Here is my latest SIP auto from @Herbies Seeds - GG#4 Auto. She got too big for the 32x60x80 perpetual auto tent and got moved over to her own 4x4 and scrogged. She's 43 days old and drinking over 5 liters/day from her res. I love these SIPs and so do these autos!

High All ! Here are the 4 ladies I'm growing in the 5 gal. Gro Buckets. I have 2 "Aurora Indica" plants (pic 1 & 3) & 2 "Cherry on Top" (pics 2 & 4) . The 2 Cherry on Top should be ready for harvest in about 2 weeks. The 2 Aurora's probably have 4-5 weeks left. All 4 of these girls are with just 5 weeks of Veg.

I'm getting ready to start 2 Auto flowers in SIP's this week so I cleaned out 2 of my buckets from the last grow. Thought I'd post a few pics of the root system. First off, I turned my buckets upside down to get the soil out; so the pics are upside down too. In this first pic you can see how the roots really concentrate right at the top of the res. You can see the thick band of roots. But as you can see the roots don't go down into the water res. for the most part.

In this next pic you can see where the roots grew down the side where the Air Gap is. They were about 1/2" thick.

Got everything all washed up & ready to go. Now to get off my lazy ____ & get to planting.... lol.
i know its late but they like air gaps ? feels like throwing them cat balls in my soil now lol

If you're running a SIP there's no need for strings, the soil will work fine. Strings are more of a Swick thing and there it is important to match the quantity of wicking material to size and growth rate of the plant.

It is an ancient Mariner,
And he stoppeth one of three.
'By thy long grey beard and glittering eye,
Now wherefore stopp'st thou me?

Sailors = Young
Maritimers = ?
Mariners = Ancient

TequilaSPR may have a point.

🤣

Any of you guys start autos in SIPs? If so how long do you top water before you let the reservoir do the work
I start my autos in a 4" pot for the first two weeks, weighing them to see when they need water. Once they can drain that pot in 48 hours, they go into the SIP (usually around day# 15).

When I transplant them to the SIP I'll top water until it runs into the res. After that all feedings are in the res. Here's my latest, a Herbies Seeds GG#4 Auto in a 4x4!

Thanks for the response. I stunted my auto last time when I transplanted so I didn’t want to do that this time. I figure I’ll top water until
It gets a few more nodes
