Oh but she was a bold brave girl.

Red Mimosa XL Auto. Grown in a SIP LOS full organic outdoors.

Washed the buds in my swimming pool and hung full in the flower room which is doing a turn at the drying room between grows.

Our pool is cleaned by H2o2 - no Salt or chlorine. Called an Ozone Pool System - sounds better than the reality which is 20L jerry cans of 50% Hydrogen Peroxide delivered twice a month. Bonus is though I ever fancy blond hair again i can just pop into the pool room 😂

Anyway if she goes a quarter oz I’ll be surprised. There’s probably more than 5g’s of kief on the floor of the drying room 🤣

But now I’m (Disclaimer below) now a:

Certified Organic Outdoor SIP Grower™ - Bud Washing Advanced Module Passed - Monster Yield Module Failed

(disclaimer Azi says my Wife, & Co, is the recipient of the award - I dunno, he also told me to buy a pink Tutu today so not sure 😂)

Anyway undeterred tomorrow I’m running maintenance, tech changes and reloading my giant SIP. Link in my signature.

Persian Pie seed popped and will up pot to that after a week or two in a @Mars Hydro Hydroline12 - like a mini DWC thing with integral LED light. Get those hydro roots right and then outdoor organic SIP redux!

Well, it doesn't have to be pink, that's just the most common. :cheesygrinsmiley:
Whatever you do, please just before you go to bed DO NOT imagine me with blond hair wearing a pink tutu. @InTheShed speaks of his long eyelashes. My chest chair is longer 🤣 don't imagine that before bed.

👂🪱 delivered 🤣

Better late than never ;)

Root balls, the amount of roots that grew through the insert does Not relate to final yields !

The California Snow which yielded 6 1/4 oz had the most roots into the reservoir.....

More pic's and stuff in my journal :yahoo:

California Snow root ball.jpg

Cheers, eh ?
Final Yields >

California Snow - 6.25 oz
Gorilla Punch - 10.46 oz
Wedding Cheesecake - 13 oz
Six Shooter - 13.86 oz
For a total of 2 3/4 #
So - you're saying the Cali Snow, broke the barrier to the res and supped on its own, typically this is by some (me included) considered to be beneficial - but you found the opposite? I've visited your journal a few times, epic harvest! - they were all pretty much the same just different strains?

That's interesting! I know some of the linage of Gorilla Punch and Wedding Cheesecake and they yield for sure, Cali Snow fairly equal?

I guess small sample size - you'll just have to run it again!

Its really interesting because whilst I'm in the drink direct from the res is good - I also understand that you give them too much of a good thing they get lazy and don't produce. Cookies derived for sure doesn't like too much.

I look forward to your next journal!

Nick

Not what I'm saying, they all broke the barrier to some extent.

The Six Shooter was the most successful at this and yielded the most !

Don't understand what you mean ? Three different strains, three different amounts of penetration, three different yields...

California Snow was the smallest yielder but she had a Very Slow Start ;)

The only strain I am going to run again is Lambs Bread :yummy:

The search goes on, he, he...

Almost cleaned up and ordering Black African Magic, Vietnamese Black, Five Alive and more Lambs Bread in a few days

Four sip's this time :bongrip:

Cheers

Sorry I’ve clearly misunderstood. I was trying to clarify this:

You then say check your journal for more details and I found the yields. Nothing else.

The smallest yielder you said “had the most roots in the reservoir”

So I (mistakenly it seems) inferred that your point was that roots in the res was not as good as a wider spread in the actual medium and you made that point with the Cali Snow and its 45% yield versus the rest.

But actually that was a red herring? It just started slower and finished smaller (fantastic consistency on the others BTW!) so its unlikely the res slurping - but potentially just a strain/pheno issue?

I was simply trying to understand the point you were making 😅🤷🏽

Ah, I see. My mistake....

After taking a closer look I believe I was looking at the wrong image. A senior moment if you will, sigh.

I had thought I edited that part out and now did it for good this time ;)

Sorry about that !

Cheers

Highya TequilaSIPr,

Lady looks gorgeous with all those colas!! I forgot what strain you're growing. I'm interested in final weight with all that mass!! Happy Smokin'

Dude - you grow too good weed to say its a “senior moment”! You did just harvest like near 50oz of weed…

I mean you wouldn’t trust a butcher didn’t eat his own meat, right?

🤣

remeber years ago we did modded wilma hydros, andcut the base off to let the roots grow into the res tank,we could drip feed or flush feed , some modded further and turned it into a urdwc . kinda reminds me of a sip, how the roots get in the res, seen some doing airstones too, wonder what would happen if you recirculated it, thought about it when i saw builders clear 4 big trees and drill for water bore hole and they hit it at 2.1meters explaining under the bedrock there is a giant pool of water that the trees tap into and it constantly recycles minerals . trees in nature are really hydro lol sat on a pool of water like a sip / wilma

If you are interested in an aquifer-based system that (re)circulates the water try googling PPK Perfect Plant Killer. Don’t worry, the name’s ironic.

Someone on another forum invented it and it appears to work quite well. Many PPK growers use a totally inert medium and fertigate, but it’s not necessary as far as I understand it. I don’t think my explaining the details will benefit anyone, just give it a google.

My miniSIP setup utilizes these nursery softpots (about $.05/ea. online). I half-fill one with perlite and it goes on the bottom where it both wicks the water up into the softpot sitting atop it, but also prevents the softpot from having direct contact with the water and soaking it. The one in photo has a cross-section of a plastic bottle in it for structural support but I found this step unnecessary, just put the perlite straight in and use a twist tie to close.

Set the seedling baggy on top the perlite baggy and with gravity-assist the two will settle in an make good contact. Avoid pushing down and fiddling too much, they will mould to each other in short order.

I like to place a cover on top to protect my microbe pals and emerging roots from excessive heat and light.

Ready to plant. I easily remove the perlite baggy with minimal root damage; I left it in place for the photo as it made things easier for me and safer for the roots.

You can see it is thick with self terminated roots along the entire column, until you get to the bottom…

Where, because they were close enough to the water and could crawl down the perlite baggy, she developed proper “water roots” (See the fish bone pattern) which is what we need to have in order to avoid the 14-day+ stall that otherwise takes place at transplant.

So these days that’s how I do it and I find it reliably works as described. PS, plant with baggy in place, obviously.

Here they sit today, growing with no stall. Sorry I didn’t clean up before inviting guests, I’m just tired!
