little ways. I think Louise is getting ready to impress me.

Im glad you are here, pull up a chair or hammock or a recliner and makes yourself to home.

It's not too late to plant perennials, trees, or garden center potted plants.

Trees are out. I rent so I dont want to put in anything like that. I asked specifically about a veggie garden and shes okay with that. I guess I could do a container garden. Ill give that some thought.

Thelma and Louise - Day 51

The girls are doing just lovely. Thelma continues to fill out. I filled up her reservoir and gave her a little twist under lights. Louise got cleaned up a little after her illness. I took off the totally compromised leaves, cut a couple others but left the ones with little damage on the plant. I feel she can still make use of those. All in all, they are both looking like fine beauties. I give them both a blue ribbon!

Today was the first day of increased darkness. So they slept an extra 30 minutes today, and the same again tomorrow, everyday until 12/12.

I tried and failed to get a full plant pic of Thelma, the Bomb THC Bomb. Hint: She looks pretty much like yesterday. lol
thelma5291.jpg

I did manage to get a couple nice flower pictures. Look at all that pistil activity.
thelma5293.jpg

A trinity of flowers.

Last but not least, our pretty Louise, Strawberry Blue.

Now, Im gonna go crawl under my covers and head to Sleepytown. I hope yall have a great one. Bye bye!

Ahh right. Cotton Candy. Sorry for that error. Shes purty whatever she is. haha

Oh, and I meant to tell you. Your bragging on the Blue is whats making me excited for her to finish. I didnt know she was a sativa when I popped her. Im glad she is. Im know that will be my favorite kind. I cant wait to try her out.

No worries, no like you'd offend me over that mixup. There's so many strains out there, who can keep them straight?

I'd have fun with LST your SB, that's for sure!

This is my LST method if you haven't seen it: Antics Perpetual Learning Experience (Direct link to the LST post, not a shameless plug)

First I'd start working the two longest tops down. Great tops too, I freakin love 'em! I'd work those down over the course of a few days until they're lower than the other tops, which I wouldn't LST yet. I'd let it grow about a week, maintaining the same setup, biggest tops lower than all the other tops. Then I'd work my way down the plant, LST'ing each node below the two biggest tops to bring them level with the first two. After another few days to a week, I'd do the next two, and so on. I always put all my LST ribbons on at the same time, and then adjust them as needed as she grows.

But that's how I'd do it. Keep in mind that I like a short, but wide plant, with as even a canopy as possible to take advantage of as much light as possible, since I'm not using extremely powerful LEDs (150 w draw each, two lights, 7 square ft area)

I think once you start with the two biggest tops, and start working them down slowly, you'll see things that I can't in the pictures, and you can just let your creativity go wild, and make that LST project your own. As long as you're on 18/6 lighting, you can Veg her as long as you'd like, until you're totally happy with the plant you helped take shape, and then you can make that big switch to 12/12 and let her take care of the rest!

During stretch, I keep all my LST ties on the plant, just to maintain shape, not to make major adjustments, only minor changes, half inch here or there to keep things level. I leave the ties on eh. for maybe about a month or so after the switch to make sure she holds her shape, then start taking them off one at a time. If I release one and a branch goes way up above the canopy, I keep that one on until a later date.

But just have fun with it really, make it your own, train her with your own vision of how you'd like her to look, and be shaped like.

It's such a good smoke! I have such a hard time resisting going into the cure container and sneaking a few buds. There's nothing like a good Sativa to make you so happy that your eyes feel like they're puffed up and smiling for two hours straight.

Here's the strain at Herbies: ! World of Seeds Strawberry Blue Feminised Seeds - Herbies Seeds

75% Sativa, 25% Indica. I would totally grow this strain again. Well, I am lol. I'm on the 2nd generation now with two plants, and plan to clone her again as well. I freakin LLLLLOVE that strain.

But just go have fun with it! Enjoy yourself, and all aspects of the grow :thumb:
