Be careful with DA, it's often high in heavy metals. It's been a problem in the states where they test for it and the culprit were DA on most of the grows. Just a heads up!

Cheers!
I have one marked with pretty green logos and “Food Grade” on it. Aussie but writing in Thai 🤣

This might be a silly question , i'm unsure when to refill the resivoir , i understand to have a 1" / 25cm air gap but how low do u let the water level go before toping up , i grow in soil / potting mix & water from the top when the leaves start to drop somewhat , though i guess thats taking it to far with SIP system, 🤔
No silly questions. My last SIP grow went auto water so it was constantly filled. Worked well. EarthBoxes with covers.

Thanks guys, my concern is stagnant water ??🤙✌️
If you are concerned you can either flush down fill pipe with water flushing reservoir or as you said wait for slight leaf droop then fill reservoir back up but id probably only do the later occasionally.
If I was worried I'd do the flush down the fill pipe .
My SIP up the tree drinks that quick I have never flushed that one but it does get a slight droop every 4th or so watering from me not attending it quickly enough but bounces back within a minute of filling res back up

That's why there should be a hole in the bucket where the 1" gap is at. The plants should also go through enough water that it doesn't have time to stagnate. This is also part of why I let my SIPs go through a dry cycle between waterings.

Don't be.. before starting I and others in this thread nagged Azi's ear off with don't we need a circulation pump or an air pump in there as well things will go bad, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
And yes once the plant is established you'll be chucking water in the res to try to keep up with consumption.
Like my pot should be good for 14 days of water but once the plant is in full force flowering that level meter can go down in 2 days.

There's generally not a big enough water reservoir in these things to worry too much about it. At least with the standard builds. Plus, there is an air cavity down there that helps. I suppose once you get into the large tote/garbage can size SIPs you could have an issue with too small a plant and too full a reservoir at the beginning, but once the plant catches the growth is kind of ridiculous.

And yeah, no air pumps/stones. They're simply not needed and ResDog experimented with them and it messed with the pH if I recall correctly.

Uh, yup!

Still waiting…

About an 1” in a week still looking for the res.

Grow damnit!

Here's my Gelato seed #7 in week 2 of the flowering stretch, in a SIP of course. You should be able to tell which evening I fed her, as the growth takes off a little more after a feeding. The timelapse got a bit 'messy' because I had to lower the plant & light at the end, it was growing out of the shot.

Cool time lapse dude!

The Trailer Trash just hit the end of week 1 of flower and she's looking pretty good so far and sipping a little over a half gallon per day.
I'm not saying I got it figured out yet but I'm on my way.

Sure looks good :D

They are definitely little bastards i put a layer of sand and stopped top watering aswell and would spend 10min vacuuming them up as they flew around eventually got on top of them
I read yesterday searching more on the net, that they hate caffeine, so a layer of coffee grinds on top will mess them up. I tried this in my compost bin, I will report back.

I am going to go for a bigger drain hole this time around, ALSO I cut a nice-sized hole and put a window in both my tubs. I just melted the two pieces of plastic together, this way I can see if I have dirt around my drain hole + root growth would be visible. I'll just put a little flap to cover from light. I used a 20 oz bottle as the window. Pics soon on that, sanding it now.

Also, I am going to use a Fishing Bobble with a Bamboo stick or similar to check the level of my water from the pipe. I could leave it between waterings. Its still in the development stages. A nice feature some of the expensive containers have.
welcome to the club @Ke0ncp Azi has set us up so we can have the info in one place, Now maybe we can get an index for the post, showcasing some examples.. and members' setups, possibly.

Just my thoughts and opinions.

The cover, did that come with the container? Is that a purchased setup? I started making one but I made it to complicated and my ADHD kicked in.
