It's possible to create a LOS with my current desired ratios of macro and micro elements, but I have never done it or made the calculations.
I know it's probably different for veg and Flower, but what are your general levels for say the top 5 or 6?

Time for a final update on my 4.5 gallon diy SIP...

The ATF was harvested on Wednesday-145 days old, 123 days in the SIP, flowering for 87 days, and 21" tall...raised on Grow Dots and supplemented with Purpinator from day 70 on...
1 Final ATF.jpg

A last look at one of her buds...
2 last bud pic.jpg

Silhouette shot, pre-fanleaf removal- her first and last time out of the box in 4 months..
3 Silhouette.jpg

After fanleaf removal- no sag, no droop- the stems on this girl are incredibly strong, thanks to the SIP
Big fans gone 2.jpg

and, 3 hours later, what will end up being half a pound of weed once it's dry...(30.4oz/850g)
not too bad for a 21" plant...
8 850 grams.jpg

Then she goes in here to dry for 6 or 7 days....There's a little exhaust fan on there that comes on for half an hour every 6 hours-this makes drying take a few days longer than if I'd just hung it in the garage...
The slower, the better! The charcoal filter helps keep the smell in check...
10 Drying box.jpg

And here's what she was grown in- and also what the next one will be grown in- it's only a half gallon rez, so it needs water every day - not a big deal, I've got the time...
Empty SIP.jpg

This is my second plant grown in a SIP, and I won't be going back to regular pots-
SIPs grow stronger plants- and isn't that what we're after?

That about does it for that one!
Thanks for looking...

Highya Carcass,

OMG! I was guessing at least 30" tall. One lb. in a 21inch height is remarkable! I know the SIP's are good. I'm surprised by how tall the colas and how many are on there!! Must be more surprises for us to come!! Very nice training job also!! Happy Smokin'

Wow. What the actual?!

I mean the photography is exceptional but!

That can’t conceal thats an absolute amazeball grow. Wow man.

Thats spectacular!

SIP or not 🙇🏽‍♂️!

Thank You, Bode,
that would be sweet! ....but you may have mis-read- she's just half a pound...which is still quite a bit of weed...😁

Thanks, Nick!
That plant took to the SIP like a duck to water!

I’m enjoying my baby SIP / it doesn’t work for our bigger grows but it sure is easy !

The trunk I have in a solo 😂 wowsa! Just ticks all the boxes -

Don’t over/under water. Like Airplane! The movie.

Aerate your root structure.

Give your plants a stable environment (unless you want to stress ‘em)

Is cheap!

Is fun to hack-bits together and when you know why each bit is there - just by building a SIP you learn what plants like. The 3 or 4 sections of a SIP if you build it yourself ?

You learn the biological requirement's of cannabis plants. For me that’s the genius.

Love my little SIP Solo to pieces!

Nick

Damn, Nick- that baby SIP is gettin' it done!
There's going to be quite a bit of weed on that little lady...💚

I cannot recommend the clips @VetSmoke85 tipped me to enough.

Think westside they called Bendz Clips or Bend Clips - what he said. I coukdn’t find that so searched for like “white plastic training clip for plants bend” or something similar.

Genius for lazy ass to train growers like me.

Two per branch - one down/sideways. Then one up when it reaches the extremities of the bucket/pot to go up again away from its taller branches above.

Best value thing by $ for growing I have ever come across.

Really cool - maybe not quite as cool as the Solo Strawberry SIP which makes my heart sing everytime I look at her! ❤️

Nick

I do have some plastic bendy thingies but I didn't find them all that useful, maybe for directing leaves out of the way, but for the top branches they frankly don't notice they are there, it will just make a shallow s curve and usually the branches outgrow the clips and they just become a point of constriction.

Hey Azi, in the resurrected thread about the guy asking why aren't sip's more popular..
Am I seeing correct there are designs that totally rely on evaporation?
Hmmm, I don't remember that coming from that thread. I know @danishoes21 has a design going in his Vancouver Island thread where he's testing out something like that.

But in the thread you referenced I thought they were all pretty straight forward. There were some good SIP illustrations in that thread if I recall.

Yeah I thought I saw some illustrations where there is no actual wicking thing,
Like this one doesn't seem to have a water channel or wick?

And the other one I thought does have soil to wick in tubes I didn't catch those.
But I was thinking would that work? and like especially with two mixing tubs outside.. but with top dressing nutes.. just as safety to make sure soil stays moist when the weather gets going.

That illustration has three dark circles which are likely meant to depict soil tubes that go all the way to the bottom and provide the wicking (although they don't depict them in the water 🤔).

There needs to be some physical connection between the water and the soil as the roots will be hesitant to jump the air gap, especially if it's too wide. I do usually get some roots exploring the air chamber but they mostly stick to the zone common to the two.

I don't get big thick robust roots diving down into the reservoir in mine, but rather almost all the very fine feeder roots that fill the pot top to bottom.

@Carcass wait did you get 850gr dry from that? in what? 60x60 or 70x70?
I need to revaluate everything :)
I basically got the same space just distributed square, few cm's bigger.. well 850 would be a very nice aim.. would need a bit more wattage, and grow long enough.
Well, that and Grow Dots. :laughtwo:

I think his trick is his grow room is smaller than his light :)
And there's a SIP involved...

Well, that and Grow Dots. :laughtwo:
oh I actually have something like that, little fertiliser pellets to mix in that's that..
Monster Bud
  • Bentoniet
  • Vinasse
  • Cacaokorrels
  • Enzymen
  • Aminozuren
  • Vitamines
  • Microvoedingstoffen
  • Natuurlijke gechelateerde spoorelementen
  • Micro-organismen
5-4-7 + 2 MgO

@Carcass wait did you get 850gr dry from that?
I think he's saying that he got 850g at harvest (almost 2 pounds) which, when dried and cured, will yield about a quarter of the fresh harvest weight. So, a half a pound of primo herb from a cardboard box, a couple of mop buckets, a good light and some Grow Dots.

Sorcery you say? If only he would reveal his technique. 🤔

Well, actually he detailed it pretty well in his thread Here
