Plant is coming along nicely and has a thick stalk on her .

Maritime are your plants soil covered on the top ?

Yes, the mulch covers are being utilized. The res on my earth box trays holds about 2.5 gallons before overflow. I run on 2 gallon cycles. In mature flower they are consuming over 1 gallon per day as the res goes dry by the third morning.

This system should make droughting a breeze. Maintaing a fluid presence in the res until I initiate the sequence by vacuuming out the solution to count as day one of drought. Just stick the sucker vac down the res fill tube and drain her out. 11 days or less to observe a 50% change in LWA.

Ok y'all here's an update on my girls. I filled both reservoirs (holds 1ga) and let them sit for 2 days. They soaked up maybe half the rez, and the water level hasn't moved since. (Should I empty these now and leave em the way till the babies pick up?)

@ReservoirDog I picked up some mycorrhizal inoculant on your advice and dusted the hole a little and the outside of the roots. Poured a little bit of water in the bottom of each hole and let it sit for an hour (giving the roots a path to the water below). Packed a little leftover media I saved around the transplants and just a touch of water all around them to get them moving.

I was surprised how developed the roots were at the bottom of the sip cups! I expected they'd quit at the 'air gap' but no chance, they just filled up that reservoir in the cup. The girls look super limp and unhappy, is that because they outgrew their cups? Will take pictures later and see if they've perked up a bit.

Exciting stuff, I'm on my way! Thanks so far for all the help y'all!

Ahoy There,
@farside05 put me on this nutrition recipe some years back and it may surprise him that I still use it.

One Part Mega Crop Base Nutrient
Potassium Silicate (SI)
Calcium/Magnesium (CAL/MAG)

Young plants = 4 Grams MC with 4 ML of SI and 4 ML CAL/MAG each gallon
Early Bloom = 5 Grams MC with 5 ML SI and 5 ML CAL/MAG each gallon
Late Bloom = 6 Grams MC with 5 ML SI and 6 ML CAL/MAG each gallon

The SI & Cal/Mag are home distilled following @farside05 recipe saving huge dollars. HUGE $$$$

You mean the elephant trunk, yes?
Yeah she was pretty solid pre sip. And they are great at the beginning the Strawberries. But even with all out hydro like pre care - I’m sure that baby SIP is contributing plenty to better than average growth. I need to do reference against an “Airpot” SIP with just one in the pot. Having two in the pot isn’t fair.

She’s day #25 Flower. Looking well. But if popping some holes for aeration might help I might as well.

Nick

You’ve mentioned before making holes with a soldering iron. I’m a bit slow 😅

Thinking about doing the same to my Solo SIP.

Not that she needs it - she’s doing 2.5 res a day at the moment (res is only 80ml so not huge (7fl/oz) and I keep a pot and syringe ready for her. But if aeration gonna get more fire out of her then don’r mind if I do! Her trunk is pretty epic already!

She's loving that SIP Nick! That's amazing!

I droughted one in an earthbox. No vacuuming, that's a good idea! Still I got her to drought by the book in 10 or 11 days if I remember right.

Maritimer I've been meaning to tell you something. Two sources at a family gathering the other day were talking and I was a witness. One said, "my friends won't smoke unkle Otters weed anymore. It's too strong! Then immediately another said. Right! My friends won't either, we get too high! So we're doing something right with this medicine! I'm tipping my hat to you for bringing it up(droughting), then raising it to the next level with @Krissi Carbone :ciao: :bravo:. This weed is to strong for stoners in their 30's and 40's! Whodathunk?

Aye Commodore,
We have logged the same complaint from some of our regular patients. The droughted weed is too stoney! You hear this from the flower smokers.

As this is a Medical Marijuana Website, I propose this. These comments are cementing the need to drought medical cannabis. When chronic pain overcomes an individual and you begin to administer concentrated cannameds the patient's tolerance to cannabis will rise dramatically over the first few weeks. These folks will never again ask you to produce "weaker" cannabis. In fact, they will bless you for every day you observe the growing leaf wilt angles.

The pool of cannabinoids we extract from droughted flowers provides superior pain relief to patients when compared with un droughted flower. The stress produced oils (droughted) makes folks feel better. In capsule form the consensus amongst my folks is gram for gram it takes twice the amount of un droughted oil to equal droughted oil.

Don't even think about the word weaker when you're up in a hospice ward. You want him or her to get the very best you have.

I would. I'd tilt the container toward the overflow hole and get most of the water out and then monitor it with a dip stick, only giving it more when the reservoir is dry and then only adding the amount it will drink in a day or two.

That will likely limit the amount of time it will take for it to "catch". Then it starts getting fun.

Ok, funner. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Thanks! Had a lot of success with that mix myself before I started blending all my own products. Glad it's worked well for you too.

Works for me! Just as you describe!
Do you use your BHO to make your meds with?

I dont think there's a better recipe out there for the N. American grower who is looking for a fairly even balancing of the 'results/simplicity/cost' triad. Now, I'm no expert, but I've spent more of life's precious time than I'd like to admit looking into fertilizers, and I think @farside05 definitely did you a solid.

At least, I sure hope so, because just last week I made the same recommendation to @Bill284 , as a tactic for the hectic summer season that would simplify procedures and manage costs without sacrificing yield.

@Bill284 wl correct me if I’m wrong but @farside05 basic starter recipe as they wrote it struck me as so clear and understandable but also more than a recipe, a framework, its brilliant. I reposted it one of my own threads. I don’t really have interest in LOS or anything other than pure coco peat. But I ever fancy a change 100% I’m following that one.

Morning Mucker. :ciao:
I'm not 100 % sure of your question. :Namaste:
Does farside have a recipe for los?
Or you telling me he does?

Does farside have a recipe for los?

I do not. Years ago, when I got into this game, I originally intended to grow outdoors. I made up a batch of peat and natural amendments that I let cook for a couple months. Then the wife changed her tune and allowed me to grow indoors. I opted to go the Pro-Mix and bottled nute route for inside. The cooked up soil was added to the garden. The garden did well, but it was never used for cannabis.

It's possible to create a LOS with my current desired ratios of macro and micro elements, but I have never done it or made the calculations. Doubt I ever will. Even if I did calculate it all out, I wouldn't feel comfortable posting or recommending something that I've never personally tried/tested.

Sorry I mis remembered and confused stuff up!

EDIT - missed the 100up 🤣
